Chapter 307

Josiah stood, admitting his mistake with a nervous laugh. "Sienna, it's my fault for not listening to you."

Joyer echoed, "Mommy, I was wrong for not listening to you."

Josiah's Adam's apple bobbed as he gestured toward the cake. "See, I only gave her a couple of bites and didn't dare give her more."

Joyce confirmed, "Yes, that's right."

Seeing their unison, Sienna felt both amused and exasperated. She picked up Joyce. "Eat your meal nicely."

"Okay," Joyce replied.

Sienna eyed the cake, noting a missing corner. Worried Joyce might overeat, she cautioned, "Only eat if you can; don't force yourself."

"I can eat it!" Joyce insisted, holding up her spoon. "I definitely can!"

Sienna laughed, patting Joyce's head. "You're so awesome."

Joyce's appetite had improved lately. Whether this was due to her growth spurt, the change in doctors, or the adjusted treatment plan remained unclear.

Tired from afternoon play, Joyce dozed off in Sienna's arms on the way home. Sienna held her, gazing silently out the window.

Josiah kept glancing at Sienna. Hesitantly, he whispered, "Sienna, are you mad I showed up like this?"

Sienna thought, He has the nerve. She looked at him. "Josiah, you're a man of your word, right? You promised me, and you've already forgotten?"

Josiah frowned. His voice was deep and gentle. "I haven't forgotten. I just really wanted to see Joyce. Don't worry, if you don't agree, I won't acknowledge her. Just let Joyce treat me as her friend. Is that okay?"

"Does my agreement matter?" Sienna asked sarcastically. "You've already done it, and only now you're asking if it's okay?"

Josiah was speechless, his frown deepening.

The car stopped at their apartment building. Sienna, holding Joyce, struggled with the door. Josiah opened it for her, then retrieved a blanket from the car to wrap Joyce in, worried she'd get cold. He also offered to carry Joyce, concerned for Sienna's fatigue. "Let me hold her. I'll take you both to the door, then leave."

Sienna shook her head. "No need. I can manage; you can go back."

Josiah's eyes dimmed. He retracted his hand. "Alright." He waited briefly, then texted Sienna: [Have you arrived?]

Sienna replied quickly with a picture of Joyce asleep under her quilt.

Josiah smiled, his fingertips tracing Joyce's image. Another message arrived: [I hope you keep your word.]

Josiah understood the reference to not acknowledging Joyce. He smirked. Then I will not acknowledge her for now. Today, I took the first step.

On the way back to Silver Beach, Josiah called Zach. "Find out what Charles is up to."

"Okay, Mr. Flynn."

The Flynn Group, overseeing East Entertainment, was well-connected in entertainment news. Zach quickly obtained information. A historical intrigue drama; Maggie was in the cast. An attachment included the production schedule.

After showering, Josiah found a message: [Mr. Carter is currently busy with a historical intrigue drama. Maggie is also in the cast.]

Josiah smiled, confident in Zach's efficiency. He texted Zach: [Tell the East Entertainment manager to come to my office first thing tomorrow.]

Two days later, Sienna received a message about a script reading. It was her first glimpse into a large production. Charles was a renowned director; the leads, Liam and Alice, were established stars. Sienna, the sole unknown, hoped she wouldn't disappoint.

She sat in a corner when a girl tugged her arm. A smiling girl waved from the adjacent seat.

Sienna wondered, Do I know her?

The girl switched seats, introducing herself. "I'm Maggie, and we've met before."

"Hello," Sienna replied politely, though she couldn't recall. Maggie seemed vaguely familiar.

Seeing Sienna's confusion, Maggie explained, "Remember? At the Flynn Group, in the CEO's office? We even went to a banquet together."

Sienna remembered. "It's you, Maggie! Josiah's supposed new girlfriend, dumped at the banquet." Sienna had even taken a picture of Maggie and looked her up online.

Maggie smiled and nodded. "Yes, it's me." She extended her hand. "Let's introduce ourselves properly. I'm Maggie, an artist from East Entertainment. I don't even know your name yet."

Sienna introduced herself and shook Maggie's hand.

"Great!" Maggie produced her phone. "Let's add each other on WeChat."

"Okay," Sienna agreed. Since they were on the same crew, she didn't hesitate.

Maggie, outgoing and talkative, continued, "Are you also an artist with East Entertainment? No one told me you were coming; we could have carpooled!"

Sienna was about to explain she was a freelancer when the meeting room door opened. Charles, Derek (the head screenwriter), and the producer entered. The room fell silent as the script reading began.

Two hours passed. During the break, Sienna reviewed her lines. As a newcomer, she was meticulous.

Maggie peered over. "What are you writing? You're so diligent, Sienna!"

Suddenly, a chorus of voices called, "Mr. Flynn!" Everyone rose.

Still engrossed, Sienna was pulled upright by Maggie. "Sienna, it's Mr. Flynn! He's here to support us!"

Confused, Sienna looked up to see Josiah and Zach entering. Charles and the producer greeted him effusively. "Mr. Flynn, why are you here!"

Josiah raised an eyebrow. "What? Am I not welcome?"

Charles laughed. "Of course not! We're honored by your presence."

The producer echoed, "Exactly! Mr. Flynn, you're the biggest investor. Your presence is always welcome."

Stunned, Sienna asked Maggie, "Did East Entertainment invest in this drama?"

Maggie, equally surprised, replied, "I haven't heard of it. Maybe Mr. Flynn invested on the spot."

Maggie's excitement grew. She tugged Sienna's sleeve. "Do you think Mr. Flynn did this for us?"
