Chapter 507
Milly sure knew how to work her charm. I scooped her up and carried her to the car Sasha had called. On the way, I used my phone to order her a little birthday gift. Even if Milly insisted she didnโt need anything, I still wanted to do something special for her.
Sasha and Milly lived in Seavoraโs most exclusive neighborhood, and when we walked inside, the place was decked out with balloons, toys, and garlands everywhere.
โThorsten set all this up,โ Sasha said.
Looking around at all the decorations, I couldnโt help but say, โHe really does care about her.โ
โOf course,โ she replied. โBut a child doesnโt need all this. Andโฆโ She glanced over at Milly, then leaned closer. โMillyโs getting older, and people always assume Thorstenโs her grandfather. Sheโs started resenting him for it.โ
Considering his age, it wasnโt surprising people made that mistake. But honestly, who could blame Milly for feeling awkward?
Milly tugged me to her playroom, begging me to play with her, and within minutes, I was wiped. Keeping up with a kid is no joke. Just when I was starting to fade, the gift Iโd ordered arrived. โMilly, hereโs a present from me. Hope you like it!โ
I used the break to catch my breath, realizing I hadnโt seen Sasha since weโd come in. A maid brought over some coffee and fruit, so I casually asked, โWhereโs Ms. Grey?โ
The maid glanced upstairs. โShe should be upstairs.โ
I nodded and sat with Milly as she opened her gift. Moments later, Sashaโs sharp voice drifted down from upstairsโshe was definitely arguing with someone.
No wonder the maid had looked a little uneasy. Sheโd probably heard it too.
About ten minutes later, Sasha came downstairs, eyes red and puffy. She flipped her hair over her shoulder and said, โGot into a fight with Thorsten.โ
I wasnโt expecting her to be so blunt, but since she brought it up, it felt like she wanted to vent. I gave her a small smile. โYou two fight?โ
She glanced at Milly, then muttered, โHeโs worried Iโll go after his sonโs inheritance.โ
That threw me for a second, an image of Cole flashing through my mind, but I didnโt really know what to say. Family stuff was always tricky.
Still, I managed, โAre you hoping to make things official?โ
Sasha and Thorsten werenโt married, which meant she had no claim to anything in the Drago familyโunless she became Mrs. Drago.
โIf I even thought about it, heโd kill me,โ she said flatly, her words making me pause.
She was Thorstenโs lover and had a child with him. Yet, she was saying marriage wasnโt even on the table.
โI never wanted to be his wife. Can you believe that?โ She gave a strange, almost defiant smile.
Did she really mean sheโd be fine staying his mistress forever? Even if she didnโt mind, what about Milly? Would she really be okay with her daughter growing up without any formal recognition?
Before I could ask, Sashaโs expression darkened. โIโll outlast him,โ she said, gritting her teeth. โIโll watch him die.โ
I was stunned. Theyโd been together long enough to have a childโmaybe not love, but enough that wishing him dead seemed extreme.
She poured herself a glass of wine and took a long sip. โBet you didnโt think I hated him this much, did you?โ
The age difference between them flashed through my mind. โWhen you got involved with him, was itโฆ not by choice?โ
Sashaโs eyes went distant, like she was seeing something I couldnโt. โTo have me, he destroyed my boyfriend.โ
I froze, stunned, though somehow, it felt exactly like something Thorsten would do.
โHeโs got blood on his hands. So many livesโI know all about it,โ she murmured, staring into her wine glass. Her eyes looked almost bloodshot, matchingโฆ
