Chapter 259

Josiah returned with a plate, settling onto the couch armrest instead of sitting down. โ€œIโ€™m holding the plate for you, so you can relax and eat.โ€ Sienna didnโ€™t comment on his unnecessary assistance, picking up a piece of grilled salmon and eating it.

Josiah silently admired her, then hesitantly asked, โ€œHave you seen Gedric?โ€

Sienna paused, shaking her head. โ€œNo. Is he here?โ€

โ€œYeah,โ€ Josiah indicated Gedricโ€™s location. โ€œOver there. See?โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ Sienna replied casually.

Josiah continued, โ€œHow about the girl next to him? Did you notice her?โ€

Sienna shot him a look. โ€œYes. Whatโ€™s your point?โ€ She wondered if Josiah recognized Reyna as her kidnapper. Apparently, he didnโ€™t.

โ€œHer last name is Fischer,โ€ Josiah said, his gaze darkening. โ€œI canโ€™t recall her first name.โ€

โ€œHer father is a professor heading the Physics Department at Jeiacrity University, and her mother runs a supermarket. Sheโ€™s a good match for Cedric,โ€ Sienna smirked. โ€œYeah, she sure seemed to know a lot.โ€

It was a perfect match, she mused. When Larry first met Tiffany, he was a struggling college student. Tiffany, a sharp businesswoman, ran a small, profitable convenience store. She supported Larry through school, funding his doctorate and subsequent faculty position. Her business thrived, expanding into a supermarket chain. Later, Sienna was born. Then, one day, Tiffany's sister Tania appeared, pregnant and distraught.

โ€œAre you okay, Sienna?โ€ Josiah waved his hand before her face, concerned. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong? Is it because Cedric has a girlfriend? Are you upset?โ€

โ€œOf course not,โ€ Sienna replied, returning to the present. โ€œI just think the girl looks familiar.โ€

โ€œReally?โ€ Josiah raised an eyebrow, glancing at Reyna. โ€œNowadays, all these girls look the same with makeup.โ€

He gently took her hand. โ€œI can tell youโ€™re different. Youโ€™re more beautiful than all of them.โ€

Sienna blushed, lightly pushing him away. She pointed to the plate. โ€œThe salmon is delicious. Go get some more.โ€

Josiah, smiling, stood and retrieved more food. As soon as he left, Siennaโ€™s smile faded. Cedric and Reyna dating didn't make her jealous; she felt sorry for him. She thought, โ€˜Forget her parents. Reyna threatened and kidnapped someone for personal gain. Sheโ€™s a terrible person. Does Cedric really know her? Should I get involved?โ€™ She felt conflicted and uncertain.

The next morning, Sienna arrived at the Lightning Dance early. Before she could change, someone called for her. โ€œMs. Scott is here. She wants to see you.โ€

โ€œOkay, Iโ€™ll be right there,โ€ Sienna replied.

Brenda, still recovering from serious injuries sustained in Fliraty, was resting.

โ€œHi, Ms. Scott,โ€ Sienna knocked and entered the break room, standing respectfully. โ€œI hope you feel better.โ€

โ€œI do,โ€ Brenda gestured to her leg. โ€œYou canโ€™t rush things.โ€ She had a request. โ€œCome sit.โ€

โ€œAlright.โ€ Sienna sat. โ€œMs. Scott, is there something you need?โ€

Brenda was direct. โ€œSienna, I want to assign you as a dance consultant for a variety dance show at the TV station.โ€

Sienna was surprised. โ€œBut, Ms. Scott, weโ€™ve been on a break for over a month. Arenโ€™t we about to start performing again?โ€

โ€œNot yet,โ€ Brenda sighed. โ€œThe energy is depleted. Some dancers canโ€™t perform again.โ€

Sienna knew; muscle and bone injuries were devastating for dancers. Two lead dancers wouldnโ€™t return. Brenda had found replacements, but the troupeโ€™s appeal was diminished.

Brenda continued, โ€œSienna, I need you to help rebuild the troupeโ€™s reputation through this variety show. Do you understand?โ€ Internet fame was a double-edged sword. โ€œSienna, I trust you. I believe in your passion.โ€

The entertainment industry was chaotic. Brenda needed someone reliable.

Sienna nodded firmly. โ€œI understand, Ms. Scott. Iโ€™ll do it properly.โ€

โ€œGood.โ€ Brenda smiled. โ€œIโ€™ll send your information to the crew. Theyโ€™ll contact you soon!โ€

โ€œThank you, Ms. Scott,โ€ Sienna replied.

That afternoon, Sienna received a call from the crew; theyโ€™d meet Monday. Around four or five, snow began to fall. Sienna received a message from Josiah: [Iโ€™ll be at the Lightning Dance entrance in 10 minutes.] He had prior commitments tomorrow.

Sienna was pleased; this gave her time with Joyce, who needed new clothes.

After changing, Sienna left the Lightning Dance. As she reached the entrance, her phone rang. Expecting Josiah, she saw it was an unknown number.

Puzzled, she answered, โ€œHello!โ€

The caller was silent.

Sienna frowned, raising her voice. โ€œCan you hear me? Whoโ€™s this? Who are you looking for?โ€

Silence.

โ€œHello!โ€ A feeling of unease crept over her, and then, she had an accident.
