Chapter 485
Gabriel poured a generous glass of whiskey for Gideon, sliding it over with a sly grin. โCome on, Gideon, letโs toast to your upcoming takeover of the Baker Group!โ
โAbsolutely, this calls for a celebration!โ Fleur chimed in, her excitement barely contained.
โWhen weโve got that witch by the ropes, she wonโt dare defy us. Itโll all be under our control!โ Fleur said with a wicked glint in her eye.
โWhatever we want, sheโll have to give it to us!โ Gabriel added, raising his glass. โAs long as Silas listens to her, we can pull her strings without breaking a sweat.โ
Once Gideon seizes control of the Baker Group, their family would be the most powerful around. Fleur was already envisioning a future where theyโd oust Silas and live the high life. With a confident smile, she turned to Gabriel. โBro, rest assured, once Gideon is in charge, he wonโt forget what youโve done for him. Youโre his uncle, after all. Heโll treat you right!โ
Gabriel nodded, furrowing his brow. โIโve always known Gideon was a smart kid. If it werenโt for Silas, heโd already be running the Baker family!โ
โAnd Eamon Baker was a fool to hand the reins to an outsider!โ Gabriel scoffed. โSilas is a Myers, not a Baker!โ
Fleur let out a cold laugh. โThe old man will realize his mistake soon enough. Heโll see how brilliant Gideon can be, and heโll regret not recognizing his potential.โ
She poured herself a drink, sipping it gracefully, a smirk never leaving her face.
Gabriel clinked his glass with Gideonโs, and though Gideon felt a twinge of unease, his mother and uncleโs words were convincing. He believed they were right. Calliope, Silas, and even his grandfather were to blame for his misfortune. Especially Calliopeโwas she really using him?
The thought boiled his blood. He downed his drink in one swift motion, just as the sound of a car engine roared from outside.
The three of them turned toward the door.
โThat was fast,โ Fleur remarked to her brother. โYour guys sure know how to get things done quickly.โ
Gabriel chuckled, leaning back. โI train my people well. None of them are slouches. They know I like things done swiftly, so they donโt waste time. If theyโre back, it means theyโve got her, and thereโs no problem with the photos.โ
โPerfect!โ Fleur crossed her legs, a malevolent smile playing on her lips.
Gideon remained silent, his gaze fixed on the door. He was waiting for Calliope to be dragged in, eager to see her humiliated and begging for mercy. The thought of her on her knees was intoxicating, a sweet revenge for the humiliation she had subjected him to.
The door swung open, and the bodyguard who had taken a beating from Calliope stumbled inside, still looking a bit dazed. He had been sick outside, but at Calliopeโs insistence, he kept his head down as he entered.
Calliope followed closely behind him. Her clothes were immaculate, her hair perfectly in place, and she seemed untouchedโas if nothing had happened at all.
