Chapter 466
Yvetteโs situation was something that could be considered, but the prospects for Gideon didnโt look promising. With a resolute gaze, Calliope declared, โBegging me wonโt help, and neither will pleading with Silas. This is something Gideon has to handle himself. If he can surpass Calista in skill, Silas would naturally choose him. But if he canโt measure up, why wouldnโt Silas pick someone as capable as Calista?โ
โCalistaโs still just a high schooler! What kind of skill could he possibly have? Gideonโs been with the company for years now. He definitely knows it better than Calista, and heโs certainly more skilled!โ
Fleur shouted, โYou know how amazing Gideon is! Didnโt you like him back then because of his talents?โ
Calliope hesitated, and then replied, โIt was a huge misunderstanding back then.โ
โWhat?โ Fleur cried.
After a brief glance at Fleur, Calliope continued, โI didnโt really know him well. If I had, I wouldnโt have fallen for him. Heโs nowhere near as capable as Silas, and not even Calista.โ
โCalliope!โ Fleur exclaimed, her emotions flaring.
โIโm just speaking the truth,โ Calliope said. โSkill isnโt something you can just claim; he simply doesnโt measure up.โ
Fleur wanted to lash out, but she held back. She still needed Calliopeโs help after all. Thinking of the long game, she decided to keep her temper in check. Once she was in Calliopeโs good graces, sheโd surely lend a hand.
Taking a deep breath, Fleur said, โCallie, you really got the wrong impression of Gideon. He still cares about you, you know. If it wasnโt for Yvette interfering, maybe youโd still be Gideonโs wife.โ
โThat would never happen,โ Calliope said, shaking her head.
Fleurโs expression shifted. โThereโs always a chance.โ
โEnough about that. Regarding Yvette, Iโve got some advice and a few herbal remedies. You can mix these herbs yourself; some are for her to take orally, and others for herbal baths. She needs at least a month of these baths to recover. Follow my instructions, and there should be no intimacy for two months. Once her health is restored, you can focus on preparing for pregnancy,โ Calliope instructed Fleur.
โAlright, tell me everything. Iโll write it down,โ Fleur said, nodding eagerly. โNo matter what, getting her pregnant is the priority.โ
Calliope looked at Fleur, puzzled by her contradictory behavior. Fleur didnโt like Yvette, yet was desperate for her to have a child.
โIs having a child that important to you?โ
โOf course! That would be my grandchild. I donโt care if Yvetteโs difficult; a grandchild is all that matters! Sheโs a handful now, but I canโt let anyone else have a child.โ
Fleur spoke with determination, โShe must give us a child. Her duty is to bear children for our family.โ
Calliope foresaw a tough road ahead for Yvette. The herbal remedies she prescribed were notoriously bitter, and Yvette would need to take them three times a day.
If she didnโt conceive, Fleur would relentlessly push for more treatments, never letting her off the hook. Yvette thought she had married into wealth and elevated her social status, but she had no idea her life was about to become much more miserable.
