Chapter 228
Sienna could knit for herself, but Josiah sensed this project wasn't for her. He wondered for whom it was intended.
Sienna smiled lightly. "Are you grilling me?" She took the bag from his hands and calmly added, "Who else could it be for? It's for you."
"For me?" Josiah repeated incredulously, stunned. "Me?"
"Yep," Sienna nodded earnestly, pulling out the yarn to check. "I plan to knit you a sweater, and this yarn should be enough." She gestured towards him as she spoke.
Josiah stood momentarily dazed before another question struck him. "What about this...fiery red color?"
"Is there a problem?" Sienna pouted slightly. "It's a great color. You shouldn't only wear black and white. You're still young; those choices can get pretty boring."
She felt pleased with her color choice. "A bright color like this needs someone with your good looks to really make it shine."
Josiah raised an eyebrow, unable to hide his smile. "I think so too." Now, the fiery red yarn seemed much more appealing. He reached out to touch it. "It's really soft."
"Isn't it? Once it's knit into a sweater, it will definitely keep you warm." Sienna playfully swatted his hand away. "Don't touch it; you might get it dirty."
"Aw, come on," Josiah pulled his hand back and smiled. "If I can't touch the yarn, I'll just touch your hand instead. Why did you decide to knit a sweater for me?"
Sienna pointed to the watch on her left wrist. "Well, you gave me such a wonderful gift, and I didn't have anything to give in return, so I thought I'd knit you a sweater. Of course, it's not as nice as your watch, so please don't despise it."
"What are you saying?" Josiah interrupted, a smile spreading across his face. "How could I ever despise it? I love it; I will wear it proudly."
In that moment, his gaze and smile were genuine and pure. Sienna found herself getting lost in his eyes before instinctively pulling her hand away. "Got it. I'll let you know when it's done."
"Sounds good."
As the waitress arrived with their meals, Josiah served Sienna, asking, "What should we do after we finish eating?"
"Hmm," Sienna was confused by the question.
"For example, shopping or going somewhere?"
Sienna shook her head. "No shopping; I'm not interested in buying anything."
Josiah nodded, remembering Sienna wasn't really into shopping. After thinking for a moment, he suggested, "How about we watch a movie instead?"
Sienna blinked in surprise, looking up at him incredulously. Josiah felt a bit shy under her gaze and said, "Isn't that what couples usually do on dates? We haven't gone to the cinema together yet."
With that, he pulled out his phone. "I'll buy the tickets." He opened the ticketing app and showed it to Sienna. "What movie do you want to see? Pick one." His tone was warm.
Sienna scrolled through the phone before choosing a comedy. "Let's go with this one."
"Alright."
After leaving Lucky Dining, they drove to a nearby cinema. Even on a weekday, the prime evening show drew a crowd, and a long line formed at the ticket counter.
"Wait for me here," Josiah told Sienna. "It's too crowded. I'll grab the tickets and come right back."
"Okay, sure." Sienna nodded, watching him make his way to the counter. His tall figure and good looks naturally caught the attention of people nearby.
"He's so tall!" "And hot!" "Hey, he's alone." "Does he not have a girlfriend?"
By the time Josiah returned with the tickets, he had attracted several curious onlookers. He tucked the tickets into his pocket.
"Hello!" A bold girl approached Josiah, stopping him in his tracks.
Josiah frowned. "Is there something you need?"
The girl seemed nervous as she raised her phone. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but can I add you as a friend?"
Josiah quickly understood. He promptly said, "Excuse me, I don't have a phone, and my girlfriend is waiting for me." He waved his arm towards Sienna and moved away.
The girl walked away disappointed. She thought, 'Of course, all the good-looking guys are already taken.'
"I'm back!" Josiah said.
Sienna burst out laughing.
"What are you laughing at?" Josiah asked, confused. "Am I that funny?"
"Yes!" Sienna giggled. She had heard the entire exchange. "Josiah, can't you come up with a more believable excuse? Who doesn't have a phone?"
Josiah shrugged, unfazed. "This works well; it clearly shows I'm not interested in her." While that was true, it still felt a bit harsh.
"Look how loyal I am to you, yet you laugh at me," Josiah teased, wrapping an arm around her and gesturing towards the snack stand. "Want me to buy you some snacks?" Other girls walked by with popcorn and milkshakes.
"No, thank you," Sienna wrinkled her nose in refusal. "With all those calories, I worry about my figure." Yet she hesitated. "How about you buy me a lollipop instead? Just one."
"Sure." Josiah smiled, ruffling her hair. "I'll go get that for you."
"Great!"
This time, they walked hand in hand. Faced with the different flavors, Sienna was overwhelmed.
Josiah asked, "Which one should I pick?"
Sienna pointed to one option. "How about this one?"
"Okay."
"Wait!" She reconsidered, pulling Josiah back. "Let's go with this one." But she still couldn't decide.
Her indecision made Josiah chuckle softly. "No need to stress." He turned to the vendor. "These two, please."
"Certainly."
"Hey!" Sienna quickly grabbed his arm. "I can't eat that much!" Even though they were just candies, she had already eaten enough for dinner.
"Don't worry," Josiah smiled as he paid and handed the two lollipops to Sienna. "If you can't finish, I'll help you out."
"Alright then." Sienna accepted them, a big smile on her face.
At that moment, Josiah was a little stunned. Sienna was smiling; it was the first time she had laughed like this in front of him since they got together.
As the movie started, it proved really entertaining. Sienna was glued to the screen, while Josiah's focus shifted mostly to her. Suddenly, his phone vibrated.
Josiah glanced at it for a moment. After the call ended, he typed a message: [Please contact Howard directly.]
