Chapter 274
Back at Silver Beach, the car stopped. Sienna, without waiting for Josiah, pushed open the door and exited. Josiah was momentarily taken aback, then snorted silently. He couldn't understand her sudden boldness.
By the time he reached the living room, Sienna had already gone upstairs. He followed, pausing at the master bedroom door, but ultimately continued to his study. He'd barely sat down when his phone rang. It was Yvette.
"Hello," Josiah answered.
"Hey, Josiah," Yvette said, calling from her car after leaving the TV station. "I went to the archive room, and… everything okay with you and Sienna?"
Josiah remained silent. Yvette continued, "But you were already gone. Something seemed wrong. Can I ask you something? Do Sienna and Cedric meet up often? Do they really see each other that much?"
Josiah, feeling a surge of anger, didn't respond. Yvette, seeming worried, hesitated. "What I'm about to say might sound harsh, but I need to be honest for your sake. Are you sure this was just a one-time thing? What are the odds we just happened to walk in on them?"
Yvette sighed. "I warned you from the start that she wasn't being sincere. I told you not to get too attached—"
Josiah interrupted, "Yvette, it's late. Go home and rest." He hung up.
"Josiah," Yvette muttered, a smug smile forming on her lips. "Have I lost to Sienna? Not necessarily. We're both orphans, and I joined the Flynn family before her. If I couldn't find happiness, why should she?"
Meanwhile, Josiah replayed the conversation. "Does Sienna really see Cedric often?" he wondered. It didn't make sense; they'd been inseparable. Yet, doubt lingered. He pressed his hand to his forehead, fighting a headache.
A soft knock sounded at the study door. He smirked, thinking it was Sienna, finally coming to apologize and explain her relationship with Cedric. He'd forgive her.
"Come in," Josiah called, trying to sound steady.
The door opened, revealing not Sienna, but the home helper. She said, "Mr. Flynn, is Ms. Shaw hurt? She asked for ice for her swollen arm. Should we call a doctor?"
"Her arm is swollen?" Josiah frowned. "Okay, I understand. I'll send you a bonus later, the same amount as last time."
"Thank you, Mr. Flynn," the helper replied, thinking, Mr. Flynn really dotes on Ms. Shaw. She recalled his previous $3,000 reward for taking Sienna to the hospital.
Josiah went to the master bedroom. The door was unlocked. It was 11:56 PM.
Sienna sat at the vanity, icing her elbow. Hearing the door open, she looked up and saw Josiah.
He walked over, gently lifting her arm. He saw the swelling. "Get up. We're going to the hospital," he said patiently, fearing she'd resist and hurt herself further.
"Didn't I tell you I'm not going?" Sienna retorted.
Josiah's face darkened. "You think an ice pack will fix the swelling?"
"I don't know," Sienna said honestly. "I'm just trying."
Josiah lost his temper. "Sienna, who are you being stubborn for? Because I hit Cedric, you're going to hurt yourself too? Or are you waiting for Cedric to come before you're willing to go to the hospital?"
Sienna was speechless.
"Humph," Josiah scoffed. "Forget that idea. You're not going to get what you want. If you don't want to go to the hospital, then just stay in pain." He left, slamming the door.
Sienna chuckled softly, continuing to ice her elbow. She knew she'd need to go to the hospital tomorrow.
Early the next morning, Josiah heard Sienna whimpering. Her arm was even more swollen. He knew he couldn't let her avoid it any longer.
"Get up. Let's go to the hospital," he said, lifting her carefully.
Sienna, despite protesting, was no match for his strength. She cupped his face, pleading, "Don't you have to go to the office? I can go myself."
Josiah narrowed his eyes. Why doesn't she want me to go with her? Does she have an appointment with Cedric? Anger flared. "No hurry. I'll take you to the hospital first."
He carried her downstairs. "Wait here, I'll get the car." He instructed the home helper to get Sienna's things. But as soon as he let go, Sienna ran upstairs.
"Stop!" Josiah chased after her. "Why are you running?"
Sienna twisted her ankle and fell, Josiah catching her. "Careful."
Sienna collapsed. "Sienna!" Josiah exclaimed, picking her up. He sent the home helper to call his bodyguards.
At the hospital, Josiah anxiously asked, "Doctor, how is my wife? She fainted. Is it the pain? Is she in shock?"
The doctor replied, "Mr. Flynn, her fainting has nothing to do with her arm. She fainted because she's pregnant."
