Chapter 273

Hearing a noise, Sienna and Cedric stopped and turned. It was Josiah. Sienna, surprised, wondered why he was there at that hour.

โ€œYouโ€™re here,โ€ Sienna said, instinctively pushing Cedric aside. She stepped in front of him, worried Josiah might hurt him, based on past experiences. This protective instinct only fueled Josiahโ€™s anger.

โ€œHa,โ€ Josiah chuckled darkly, approaching slowly and menacingly. โ€œTalk outside? No. Letโ€™s talk right here. So tell me, what are you doing?โ€

Cedric reflexively resisted, but Josiah suppressed him, forcing him back against the conference table.

โ€œCedric!โ€ Sienna paled, hurrying to Josiahโ€™s side and pulling his arm. โ€œJosiah, calm down!โ€

โ€œCalm down?โ€ Josiah shouted, his eyes blazing. โ€œYouโ€™re here, cheating on me, and you want me to calm down?โ€

He sneered, turning to Cedric. โ€œYouโ€™ve got guts, daring to touch my girl. But letโ€™s see if you can back that up.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t!โ€ Sienna lunged, grabbing Josiahโ€™s raised arm. Knowing Cedric stood no chance against him, she pleaded, โ€œJosiah, letโ€™s go home. We can talk about this there, okay?โ€ Unaware her words only agitated him further.

Josiah narrowed his eyes, looking at her tear-stained face. Cupping her cheek, his fingertips traced her tears. โ€œWho are you crying for?โ€ he chuckled.

Seeing the madness in his eyes, Sienna clung to his arm, shouting, โ€œCedric, run!โ€

โ€œSienna Shaw,โ€ Josiah pronounced sharply, his expression hardening. โ€œHow dare you stand up for him?โ€ With a swift movement, he flung her away.

โ€œOw,โ€ Sienna gasped. He hadnโ€™t used much force, intending only to stop her interference, but the push sent her stumbling back. Her elbow hit the tableโ€™s sharp edge, causing a sharp pain. โ€œAhโ€ฆโ€

That cry brought both men back to reality. They froze, their attention snapping to Sienna. Clutching her arm, she bent over, struggling to stand.

โ€œSienna,โ€ Josiahโ€™s face froze. He released Cedric, strode to Sienna, and gently grasped her arm.

โ€œIt hurts,โ€ Sienna winced.

Josiahโ€™s face paled. He didnโ€™t dare touch her again, instead sweeping her into his arms. โ€œWe need to get to the hospital.โ€

โ€œNot so fast,โ€ Cedric blocked his way. โ€œYou can go, but Sienna stays here.โ€ He had just learned the truthโ€”he had lost Sienna because of him. Seeing Josiah hurt her filled him with regret and guilt.

Cedric, his neck stiff and voice angry, said, โ€œJosiah, you went to great lengths to set Sienna up, but now youโ€™re not even treating herโ€ฆ You set her up. Just let her go.โ€

Josiah caught the words โ€œset her up,โ€ and his face darkened. โ€œWhat do you mean by that?โ€

โ€œWhat? Are you too proud to admit it, Josiah?โ€ Cedric countered. โ€œI know about Fliraty. Sienna wasnโ€™t involved; this was all you.โ€

Josiah hadnโ€™t thought about Fliraty in a while. He hadnโ€™t expected Cedric to know.

โ€œOhโ€ฆโ€ Josiah suddenly understood. He looked down at Sienna. โ€œNo wonder they were hugging and crying,โ€ he mocked inwardly. โ€œHow touching.โ€

โ€œI did it, so what?โ€ Josiah asked indifferently, his chin high, eyes slightly lowered. โ€œAre you going to take her back?โ€

Cedricโ€™s heart raced. โ€œJust give her back to me.โ€

โ€œTsk,โ€ Josiah raised an eyebrow, chuckling softly. โ€œDo you really think you can? Maybe deal with your own family first.โ€

Cedric began to argue, but Sienna interrupted. She shook her head, signaling him to stop. Then, looking at Josiah, she said, โ€œYou misunderstood. Iโ€™m fine with Josiah. He didnโ€™t treat me badlyโ€ฆโ€ She tugged at his sleeve. โ€œLetโ€™s go.โ€

โ€œSienna,โ€ Cedric called.

โ€œHumph,โ€ Josiah snorted contemptuously. โ€œDid you hear that? Get out of the way.โ€

He leaned down, whispering intimately, โ€œAs you wish. Letโ€™s goโ€ฆโ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ Sienna nodded, snuggling closer. Looking away from Cedric, she whispered, โ€œIโ€™m sorry, Cedric. This is for the best.โ€

Cedric watched them leave, feeling as if a piece of his heart had been ripped out. He gripped the table, unsteady. โ€œSienna, you lied to me. Youโ€™re not happy, are you?โ€ he wondered.

Outside, the tenderness vanished from Josiahโ€™s face. This was far from over. But Sienna was hurt, so he would take her to the hospital first.

He opened the car door and helped Sienna inside. As the car started, Sienna spoke. โ€œIโ€™m not going to the hospital.โ€

Josiah frowned. Is she being difficult with me now? he thought. After everything today, whoโ€™s truly in the wrong?

โ€œSienna,โ€ Josiah frowned, suppressing his displeasure. โ€œYour arm is hurt. Are you really going to keep arguing with me right now?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m not arguing,โ€ Sienna shook her head. โ€œI just donโ€™t want to go to the hospital.โ€

โ€œYouโ€ฆโ€ Josiah pressed his lips together, struggling to stay calm. โ€œYouโ€™ve hurt your elbow. It hurts when you touch it, and you might have broken a bone.โ€

She knew that; that was why she didnโ€™t want to go. An X-ray could endanger her pregnancy. She couldnโ€™t explain that, stubbornly replying, โ€œAnyway, Iโ€™m not going to the hospital.โ€
