“When’s the meeting?”

“Right away!” Monty exclaimed. “I’ll have my assistant get in touch with the board members and the higher-ups. Let’s have it this afternoon. In the morning, you should stay here at the office, get familiar with the company and see where the issues lie. I’ll give you a quick rundown, and you can see if you have any solutions, alright? There are also a few clients who are in the picture just because of you. A phone call or a meeting with you, and they’ll be on board! Those things are easy to handle. Now that you’re back, I’ll arrange a press conference to introduce you tomorrow. How does that sound?”

Calliope nodded. “Sounds good, let’s do it your way.”

“So from now on, this office is mine?” Calliope asked as she glanced over at Monty.

“It’s yours, do whatever you want with it,” Monty quickly replied.

He wanted to make it up to Calliope and hoped that once she felt their love and trust, she might return the company to them. So for now, handing over the company and the office was no big deal.

“Really?” Calliope uttered, nodding. “Then help me redecorate it to my taste. I’ll tell you what style I want later.”

“Sure, no problem!” Monty agreed.

“By the way, Callie, about Horatio’s legs, do you think we need to prepare anything? When are you planning to operate? Shouldn’t he do a thorough check-up at the hospital first?”

Calliope glanced at Horatio.

Horatio spoke up, “I’m not in any rush. Do what you think is best. If they can be fixed, great. If not, it’s just my fate.”

“They can be fixed, but there’s a risk,” Calliope said. “I need to find time to take a proper look. Of course, treating your legs will require some specific materials, so it’s not going to happen overnight.”

“What kind of materials?” Valerian asked. “Just name them, and we’ll get them.”

Calliope looked at Valerian. “Really? Are you sure you can find them?”

As she spoke, she picked up a pen from the desk and jotted down a list of materials. Handing it to Valerian, she said, “These materials will take me at least a month to gather. If you can get them faster, that would be great.”

Valerian, unfamiliar with the list, said, “I’ll ask around.”

After saying that, he glanced at Calliope, wanting to bring up Lisette. But before he could, Monty shot him a fierce look, silencing him.

“Callie, come sit over here. I’ll show you the company’s situation,” Monty gestured for Calliope to join him at the desk.

Horatio signaled to Valerian, and they both left the office.

Once outside, Valerian turned to Horatio. “Is it alright if I ask about Lisette?”

“Bring it up later. Lisette’s fine for now,” Horatio replied. “Callie has always had issues with Lisette. We’ve made mistakes, and if we mention Lisette now, she’ll think we only care about her. If you have time, head home and tidy up my room. Clear it out and redecorate it. Even if she doesn’t end up staying, let her know she still has a place in the family.”
