Chapter 32

Sienna fetched some water, rolled up her sleeves, and patiently, slowly, washed and changed Mirandaโ€™s clothes. Yosef and Josiah sat facing each other.

Yosef gestured towards the room and said, โ€œSheโ€™s not the same as before.โ€

Josiah felt inexplicably annoyed. โ€œNot the same? How can you tell after seeing her just a few times?โ€

Yosef narrowed his eyes. โ€œSome things donโ€™t require many meetings to understand. Her whole demeanor, her gaze, everything is different.โ€ His tone sounded quite appreciative of her.

Josiah became even more annoyed, curling his lips in retort. โ€œThe leopard canโ€™t change its spots; itโ€™s all an act!โ€

โ€œAct?โ€ Yosef raised an eyebrow, distorting it slightly.

โ€œDoes she need to act in front of you? In front of me? I know you donโ€™t like her, but didnโ€™t you two already sign the divorce papers?โ€ Yosef seemed to see through Josiah.

Then, Yosef pointed inside again. โ€œFor her sake, and Mirandaโ€™s, donโ€™t be so harsh. Just treat her like a sister.โ€

Josiah snorted. โ€œSo many words? You came to see Miranda, and you didnโ€™t help at all. Eat up and leave!โ€

Yosef retorted, โ€œNo way. I agreed; my breakfast here is for Siennaโ€ฆโ€

Josiah laughed and scolded, โ€œAlright, isnโ€™t she your sister? Is it your place to care? Get out of here!โ€

Yosef didnโ€™t argue further and quickly finished his breakfast. โ€œAlright, Iโ€™ll leave then.โ€

Josiah nodded. โ€œIโ€™ll be there a bit later.โ€ They currently had a collaborative project, originally planning for Yosef to visit Miranda and leave together. But something came up, and Josiah had to wait.

After Yosef left, Sienna also came out; she had cleaned Miranda and changed her into clean clothes. In her arms were the dirty laundry.

The nurse hurried over. โ€œIโ€™ll wash these?โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ Sienna nodded and let go.

Josiah glanced at her, his tone unconsciously softening. โ€œGo wash your hands.โ€

Sienna did as told; she needed to wash up. When she came out, Josiah lifted his chin and pointed to the chair opposite. โ€œSit.โ€

Sienna was puzzled. โ€œIs there something? If not, I have to go. I need to hurry back for rehearsal.โ€

โ€œJust sit,โ€ Josiah frowned, not known for his patience. โ€œIs there a nail on the chair? Canโ€™t you sit?โ€

Sienna was speechless and sat down. Josiah was satisfied, curling his lips, and pointed to the breakfast on the table that belonged to him. โ€œEat.โ€

Sienna was taken aback, thinking she had heard wrong. He was offering her food? But just now, he clearly saidโ€ฆ No. Noticing her expression, Josiah roughly guessed what she was thinking. With a stiff face, he reluctantly spoke, โ€œAbout what happened earlier, it was my fault. Iโ€™m sorry.โ€

Sienna was astonished, thinking, โ€œHe actually apologized! Thatโ€™s rare. As far as I remember, this is the first time Josiah has apologized to me.โ€ However, she was very clear that his apology was because of Miranda.

Sienna calmly said, โ€œYou donโ€™t need to apologize to me. I know you dislike me. Itโ€™s normal to be unhappy seeing someone you dislike.โ€

โ€œBut I came for Miranda. Iโ€™ll try not to appear in front of you from now on. You have nothing to be sorry for, and I wonโ€™t have breakfast.โ€ She curved her lips, pointing at the dining table.

โ€œI apologized, and she still refused me?โ€ Josiah thought. His face darkened instantly, and he coolly said, โ€œWhat? You take what Yosef gives, but not what I give!โ€

As he spoke, he remembered her smiling at Yosef, and his anger flared. He narrowed his eyes, speaking with full malice. โ€œYou were quite happy smiling at Yosef just now, werenโ€™t you? What, interested in him?โ€

Sienna was astonished, not knowing what he was talking about. However, Josiah wasnโ€™t done. His eyes were full of anger. โ€œYosef is someone you can even think about! Youโ€™re notorious in Jeiacrity. Just because you divorced me, you wonโ€™t get any of the Jeiacrity elite.โ€

Sienna listened quietly, from initial shock to her face gradually losing color. Finally, Josiah added, โ€œYouโ€™re dreaming!โ€

Instantly, Sienna stiffened, trembling uncontrollably. How could there be such a vile person in this world? How could she have ever loved such a vile person? she thought.

She looked at him, smiling contemptuously. โ€œYes, Iโ€™m dreaming. But what about you? Is my thinking about your sister-in-law more despicable than your thoughts? Does anyone in Jeiacrity not know about your sordid mind?โ€

As her words fell, a deathly silence spread. Josiah clenched his fists, his eyes dark and cold, enveloping her. โ€œSienna!โ€

Before he could explode, Sienna turned and ran, not forgetting to grab her backpack from the sofa and rush out the door. Josiahโ€™s handsome face was gloomy enough to drip water, his thin lips pressed into a straight line. I shouldnโ€™t have bothered with you, he thought.

Full of anger with nowhere to vent, he suddenly kicked, overturning two chairs. However, his anger did not dissipate. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong with me? Why am I so furious because of Sienna?โ€ he thought.

In the evening, Sienna went to Maze after a call from Willison. After the performance, she returned to her dressing room to take off her makeup. Then, she received a phone call.

โ€œHello, Mr. Thompson.โ€

โ€œSienna, how are you? Iโ€™d like to discuss Joyceโ€™s condition with you.โ€ Williamโ€™s tone was somewhat somber.

โ€œOkay.โ€ Unconsciously, Sienna sat up straight, her heart pounding in her throat.

โ€œA couple of days ago was the treatment day. Joyce had some vomiting and diarrhea, but sheโ€™s been feeling better these past two days,โ€ William said.

Hearing this, Siennaโ€™s eyes dimmed, and she felt an overwhelming sense of heartache. Joyce must have been so lonely without her.

โ€œDuring the process, your friend was with her,โ€ William was referring to Hannah. William continued, โ€œJoyce is in decent condition. I understand youโ€™re from Jeiserity. Since youโ€™ve gone back, have you considered having a younger sibling for Joyce?โ€

Sienna understood what he was implying. She would have done anything if there was the slightest hope.

โ€œThereโ€™s no way, Mr. Thompson. Itโ€™s impossible.โ€ Sienna shook her head.

William sighed. โ€œI overstepped.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t say that. You mean well,โ€ Sienna said.

After hanging up the phone, Sienna stared at her mobile phone, gazing at Joyceโ€™s picture, her eyes slightly moist. โ€œJoyce, my darling. Iโ€™m working hard to earn money, and Iโ€™ll bring you back as soon as possible,โ€ she choked out in a whisper.
