Chapter 949

Although carrying a baby for ten months was tough on her, he didnโ€™t have it any easier.

Amid the sound of Hayden showering, Keira called Lena. โ€œDonโ€™t act impulsively. Besides, Ron is a decent guy; donโ€™t hurt him.โ€

โ€œRea, whose friend are you?โ€ Lena protested indignantly. โ€œI havenโ€™t done anything yet, and youโ€™re already afraid Iโ€™ll hurt him. Why donโ€™t you worry about me falling for him instead?โ€

Keira remembered what Hayden had said. โ€œYou know who you have feelings for, even if you wonโ€™t admit it. The rest of us can see it clearly. You wonโ€™t fall for Ron.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t you know Iโ€™m heartless? If I say I donโ€™t love, then I donโ€™t love,โ€ Lena retorted without hesitation, never shy about ruining her own image.

โ€œLenaโ€ฆโ€

โ€œDonโ€™t try to convince me. Iโ€™ve made up my mind, unless Ron says no,โ€ Lena declared firmly.

โ€œAnd if he doesnโ€™t agree?โ€ Keira asked.

She chuckled lightly. โ€œThere arenโ€™t any three-legged toads in this world, but thereโ€™s no shortage of two-legged men. If he doesnโ€™t agree, Iโ€™ll go on blind dates and find another guy.โ€

โ€œAlright, I wonโ€™t talk to you about it anymore. I need to pack,โ€ Lena said before hanging up.

Thinking about her resolve to make Aaron give up, Keira had no choice but to call Ron. After hearing what she had to say, he laughed. โ€œReally? Thatโ€™s such a good deal!โ€

Keira was speechless. He actually sounded like heโ€™d just won the lottery.

โ€œAlright, Iโ€™m single anyway. Letโ€™s give it a shot. Iโ€™ll do my best to make this real,โ€ Ron agreed enthusiastically.

โ€œPresident Shane, Iโ€™m serious. This isnโ€™t a joke,โ€ Keira reminded him.

โ€œIโ€™m serious too. Donโ€™t worry about it. Just send me her WhatsApp. Iโ€™ll message her right now,โ€ he replied cheerfully.

Damnโ€ฆ These two were truly a match made in heaven.

Lena quickly packed her luggage, determined to leave before Aaron returned and avoid running into him. But just as she finished packing, the doorbell rang. She froze, her heart skipping a beat, but then she realized it couldnโ€™t be him. If Aaron had returned, he wouldnโ€™t be ringing the doorbell.

Assuming it was the cleaning lady, she opened the door without much thought. Moments later, she heard footsteps climbing the stairs, accompanied by a familiar voice. โ€œAaron?โ€

Her hand trembled. Why was her mother here?

In a panic, Lena tried to hide her luggage, but it was too late. Briana had already spotted it through the open bedroom door. โ€œLena, youโ€™re here? Whereโ€™s your uncle?โ€

Lena turned to face her mother. โ€œHeโ€™s not back yet.โ€

Brianaโ€™s eyes swept over the luggage and the half-packed clothes. โ€œWhatโ€™s all this?โ€

โ€œIโ€ฆ Iโ€™m going on a business trip,โ€ Lena lied, thinking quickly.

โ€œWhere to? What kind of business trip does a doctor need to go on?โ€ Brianaโ€™s tone was filled with disdain for her role as a gynecologist.

Lena smiled faintly. โ€œIโ€™m going to the UN to be the head of womenโ€™s affairs.โ€

Briana knew she was being sarcastic and rolled her eyes. โ€œFine. If your uncleโ€™s not here, Iโ€™ll talk to you instead.โ€

Lenaโ€™s scalp tingled at those words. โ€œIf itโ€™s about him, talk to him directly. Donโ€™t involve me.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re always with him, so Iโ€™ll talk to you,โ€ Briana insisted. Her words made Lenaโ€™s heart sink. Could it be that Aaron had said the same thing to her mother?

โ€œMomโ€ฆโ€

โ€œSit down,โ€ Briana ordered as she sat on the sofa. โ€œYour uncle says heโ€™s cutting ties because of someone he likes. Now, tell me who does he like?โ€
