Chapter 203

โ€œHere you go,โ€ Josiah extended his phone toward Sienna. โ€œWhatโ€™s the matter? Are you really this scared of me? Am I that intimidating?โ€

โ€œThanks,โ€ Sienna dared not provoke him; she needed his help. Still, her expression betrayed her apprehension.

โ€œWhat are you thinking about?โ€ Josiahโ€™s rage dissipated, replaced by an unusual gentleness. He teased, โ€œAre you thinking I really am scary?โ€

Before Sienna could reply, Josiah grabbed her hand, pulling her closer. Caught off guard, she almost lost her balance, falling against his chest. Josiah steadied her, one hand on her waist, the other gently tucking her hair behind her ear. He chuckled softly, his tone deliberate. โ€œSo what if Iโ€™m scary? You still care about me, donโ€™t you?โ€

Siennaโ€™s eyes widened in shock. Wait a second. What did he just say? Care about him? When did I ever care about him? she thought.

Josiah cleared his throat, his amusement evident. Her wide-eyed expression was adorable; it stirred something in him. Sienna was undeniably beautiful, and what captivated him most were her eyesโ€”bright, lively, and particularly charming when she wasn't speaking. In the past, he hadn't noticed because she talked so much. Now, with her newfound quietness, her eyes seemed to shine even brighter.

โ€œAre you staring at me like that? Did I say something wrong?โ€ Josiah gazed into them. He gestured toward her phone. โ€œIf you donโ€™t care about me, then why were you secretly looking up Maggie behind my back?โ€

Sienna blinked, understanding dawning. Oh wow. Well, well, Mr. Flynn. Someone sure is full of himself. Where does he even get these ideas? she thought.

โ€œJosiah,โ€ she began to explain.

โ€œIโ€™ve made up my mind about earlier,โ€ Josiah interrupted. Sienna froze, momentarily forgetting her explanation. Taking a deep breath, she pursed her lips. Gripping her phone tightly, she said, โ€œAs long as Rosie gets released, Iโ€™ll give you the phone. Andโ€ฆ I didnโ€™t record anything this time. I swear.โ€ Taking Yvette down wouldnโ€™t benefit Sienna; all she wanted was Rosieโ€™s safety.

โ€œSienna,โ€ Josiahโ€™s tone lacked the menace and coldness it had carried earlier in the car. โ€œI want you back. Be my girlfriend again.โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Siennaโ€™s thoughts raced. Heโ€™s that greedy? He wants to protect Yvette and have me back?

โ€œHey, hold on,โ€ Sienna was baffled. โ€œAre we even talking about the same thing? Did you forget I have a video of Yvette?โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ Josiah, hands in his pockets, spoke calmly. โ€œWhat do you plan to do? Upload it online? Go ahead. Post it. I donโ€™t care. Iโ€™ll block it. Iโ€™ll intercept every one you post.โ€ He leaned down, his face close to hers. โ€œLetโ€™s see whoโ€™s faster. You alone, or the 170,000 employees of Flynn Group?โ€ A cold dread formed on her back. โ€œArenโ€™t you afraid all 170,000 of your employees will see Yvetteโ€™s disgraceful side?โ€ He shook his head. โ€œTheyโ€™re paid by the Flynn Group to handle its business. Besides, I can always pay more. As long as thereโ€™s enough money, a secret can stay a secret forever.โ€

His gaze lingered on her pale face, a smirk curving his lips. โ€œDonโ€™t believe me? Try it. All it takes is a word from me. Any activity on your phone, on any of your social accountsโ€ฆโ€

Siennaโ€™s eyes squeezed shut, her lashes trembling. She knew she couldnโ€™t fight Josiahโ€™s wealth and power alone, but she couldnโ€™t agree to his terms. The last time she had compromised, it was for her child. She didnโ€™t want to be entangled with him again, not even for a second. And now, she was pregnant again. If he finds outโ€ฆ she thought, horrified.

