Chapter 276
Veeneโs heart skipped a beat; joy and excitement surged within her. She looked up at Josiah. โYou heard her. She admitted it herself!โ
Josiah, however, remained focused on Sienna. His voice was a low growl. โLetโs go inside.โ
โWhy go inside?โ Sienna laughed dryly. โDidnโt you hear me clearly just now? Let me repeat myself: My baby is not yours.โ This time, her gaze met his directly.
โEnough! Shut up!โ Josiah roared, raising his fist.
Sienna flinched, instinctively closing her eyes and raising her hands to protect her head. A loud โthumpโ echoed as his fist connected with the wall behind her.
Sienna opened her eyes, confused. Josiahโs grim face was inches from hers. He trembled with barely controlled anger. โSiennaโฆโ The punch seemed to have drained his energy.
He managed a weak smile, devoid of warmth. โYouโฆ how could you treat me like this? How can you even face me?โ He grabbed her wrist. โYou donโt want to stay in the hospital? Fine, come home with me.โ With a swift motion, he lifted her into his arms.
Josiah Yvette stood there, completely ignored. This was unprecedented. She silently clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms. Heโs been cheated on, but he still canโt let her go. He loved her that much.
Josiah carried Sienna out of the hospital and into the car. Sienna silently clenched her hands, her heart pounding. She hadnโt anticipated this. She had successfully conceived another baby, but just as she worried about how to tell Josiah, Yvette had done her a huge favor. He would dump me, wouldnโt he? What man could tolerate being cheated on? she thought.
They returned to Silver Beach. Sienna frowned. He actually brought me back to Silver Beach. Why? Shouldnโt he have kicked me out?
As Sienna reached for the door, Josiah stopped her. โDonโt move,โ he said grimly. โWait.โ
Sienna was stunned. She was simply trying to leave the car.
Josh exited the car, circled to Siennaโs side, and carefully lifted her out, his arms shaking slightly. Maintaining his composure, Josiah carried Sienna to the master bedroom, gently laid her on the bed, pulled the quilt over her, and left without a word.
Sienna was at a loss. No matter what he was thinking, she was pregnant, and she needed to leave Silver Beach. She lifted the quilt, got out of bed, and headed downstairs.
โMs. Shaw,โ Romilly, the home helper, called from the balcony where she was hanging laundry. โMr. Flynn said you didnโt eat anything this morning and wanted me to make you something. Iโll whip something up right away.โ
Sienna was surprised. Did Josiah really tell Romilly that before he left? She had to admit he could be incredibly thoughtful sometimes, though he wasn't always nice, and his kindness wasn't exclusive to her. She no longer wanted his consideration; she needed to escape him.
โNo need, Romilly. Iโm leaving now.โ Sienna waved goodbye as she headed for the front door. It was almost noon; she was late for her daily visit to Sunshine Neighborhood, and Joyce would be worried.
However, a tall young man stood at the door. โMs. Shaw,โ he said.
โJames.โ Sienna recognized Josiahโs bodyguard. Both Flynn brothers had bodyguards; sheโd never understood why until nowโtheir childhood kidnapping. But what did James want?
โMs. Shaw, Mr. Flynn said you need to rest at home,โ he stated firmly.
Sienna was stunned. James added, โMs. Shaw, if you need anything, just let me know.โ His tone was respectful, but his words carried an undeniable weight.
Sienna sneered. โJames, just tell me what Josiah really said.โ
James hesitated. โWellโฆโ
โSay it,โ Sienna urged.
James confessed, โMr. Flynn saidโฆ keep an eye on her. Donโt let her leave Silver Beach or see anyone.โ
Sienna was aghast. House arrest! What right does he have? she thought.
โWhat if I insist on going out?โ Sienna asked.
James stood tall. โMs. Shaw, with me here, you wonโt get past this door.โ
Sienna felt trapped. Frustrated, she returned inside. She wouldn't make it to Sunshine Neighborhood. Joyce would be disappointed, but it didn't matter; her little brother or sister was on the way. Joyce, wait a little longer for Mommy, Sienna thought.
She couldnโt go to Sunshine Neighborhood, but what about the TV station? That was her job. Sienna tried to leave but was stopped by James again.
โMove,โ Sienna frowned. โIโm going to the TV station. Am I not even allowed to go to work now?โ
James remained unmoved. โI only listen to Mr. Flynn.โ Regarding Siennaโs work, he couldnโt and wouldnโt care.
Sienna laughed angrily. โFine, I will talk to him myself.โ
She called Josiah, but he didnโt answer. She tried repeatedly, but he ignored her calls. Feeling defeated, she called Shannon. โMs. Lawrence, itโs me. Iโm not feeling well today and canโt come in. Iโd like to request a day off.โ
โAre you sick?โ Shannon asked. โOkay, you can rest. Iโll cover for you.โ
โThank you,โ said Sienna.
โJust get some rest,โ Shannon replied.
After hanging up, Sienna was at a loss. She needed to speak with Josiah, but he wasnโt answering. All she could do was wait; he would be back by tonight. As long as he was in Jelacrity, he would eventually return.
However, that night, after Romilly prepared dinner, the food grew cold, and he still hadn't returned.
