Chapter 745
Sashaโs eyes snapped to Lena, searching her face for any sign she was serious.
โIf you want to see him, I can help,โ Lena said with a small, knowing smile. โWell, not meโKeira can help you.โ
The moment Sasha saw Lena, sheโd already guessed Keira was behind this. The second Keiraโs name came up, Sasha let out a bitter laugh. โKeira? Sheโs barely keeping her own head above water.โ
โSpeaking of which, Keira wouldnโt be in this mess if it werenโt for you.โ
Sashaโs gaze faltered. โWhat does that have to do with me?โ
Lena didnโt bother softening the blow. โMs. Grey, letโs not play games. Your daughter, Ninaโsheโs missing because you had someone take her. Isnโt she?โ
Sashaโs face flashed with panic before she slammed her hand on the couch, anger flaring. โWhat kind of nonsense are you spouting? Why would I kidnap my own daughter? Iโโ
โYou wanted to use Nina to get to Ian Carter,โ Lena interrupted.
Sashaโs lips quivered as she turned away, trying to deny it. โI didnโt.โ
โYou donโt have to be scared. Iโm not going to tell Thorsten,โ Lena said calmly.
โThen whatโs the point of saying all this?โ Sasha snapped.
Lena exhaled softly. โLet me be clearโKeira sent me. Sheโs not doing well in there, and she wants out.โ
Sasha scoffed. โShe wants out? Then she should go to the police. What does she need me for?โ
Lena chuckled lightly. โYou get Keira out, and sheโll let you see your Ian.โ
Now that everything was laid bare, Sasha didnโt respond right away. Instead, she locked her eyes on Lena, then let out a strange laughโlow and cryptic. It left Lena unsure if sheโd hit a nerve or just missed something entirely.
โKeira has plenty of people who could help her get out. Why me?โ Sasha asked finally.
Lena smiled faintly. โBecause she doesnโt want to involve Nina. Sheโs giving you another way to see the person you love.โ
Sashaโs expression darkened. She hated that Lena had said it so plainly, hated that it was true. If she hadnโt been forced into this corner, she would never have involved Nina. But Nina was missing, Thorsten didnโt care, and Sasha had no moves left.
Still, doubt lingered. Could Keira really pull this off?
โWhat are you hesitating for?โ Lena asked, reading the conflict on Sashaโs face.
Sasha stared off into the distance. Confusion and helplessness weighed heavily in her voice. โIf all my efforts couldnโt get me to Ian, how could she possibly do it?โ
Sasha had long suspected Ian was at DracoLux. Sheโd spent a fortune, pulled strings, and burned bridges, but none of it brought her closer to him.
โThereโs always someone better, Ms. Grey,โ Lena said with a faint shrug. โJust because you couldnโt doesnโt mean others canโt. And besidesโฆโ She paused for effect. โKeira has someone on the insideโsomeone whoโs on her side. You donโt, do you?โ
Sashaโs eyes narrowed. โXander?โ
Lena thought, โGuess Keiraโs connections are hardly a mystery.โ
โYou know as well as I do what Xanderโs position means,โ Lena said, her tone light but loaded.
Sasha fell silent, the wheels clearly turning in her head. Lena didnโt push. Instead, she checked her phone, which had buzzed earlier. A message from Nate popped up:
[Lena, Iโll be back next week for a couple of days. Weโll finally get to meet again.]
Before, a text like that wouldโve sparked excitement. Now, staring at the screen, she feltโฆnothing.
โDr. Lane,โ Sashaโs voice pulled her back to reality.
Lena slipped her phone away, meeting Sashaโs gaze.
โFine, Iโll get Keira out,โ Sasha said.
Lena nodded slightly, but Sasha wasnโt done. โBut I have one condition.โ
