Chapter 507

Milly sure knew how to work her charm. I scooped her up and carried her to the car Sasha had called. On the way, I used my phone to order her a little birthday gift. Even if Milly insisted she didnโ€™t need anything, I still wanted to do something special for her.

Sasha and Milly lived in Seavoraโ€™s most exclusive neighborhood, and when we walked inside, the place was decked out with balloons, toys, and garlands everywhere.

โ€œThorsten set all this up,โ€ Sasha said.

Looking around at all the decorations, I couldnโ€™t help but say, โ€œHe really does care about her.โ€

โ€œOf course,โ€ she replied. โ€œBut a child doesnโ€™t need all this. Andโ€ฆโ€ She glanced over at Milly, then leaned closer. โ€œMillyโ€™s getting older, and people always assume Thorstenโ€™s her grandfather. Sheโ€™s started resenting him for it.โ€

Considering his age, it wasnโ€™t surprising people made that mistake. But honestly, who could blame Milly for feeling awkward?

Milly tugged me to her playroom, begging me to play with her, and within minutes, I was wiped. Keeping up with a kid is no joke. Just when I was starting to fade, the gift Iโ€™d ordered arrived. โ€œMilly, hereโ€™s a present from me. Hope you like it!โ€

I used the break to catch my breath, realizing I hadnโ€™t seen Sasha since weโ€™d come in. A maid brought over some coffee and fruit, so I casually asked, โ€œWhereโ€™s Ms. Grey?โ€

The maid glanced upstairs. โ€œShe should be upstairs.โ€

I nodded and sat with Milly as she opened her gift. Moments later, Sashaโ€™s sharp voice drifted down from upstairsโ€”she was definitely arguing with someone.

No wonder the maid had looked a little uneasy. Sheโ€™d probably heard it too.

About ten minutes later, Sasha came downstairs, eyes red and puffy. She flipped her hair over her shoulder and said, โ€œGot into a fight with Thorsten.โ€

I wasnโ€™t expecting her to be so blunt, but since she brought it up, it felt like she wanted to vent. I gave her a small smile. โ€œYou two fight?โ€

She glanced at Milly, then muttered, โ€œHeโ€™s worried Iโ€™ll go after his sonโ€™s inheritance.โ€

That threw me for a second, an image of Cole flashing through my mind, but I didnโ€™t really know what to say. Family stuff was always tricky.

Still, I managed, โ€œAre you hoping to make things official?โ€

Sasha and Thorsten werenโ€™t married, which meant she had no claim to anything in the Drago familyโ€”unless she became Mrs. Drago.

โ€œIf I even thought about it, heโ€™d kill me,โ€ she said flatly, her words making me pause.

She was Thorstenโ€™s lover and had a child with him. Yet, she was saying marriage wasnโ€™t even on the table.

โ€œI never wanted to be his wife. Can you believe that?โ€ She gave a strange, almost defiant smile.

Did she really mean sheโ€™d be fine staying his mistress forever? Even if she didnโ€™t mind, what about Milly? Would she really be okay with her daughter growing up without any formal recognition?

Before I could ask, Sashaโ€™s expression darkened. โ€œIโ€™ll outlast him,โ€ she said, gritting her teeth. โ€œIโ€™ll watch him die.โ€

I was stunned. Theyโ€™d been together long enough to have a childโ€”maybe not love, but enough that wishing him dead seemed extreme.

She poured herself a glass of wine and took a long sip. โ€œBet you didnโ€™t think I hated him this much, did you?โ€

The age difference between them flashed through my mind. โ€œWhen you got involved with him, was itโ€ฆ not by choice?โ€

Sashaโ€™s eyes went distant, like she was seeing something I couldnโ€™t. โ€œTo have me, he destroyed my boyfriend.โ€

I froze, stunned, though somehow, it felt exactly like something Thorsten would do.

โ€œHeโ€™s got blood on his hands. So many livesโ€”I know all about it,โ€ she murmured, staring into her wine glass. Her eyes looked almost bloodshot, matchingโ€ฆ
