Chapter 334

Brad's sentence was cut short by a scream as I tossed my coffee in his smug face. He shot up, dripping, wiping at his soaked shirt. "What the hell, Keira? Are you out of your mind?!"

I held up my now-empty cup. "Next time you pull crap like that, I'll crack this over your headโ€”and then hand you over to the cops. Enjoy that chat."

Brad stood there, a mess in his white T-shirt, coffee dripping from his hair in sad little clumps. Honestly, he was a total loser. Still, his obnoxiousness persisted. "You think this is going to scare me? You've got it all wrโ€”"

I didn't stick around for the rest. I turned on my heel and walked out of the cafรฉ. Wayne caught up. "Who was that guy?"

"Tanya's brother," I muttered, pulling a wet wipe from my bag to clean the coffee off my fingers. "He's been annoying me for a while."

"Does he pull this often?"

"A few times," I said, tossing the wipe in a trash can.

Wayne didn't press further, and I didn't feel like elaborating. Changing the subject, I asked, "Your dad's still in the hospital, right?"

"Yeah, he's admitted. Room 812, Pulmonary Unit," Wayne replied.

I nodded. "I'll drop by later."

"Okay. I'm going to grab a few things. You do what you need to," Wayne said, waving me off.

I started to leave but paused, remembering Yuna had never had milk tea or coffee. I doubled back to the cafรฉ to get some for her. That's when I spotted Brad trailing after Wayne.

I froze. Waitโ€ฆ Wayne had let me go aheadโ€”was he handling Brad for me?

I let them disappear before stepping inside to get a milk tea and a coffee.

When I reached Yuna's hospital room, she was sitting up in bed, staring out the window, lost in thought. Seeing her like this hit me harder than I expected, especially after overhearing her conversation with Hayden earlier.

Taking a deep breath, I plastered on a smile and walked in, trying to lighten the mood. "Princess, your tea is served!"

Yuna turned, and the sadness in her eyes vanished, replaced with her bright, sparkling smile. She was a pro at hiding her feelings; she could win an Oscar.

"Did you really get this for me?" she asked, her face lighting up.

"Yep. One coffee, one milk tea. Both yours," I said, handing them over.

She took a sip of each and nodded like a connoisseur. "Both have their own vibe. I like them."

"Good, because once you're better, you can open a coffee or milk tea shop and drink as much as you want," I joked.

Yuna laughed and held up her hand for a high-five. "Deal." I'd already said it, so whether Hayden liked it or not, I raised my hand and sealed the promise.

She started with the coffee but immediately made a face at the bitterness. Still, she kept drinking. "It's not bad."

"You don't have to force it. The milk tea's sweet," I said.

"No, I want to drink it. Life's always a little bitter before the sweetness, right?" she said, way too wise for her age.

Thinking about her uncertainty, I sat down. "Yuna, after your surgery, it's going to be all sweet. I promise."

She smiled. "I know. I've got the best brother ever, and you."

She was incredibly strong. I glanced around; Hayden wasn't there. "Where's your brother?"

"He stepped out to take a call," she said, sipping her coffee.

"I'll go find him," I said, getting up.
