Chapter 451

Almost every member was against the idea. No one wanted Calliope to take the helm as chairwoman, to steer the company forward.

Sure, Monty wasnโ€™t exactly a powerhouse of leadership, but at least he knew the ins and outs of the place after all these years.

Calliope, on the other hand, was a different story. The last time sheโ€™d been involved with the company, her blunders were so monumental that sheโ€™d been shown the door.

If the Jewell family had wronged her, leading to the Groupโ€™s reputation getting tarnished, it was up to them to make amends, not to hand over the company for her to potentially wreck.

The opposition was fierce. Everyone agreed that Calliope should back down, not step up to manage the company.

Monty was sweating bullets, scared that the relentless pushback would cause Calliope to throw in the towel. Horatio seemed on the verge of speaking but held back.

One of the board members turned to Calliope and said, โ€œMs. Jewell, I get it. You canโ€™t stand that your sisterโ€™s been involved here for so long, and you want a piece of the action, but have you ever stopped to consider if youโ€™re up to the task?โ€

โ€œSeriously, Ms. Jewell, itโ€™s not about underestimating you, but do you have any experience in running a company?โ€

โ€œMs. Jewell, you need to stick to what you know, and management might not be it.โ€

Calliope maintained a calm, faint smile, showing no rush or concern. She glanced around at everyone before speaking slowly and clearly, โ€œActually, I do have some management experience. Does running the Pearl Tiger Club count?โ€

โ€œWhat? The Pearl Tiger Club!โ€

A chuckle quickly turned to silence.

All eyes were on Calliope, faces etched with confusion.

โ€œPearl Tiger Club?โ€

โ€œDid she just say she managed the Pearl Tiger Club?โ€

The roomโ€™s attention shifted to Franco.

โ€œYes,โ€ Franco replied, nodding. โ€œMs. Jewell managed the restaurant. Its success today is because of her. Sheโ€™s the brain behind it all, the mysterious owner everyone talks about!โ€

Calliope surveyed the room. โ€œNow, does being the owner of the Pearl Tiger Club qualify me to manage this company?โ€

The room was stunned. Everyone gaped at Calliope, their expressions a mix of disbelief and awe. It took a while for the shock to settle in, for everyone to process that Calliope was indeed the owner of the Pearl Tiger Club.

Francoโ€™s endorsement left no room for doubt. It was mind-blowing.

โ€œIf she really is the owner, then sheโ€™s more than qualified to be our chairwoman!โ€

โ€œNo doubt about it!โ€

โ€œMs. Jewell has been hiding her cards well, the owner of the globally renowned Pearl Tiger Club?โ€

โ€œFranco, is this for real?โ€ The board members still looked incredulous.

โ€œItโ€™s true, sheโ€™s my boss,โ€ Franco confirmed calmly.

โ€œMs. Jewell, thatโ€™s impressive!โ€

โ€œTo scale the Pearl Tiger Club to such heights, and everyone knows the place in Capitalton. Ms. Jewell, you must have some serious connections, right?โ€ someone ventured a question.

โ€œHer network is indeed impressive. Didnโ€™t she mention it at the last reunion?โ€

โ€œOh yeah, she knows some big shots in academia and researchโ€ฆ wow, thatโ€™s incredible!โ€

Respect filled the room as everyone looked at Calliope.

Calliope glanced around once more. โ€œSeems like there are no immediate objections. Allow me to present some of my plans for the company moving forward.โ€
