Chapter 466

Yvetteโ€™s situation was something that could be considered, but the prospects for Gideon didnโ€™t look promising. With a resolute gaze, Calliope declared, โ€œBegging me wonโ€™t help, and neither will pleading with Silas. This is something Gideon has to handle himself. If he can surpass Calista in skill, Silas would naturally choose him. But if he canโ€™t measure up, why wouldnโ€™t Silas pick someone as capable as Calista?โ€

โ€œCalistaโ€™s still just a high schooler! What kind of skill could he possibly have? Gideonโ€™s been with the company for years now. He definitely knows it better than Calista, and heโ€™s certainly more skilled!โ€

Fleur shouted, โ€œYou know how amazing Gideon is! Didnโ€™t you like him back then because of his talents?โ€

Calliope hesitated, and then replied, โ€œIt was a huge misunderstanding back then.โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Fleur cried.

After a brief glance at Fleur, Calliope continued, โ€œI didnโ€™t really know him well. If I had, I wouldnโ€™t have fallen for him. Heโ€™s nowhere near as capable as Silas, and not even Calista.โ€

โ€œCalliope!โ€ Fleur exclaimed, her emotions flaring.

โ€œIโ€™m just speaking the truth,โ€ Calliope said. โ€œSkill isnโ€™t something you can just claim; he simply doesnโ€™t measure up.โ€

Fleur wanted to lash out, but she held back. She still needed Calliopeโ€™s help after all. Thinking of the long game, she decided to keep her temper in check. Once she was in Calliopeโ€™s good graces, sheโ€™d surely lend a hand.

Taking a deep breath, Fleur said, โ€œCallie, you really got the wrong impression of Gideon. He still cares about you, you know. If it wasnโ€™t for Yvette interfering, maybe youโ€™d still be Gideonโ€™s wife.โ€

โ€œThat would never happen,โ€ Calliope said, shaking her head.

Fleurโ€™s expression shifted. โ€œThereโ€™s always a chance.โ€

โ€œEnough about that. Regarding Yvette, Iโ€™ve got some advice and a few herbal remedies. You can mix these herbs yourself; some are for her to take orally, and others for herbal baths. She needs at least a month of these baths to recover. Follow my instructions, and there should be no intimacy for two months. Once her health is restored, you can focus on preparing for pregnancy,โ€ Calliope instructed Fleur.

โ€œAlright, tell me everything. Iโ€™ll write it down,โ€ Fleur said, nodding eagerly. โ€œNo matter what, getting her pregnant is the priority.โ€

Calliope looked at Fleur, puzzled by her contradictory behavior. Fleur didnโ€™t like Yvette, yet was desperate for her to have a child.

โ€œIs having a child that important to you?โ€

โ€œOf course! That would be my grandchild. I donโ€™t care if Yvetteโ€™s difficult; a grandchild is all that matters! Sheโ€™s a handful now, but I canโ€™t let anyone else have a child.โ€

Fleur spoke with determination, โ€œShe must give us a child. Her duty is to bear children for our family.โ€

Calliope foresaw a tough road ahead for Yvette. The herbal remedies she prescribed were notoriously bitter, and Yvette would need to take them three times a day.

If she didnโ€™t conceive, Fleur would relentlessly push for more treatments, never letting her off the hook. Yvette thought she had married into wealth and elevated her social status, but she had no idea her life was about to become much more miserable.
