Chapter 259
Josiah returned with a plate, settling onto the couch armrest instead of sitting down. โIโm holding the plate for you, so you can relax and eat.โ Sienna didnโt comment on his unnecessary assistance, picking up a piece of grilled salmon and eating it.
Josiah silently admired her, then hesitantly asked, โHave you seen Gedric?โ
Sienna paused, shaking her head. โNo. Is he here?โ
โYeah,โ Josiah indicated Gedricโs location. โOver there. See?โ
โOkay,โ Sienna replied casually.
Josiah continued, โHow about the girl next to him? Did you notice her?โ
Sienna shot him a look. โYes. Whatโs your point?โ She wondered if Josiah recognized Reyna as her kidnapper. Apparently, he didnโt.
โHer last name is Fischer,โ Josiah said, his gaze darkening. โI canโt recall her first name.โ
โHer father is a professor heading the Physics Department at Jeiacrity University, and her mother runs a supermarket. Sheโs a good match for Cedric,โ Sienna smirked. โYeah, she sure seemed to know a lot.โ
It was a perfect match, she mused. When Larry first met Tiffany, he was a struggling college student. Tiffany, a sharp businesswoman, ran a small, profitable convenience store. She supported Larry through school, funding his doctorate and subsequent faculty position. Her business thrived, expanding into a supermarket chain. Later, Sienna was born. Then, one day, Tiffany's sister Tania appeared, pregnant and distraught.
โAre you okay, Sienna?โ Josiah waved his hand before her face, concerned. โWhatโs wrong? Is it because Cedric has a girlfriend? Are you upset?โ
โOf course not,โ Sienna replied, returning to the present. โI just think the girl looks familiar.โ
โReally?โ Josiah raised an eyebrow, glancing at Reyna. โNowadays, all these girls look the same with makeup.โ
He gently took her hand. โI can tell youโre different. Youโre more beautiful than all of them.โ
Sienna blushed, lightly pushing him away. She pointed to the plate. โThe salmon is delicious. Go get some more.โ
Josiah, smiling, stood and retrieved more food. As soon as he left, Siennaโs smile faded. Cedric and Reyna dating didn't make her jealous; she felt sorry for him. She thought, โForget her parents. Reyna threatened and kidnapped someone for personal gain. Sheโs a terrible person. Does Cedric really know her? Should I get involved?โ She felt conflicted and uncertain.
The next morning, Sienna arrived at the Lightning Dance early. Before she could change, someone called for her. โMs. Scott is here. She wants to see you.โ
โOkay, Iโll be right there,โ Sienna replied.
Brenda, still recovering from serious injuries sustained in Fliraty, was resting.
โHi, Ms. Scott,โ Sienna knocked and entered the break room, standing respectfully. โI hope you feel better.โ
โI do,โ Brenda gestured to her leg. โYou canโt rush things.โ She had a request. โCome sit.โ
โAlright.โ Sienna sat. โMs. Scott, is there something you need?โ
Brenda was direct. โSienna, I want to assign you as a dance consultant for a variety dance show at the TV station.โ
Sienna was surprised. โBut, Ms. Scott, weโve been on a break for over a month. Arenโt we about to start performing again?โ
โNot yet,โ Brenda sighed. โThe energy is depleted. Some dancers canโt perform again.โ
Sienna knew; muscle and bone injuries were devastating for dancers. Two lead dancers wouldnโt return. Brenda had found replacements, but the troupeโs appeal was diminished.
Brenda continued, โSienna, I need you to help rebuild the troupeโs reputation through this variety show. Do you understand?โ Internet fame was a double-edged sword. โSienna, I trust you. I believe in your passion.โ
The entertainment industry was chaotic. Brenda needed someone reliable.
Sienna nodded firmly. โI understand, Ms. Scott. Iโll do it properly.โ
โGood.โ Brenda smiled. โIโll send your information to the crew. Theyโll contact you soon!โ
โThank you, Ms. Scott,โ Sienna replied.
That afternoon, Sienna received a call from the crew; theyโd meet Monday. Around four or five, snow began to fall. Sienna received a message from Josiah: [Iโll be at the Lightning Dance entrance in 10 minutes.] He had prior commitments tomorrow.
Sienna was pleased; this gave her time with Joyce, who needed new clothes.
After changing, Sienna left the Lightning Dance. As she reached the entrance, her phone rang. Expecting Josiah, she saw it was an unknown number.
Puzzled, she answered, โHello!โ
The caller was silent.
Sienna frowned, raising her voice. โCan you hear me? Whoโs this? Who are you looking for?โ
Silence.
โHello!โ A feeling of unease crept over her, and then, she had an accident.
