Chapter 882
Hayden turned to Keira, his eyes brimming with a mixture of agitation and fear. Keira understood his concern. โLetโs figure out whatโs going on first. We need to trust Yuna.โ
This was the OB-GYN department. It was unusual for a young, unmarried woman like Yuna to be here, and Hayden, as her protective older brother, had every reason to be uneasy. Hayden had visited her before in Beijing, but Keira hadnโt. Yuna didnโt particularly like her, and she wasnโt one to force her presence where it wasnโt wanted. Keira had a clear conscience in the matter. According to Hayden, Yuna had been doing well at Beijing University, excelling in her studies. Yet, here she was in a place that didnโt seem to fit.
Yuna hadnโt noticed them, but her demeanor betrayed her nerves. She frequently checked her phone and stared at the call screen anxiously. After a while, she pulled out a book, seemingly trying to distract herself, but it didnโt work. With a frustrated sigh, she slapped the book over her face.
Hayden and Keira were concerned by her behavior, but they chose not to interrupt. It was better to wait and understand the situation first.
Lena soon arrived, and Keira immediately pulled her aside. Before Keira could say anything, Lena jumped in. โDonโt overthink it. I just drank too much and overslept,โ she said, defensively.
โI havenโt said anything yet. What are you confessing for?โ Keira retorted, rolling her eyes before pointing in Yunaโs direction. โHaydenโs sister is here at your OB-GYN department. Weโre trying to keep our distance, but can you check whatโs going on with her?โ
โSure, Iโll go say hi. But keep in mind, she specifically chose another doctor, probably because she didnโt want any of us to know,โ Lena replied, her logic sound.
To ensure they were informed, Lena called Keira, put her phone on speaker, and left it near Yunaโs attending physician. This way, Keira could hear their entire conversation.
Chapter 892
โWhatโs bothering you?โ the doctor asked in a professional tone.
โIโve been feeling itchyโฆ down there. And thereโs an unusual smell,โ Yuna admitted hesitantly, her voice taut with embarrassment.
โHave you been sexually active?โ The doctorโs question was direct, even blunt.
โNo!โ Yunaโs voice dropped to barely above a whisper.
โIf you have, just tell me the truth. Iโll need to examine you either way,โ the doctor said sternly, her tone like a strict disciplinarian.
โI havenโt,โ Yuna insisted, her reply louder this time, though it carried a hint of mortification.
The sound of the doctor typing furiously on her keyboard filled the air. After a moment, she stopped and said, โYour symptoms sound like a simple fungal infection. I wonโt do an examination for now. Iโll prescribe a wash for you to use. If it doesnโt improve after a week, come back and see meโonly me, not another doctor.โ
โWhy?โ Yuna asked, sounding almost naive.
โBecause Iโm familiar with your case. Unless, of course, youโve been withholding information from me,โ the doctor replied, probing for honesty.
โI havenโt,โ Yuna said firmly.
โHiding things from your doctor only delays treatment. Thereโs nothing to be embarrassed about,โ the doctor explained in a gentler tone.
Yuna didnโt respond, and the sound of the doctor typing resumed, likely inputting a prescription.
โDoctor,โ Yuna said hesitantly, her voice stopping the doctor mid-task.
โIs there something else?โ
โI want to be screened for HIV,โ Yuna said, her words sharp and deliberate, sending a jolt through both Keira and Hayden.
Haydenโs grip on Keiraโs arm tightened. She looked up at him; his face was pale, and his lips pressed into a thin line. Keiraโs heart raced, but she tried to stay calm. โLetโs wait and see what Lena finds out,โ Keira whispered.
Hayden nodded, though his eyes remained glued to the direction of the consultation room, his tension palpable.
