Chapter 450
โMr. Horatio, can you give us a little hint?โ
Horatio wheeled himself to his spot, looking up at everyone with an air of authority. Despite being in a wheelchair, he wore a sharp suit that matched his powerful presence.
โYouโre all guessing wrong. But there is something big happening in the company.โ
โWhat is it?โ
The room buzzed with curiosity.
โThe company is getting new management,โ Horatio revealed. โYouโll know what I mean soon enoughโtheyโre on their way!โ
โWhat do you mean?โ
The team cast puzzled glances at Horatio, trying to decipher his words.
Just then, Calliope strode in. She was tall and commanding, her tailored suit accentuating her confident demeanor. Her expression was cool, almost regal, as she walked in flanked by Monty and Franco, who looked like an assistant and a secretary, both overshadowed by Calliopeโs commanding presence.
The meeting room erupted in whispers.
โIsnโt that Calliope?โ someone murmured.
โWhy is she here? Whatโs going on?โ
โCould Horatio mean Calliopeโs taking over management?โ
โSurely not! Sheโs just a young woman, how can she run the company?โ
โEven if the companyโs reputation took a hit because of the Jewellsโ ill-treatment toward her, it doesnโt mean sheโs fit to manage a company.โ
โAnd whoโs this Franco character?โ
The room was a beehive of speculation and disbelief.
Calliope noticed the commotion as she entered. Her eyes swept the room, assessing the crowd with a steely gaze. She made her way to the head of the table, Monty trailing behind her, looking like he wouldnโt dare sit before she did, quite defeated. Franco, however, stood calmly behind her, the perfect picture of a poised assistant.
โGood to see you all,โ Calliope began, a slight smile tugging at her lips. โLet me introduce myself. Iโm Calliope. You might know me as the daughter of the Jewell family, but Iโve severed those ties. So, technically, Iโm no longer Ms. Jewell.โ
โWhat does she mean?โ
โWhatโs Monty doing?โ
โThey canโt seriously be thinking of putting a young woman in charge, can they?โ
โI wonโt stand for it!โ
โMaybe sheโs just here for introductions?โ
Calliopeโs voice cut through the chatter with authority. โPlease, everyone, settle down and let me finish. I have no interest in the Jewell Group, but Mr. Monty Jewell asked me to save the company. He offered me a significant share and full management control, asking me to completely assume his role. So, here I am.
From now on, Iโll be taking over as the chairperson. Iโve called you all here to discuss some matters. I ask for your undivided attention.โ
As Calliope finished speaking, the room erupted again, this time with disbelief and outrage.
โAre you fricking kidding me?โ
โMonty, have you lost your mind? Can she even run a company?โ
โMonty, itโs fine to make amends, but donโt let her ruin the business!โ
โMs. Jewell, no offense, but you lack the necessary skills. You tried working here before and it didnโt end well, remember?โ
โI have to say, youโre not competent, even Lisette was better than you. How can we agree to you being the chairwoman?โ
