Chapter 467

Calliope was chatting with Fleur again. Well, it was mostly Fleur doing the talking.

Fleur was on a tirade, calling Yvette a lowlife. She ranted about Yvette’s family being a bunch of freeloaders and how even her health was falling apart. If she had known Yvette was like this, she would have put her foot down against Yvette marrying Gideon.

As her rants simmered down, she glanced at Calliope, feeling a pang of regret. Curiosity got the better of her, and she blurted out, “Being the Miracle Doctor must mean you earn a fortune from every patient, right? I heard you’ve treated a lot of wealthy folks. You must be rolling in it?”

Calliope gave Fleur a mild look. “I do well enough. I couldn’t spend it all at the moment.”

Fleur wasn’t quite sure what Calliope meant by that, but she realized Calliope was indeed quite well-off.

A notification popped up on her phone, and her eyes widened as she read it – Calliope had taken over the Jewell Group.

Her friends had been buzzing with sympathy, lamenting that it should have been Calliope married to Gideon. Instead, her son was stuck with a useless woman who couldn’t even bear children.

Looking at Calliope, vibrant and healthy, Fleur couldn’t help but feel a twinge of envy. Calliope seemed like she could have kids without a hitch.

“So, I heard you’re running the Jewell Group now?”

Calliope nodded.

“But I thought the Jewells weren’t fond of you. How did you end up in charge? They even gave you shares?”

Gazing up, Calliope met Fleur’s gaze. “That’s not your concern. Are we done here? If there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way.”

“Callie, don’t be like that. I’m just checking up on you,” Fleur said hurriedly. “About Gideon… could you reconsider? We would return the favor if you help him.”

“That’s not in my control, and I’m not getting involved,” Calliope replied, her demeanor detached.

Fleur wanted to persuade Calliope to stay, but in the end, she left. She turned and watched Calliope’s figure, a complex mix of emotions swirling within her.

Fleur was overwhelmed with regret for having interfered in her son’s relationship with Calliope. If her son had married Calliope instead of Yvette, the Baker Group’s heir would still be him. And if Calliope took over the Jewell Group, it would be theirs too.

But now, it was too late to change anything.

The thought left Fleur fuming. It was all Yvette’s fault!

After settling the bill, she stormed out of the café and headed straight to the hospital.

Yvette was still there, recovering. She had pleaded with the doctors to help her, as she couldn’t bear the thought of not having children. But the doctors had told her it was impossible for her to conceive again, barring a miracle.

Sitting in her hospital room, Yvette grew increasingly frustrated, her fists clenched as she thought about Calliope. She was consumed with anger, wishing she could strangle Calliope.

If it weren’t for Calliope, she wouldn’t have taken such drastic actions. And if she hadn’t, she wouldn’t have become infertile. It was all Calliope’s fault!

Yvette glared at the messages on her phone, seething. Calliope, despite being disliked by the Jewell family, had ended up running their business. With Lisette away, Calliope had taken over the position. The Jewell family, in Yvette’s mind, were fools for handing over the company to Calliope.

Just then, Fleur burst into the room, her face flushed with anger, and slapped Yvette hard across the face.