โ€œJosiah,โ€ Sienna said, her voice trembling as she pointed at Maggie in desperation. โ€œYou already have a girlfriend. You donโ€™t need me.โ€

โ€œHer!โ€ Josiah chuckled softly, raising an eyebrow without explanation. โ€œYouโ€™re right,โ€ he began, his tone light and teasing. โ€œMaybe I should try someone new and get a taste of what itโ€™s like with other women.โ€ His gaze locked onto Siennaโ€™s face with an intensity that made her heart race. โ€œBut hereโ€™s the problem,โ€ he continued, his voice dropping. โ€œIโ€™ve tried, and itโ€™s useless. None of them are good enough. You, Sienna, youโ€™re the only one who truly fits me.โ€

His warm breath brushed her cheek, causing her to flinch. Sienna stared at him, her lips pressed tightly together, refusing to speak. Josiah didnโ€™t seem bothered by her silence. Instead, he chuckled softly.

โ€œNot talking? Thatโ€™s fine,โ€ he said casually. โ€œThis is a big decision, after all. Iโ€™ll give you time to think it through. Butโ€ฆโ€ His smile faded, his tone hardening. โ€œYou only get one chance. I want your decision, not your excuses.โ€ He took her hand firmly. Sienna blinked in surprise. โ€œWhere are we going?โ€ Is he planning to drag me off right now? she wondered nervously.

Josiah glanced at her, seemingly amused by her anxious reaction. โ€œYouโ€™re so impatient,โ€ he said, shaking his head. โ€œRelax. I meant what I said. Iโ€™ll give you time. But since I brought you here, itโ€™s only fair I take you back.โ€ It was late, and Josiah wasnโ€™t about to leave her alone. The night posed its own dangers, especially for a young woman. Sienna had only recently arrived in the city and had already experienced two accidents. โ€œIโ€™ll take you home,โ€ he added, leading her out of the grand hall.

โ€œMr. Flynnโ€ฆ Waitโ€ฆโ€ Before they reached the exit, Maggie came rushing up, out of breath and visibly distressed. She cast a pitiful glance at Josiah, her eyes darting to Sienna, jealousy flashing behind her innocent expression. โ€œAre weโ€ฆ?โ€

โ€œYes,โ€ Josiah replied, nodding. โ€œWe are. Sienna and I, that is. Youโ€™re not included.โ€ Maggieโ€™s face paled, her heavy makeup doing little to hide her shock. Her lip quivered, and tears streamed down her cheeks. โ€œButโ€ฆ but, Mr. Flynn, you said I was your girlfriend. Are you just going to leave meโ€ฆ?โ€

Josiahโ€™s brow furrowed as he suppressed a sigh. East Entertainmentโ€™s manager actually hired someone this clueless! This naive! Did she really take my joke seriously and think she was my girlfriend? he thought incredulously. For the record, he didnโ€™t even know her before today.

Realizing Maggie hadnโ€™t caught on to his plan to rile up Sienna, Josiah grew impatient. It proved somewhat effective; at least, Sienna secretly looked into Maggie.

โ€œFine,โ€ he said flatly. โ€œThen let me make it official. Weโ€™re breaking up.โ€ Without giving her a chance to respond, he resumed walking, his grip on Sienna unwavering.

โ€œHeyโ€ฆโ€ Sienna protested, glancing back at Maggie, who was now sobbing openly. She looked up at Josiah, her eyes wide with disbelief. What a jerk, she thought.

Noticing her expression, Josiah smirked. โ€œWhat? Got something to say?โ€

Sienna scoffed, her voice laced with sarcasm. โ€œYouโ€™re so ruthless when youโ€™re dumping someone. So why couldnโ€™t you take it directly when I broke up with you?โ€

โ€œOh?โ€ Josiah stopped abruptly, turning to face her. โ€œDo you want to interfere in my business?โ€ His deep eyes were intense. โ€œFine,โ€ he said, โ€œbut youโ€™ll have to become my girlfriend first.โ€ His tone softened for a brief moment. โ€œSienna, listen to me. If we get back together this time, and I donโ€™t mess up in a big way, you wonโ€™t be allowed to dump me so easily. Got it?โ€
