“Can you believe it? Calliope’s actually at the company today. What’s going on?”

“Whoa, is she here to take over the family business?”

“Honestly, between the two of them, I’d say Calliope’s got more of a head on her shoulders. Ms. Lisette has been working for the company; she might seem competent, but I’ve heard she’s been relying on her brothers for everything.”

“Yeah, I remember when Calliope was pushed out of the company, it was all a setup.”

“Yep, everyone knows it, but the president favors Lisette, so nobody says a word!”

“Still, it’s kind of a big deal that Calliope’s here.”

“Not really surprising if you ask me. I heard the Jewell Group’s in trouble, and they’re desperate for her help.”

“Didn’t she marry Silas? Plus, isn’t she known as the Miracle Doctor?”

“Exactly! Calliope’s incredible. Did you catch that wedding yesterday?”

“I did! It was absolutely stunning. She knew they were planning to smear her, so she came prepared!”

“The best part was her speech afterward. She organized everything flawlessly. Everyone’s been singing her praises!”

“Yeah, she’s all over social media now!”

The office was buzzing with talk about Calliope. Nobody realized just how capable she was until recently. Her appearances at the reunion, wedding, and other events shot her into the limelight. With whispers about the Jewell family’s dire straits circulating and them being desperate for Calliope’s assistance, it wasn’t surprising everyone was speculating about her return.

Calliope made her way straight to the president’s office, and naturally, nobody dared to stop her. She looked radiant, exuding confidence in her sharp, professional attire. Already beautiful to begin with, her striking entrance left everyone in awe.

Inside the office, Monty was in the middle of a discussion with Horatio when he looked up and saw her. “What are you doing here?”

His expression immediately shifted. He knew they needed Calliope to save the company, but the thought of giving her a large proportion of their shares and so much control made him balk.

Horatio frowned as well, and as Calliope entered, Valerian burst in, clearly having rushed over, still catching his breath. He glanced coldly at her.

“Calliope, you’re nothing if not ambitious. We hadn’t even reached out to you yet, and here you are, knocking on our door! I knew you have no good intention.”

Calliope glanced at Valerian. “Should I leave, then? I was just here to see if you’d made a decision. But if I’m not welcome, I’ll be on my way. Oh, and by the way, if you miss this chance, I won’t be helping the company, Horatio’s legs, or Lisette ever again.”

With that, she walked out without a backward glance, leaving Monty and the others in a state of shock.

“Stop her! The company’s in dire straits. Without her, we’re looking at bankruptcy! We need her!” Monty gritted his teeth as he shouted.

She was his daughter, after all. He’d use her for what she was worth and then figure out a way to regain control afterward.
