Chapter 257

Worried Rosie would be agitated upon waking, the nurse secured her hands and feet to prevent further rash actions.

In the ward, Sienna and Howard exchanged a look. Howard frowned. "Can you contact her family?" he asked Sienna.

Sienna shook her head silently.

Howard clarified, "I don't mean her husband; I mean her parents."

"I'm afraid that will be difficult," Sienna replied, shaking her head again. She knew a little about Rosie's background. "Rosie's parents are divorced. She lived with her mother, who emigrated years ago and only recently returned when Rosie got married. Rosie originally went abroad with her mother and met Daniel while he was studying there. After his graduation, she followed him to Jelacrity. As for her father, he lives in Feiarity, remarried, and has a new family. Rosie rarely contacted him."

Sienna reflected on Rosie's old apartment in City Pearl, concluding her father showed little concern for her. Considering Rosie's experiences, Sienna surmised her infrequent contact with her parents stemmed from the "wedding night scandal." Many parents love their children, but some prioritize their own reputation above their children's well-being.

Sienna sighed. Like herself, Rosie was a pitiable figure, lacking parental affection.

Howard understood, gazing at the sleeping girl. "She's helpless," he murmured.

"I understand," he nodded, rising to his feet.

Sienna stood as well. "Brother, are you leaving?"

"No," Howard shook his head. "She needs someone. I'll arrange an experienced caregiver."

"Thank you so much," Sienna said, her heart warmed by his sincerity. "Thank you for Rosie."

"You're welcome," Howard dismissed it casually. These were minor matters to him. He was already considering whether a caregiver would suffice.

That evening, Josiah received a message from Sienna, requesting a hospital pickup. Rosie had been sedated and remained asleep. The caregiver Howard hired was already present. After giving instructions, Sienna left the ward. The elevator was crowded during rush hour.

"Move aside!" someone shouted.

The crowd jostled Sienna, causing her to stumble.

"Sienna!" A strong arm steadied her. She looked up to see Josiah.

Sienna smiled gratefully. "You're here." She had assumed he would wait in the car.

Josiah frowned at the crowded elevator. "It's a good thing I came, or you would have been pushed around."

"What are you talking about?" Sienna chuckled. "It's just a crowded elevator. Some people simply lack manners."

"Move! Everyone, move!" The same arrogant male voice forcefully cleared a path. "Take your time, sir."

Intrigued by the commotion, Sienna stood on tiptoe to see "sir."

A man in a suit exited the elevator. He appeared too young to be middle-aged, yet not quite elderly. Sienna mused that if he had children early, he could be her grandfather. His youthful appearance was likely due to good skincare; he was also quite handsome, possessing remarkable presence even at his age. She found him strangely familiar.

"What are you looking at?" Josiah blocked her view. "What's so fascinating about an old man?"

How could she explain? Josiah clearly wasn't pleased. "Who is that man? He seems so arrogant," she whispered instead. Even Miranda's hospital visits lacked such a grand entrance. Josiah shielded Sienna from the crowd. "Andy Evans. Heard of him?"

"Andy Evans!" Sienna's eyes widened. She gasped, covering her mouth. "He's Andy Evans! Really?"

"Really," Josiah chuckled. "Andy is human, too. Is it necessary to react as if you've seen a god?"

Sienna glared, nudging his chest. "It's just my first time seeing him in person. I'm a little emotional."

The Evans family made their fortune in finance; Andy was exceptionally talented, becoming a renowned financial tycoon by twenty. The name Andy Evans was legendary.

Seeing Sienna's admiration, Josiah's eyes sharpened. "It's a pity the Evans family ends with him."

"What?" Sienna asked, startled.

After Andy left and the crowd dispersed, Josiah put his arm around Sienna. "Haven't you heard? That old man's personal life is a mess."

"I've heard something, but I'm not sure," Sienna admitted. "He seems to have several 'wives.'"

"Yes," Josiah nodded sardonically. "Many wives, many children, but unfortunately, none of them turned out well." Andy's children, lacking ability, engaged in scheming, fighting, and even killing each other.

Looking in Andy's direction, Josiah let out a cold laugh. "Just wait. The Lu family is about to fall apart. Their glory won't last."

Sienna sighed. "Just like on TV."

Josiah looked down at her, knowing reality was far crueler.

The next day, Sienna visited Rosie early, only to find the ward empty. Rosie was gone.

"Excuse me," Sienna rushed to the nurse's station. "Where is the patient in roomโ€ฆ?"

"Are you referring to Rosie?" the nurse asked.

"Yes," Sienna replied.

The nurse gave Sienna a strange look. "You're her friend? She's already been discharged."

"What?" Sienna was shocked. "Who handled her discharge?"

"Her family," the nurse replied.

Sienna couldn't imagine which family member it could be. If Rosie had been picked up by family, she would have contacted Sienna. The more she thought about it, the more wrong it felt. She called Rosie, but received a cold automated message: "Sorry, the number you dialed is temporarily unavailable." Several more attempts yielded the same result.
