Chapter 330
โAndy,โ Josiah murmured softly.
โYeah,โ Howard nodded. During the days Josiah was unconscious, Howard certainly wasn't idle. The person who tampered with Josiah's car wasโฆ However, before Howard could act against Lorenzo, Andy had already sent him abroad.
โWhatโs Andyโs plan? What does he intend to do?โ Josiah furrowed his brow, puzzled.
โIโm not sure,โ Howard shook his head, mirroring Josiahโs confusion. After a brief silence, he sighed. โThe Evans family now only has Logan left. Andyโs son, alive and well in Jacarity, is the only one remaining.โ
Howard walked out just as Sienna finished a call. He nodded calmly. โSienna, thank you for your hard work these days.โ
Sienna smiled, neither effusive nor dismissive. From inside, Josiahโs voice called, โSiennaโฆโ
Howard frowned. โPlease take care of Josiah for me. Iโve got to go.โ
โTake care, Howard.โ After seeing him off, Sienna slowly opened the door to the inner room. Josiah looked at her with a slight grievance. โSienna, didnโt you hear me calling? I thought youโd left.โ
Sienna replied, โWhy were you calling me?โ
โIโm thirsty. I need some water,โ Josiah said.
โAlright,โ Sienna nodded pleasantly and fetched him some water. โJust a sec.โ She returned, handing him the glass. โHere you go.โ
โMy hands feel weak,โ Josiah pouted, unable to lift his hand.
Sienna paused, studying him. โAre you pretending? You seemed pretty strong when you were chasing me.โ
โWasnโt I just agitated?โ Josiah argued defensively. โDidnโt the doctor say Iโm still weak and need rest?โ He pointed to his head. โI did have brain surgery!โ
Feeling wronged, he complained, โWasnโt it a minor surgery?โ His short hair, shaved off because of the surgery, didnโt diminish his good looks. Noticing the bandage, Sienna relented, holding the cup to his lips. โHave a drink.โ
Josiah was satisfied and took a couple of sips. โThe water tastes sweeter when you give it to me.โ Sienna quickly pressed the cup to his lips. โDrink up.โ Josiah nearly choked, blinking innocently.
That afternoon, Josiah had a follow-up check for his brain CT and MRI, but the results wouldn't be available for a couple of days. The night passed without incident. The next morning, Josiah attended his early treatment.
Sienna discussed with Josiah. โYou seem pretty stable. I was thinking of going out this afternoon and returning tomorrow.โ
Josiahโs eyes darkened. โYouโre leaving? Iโm not better yet.โ
Siennaโs eyelashes fluttered. โI havenโt been back to Sunshine Neighborhood for days, Joyce misses me. Besides, todayโs my follow-up at the medical center.โ
โOkay, right,โ Josiah conceded. โThen wait for me to finish my treatment, Iโll go with you.โ
Sienna frowned. โNo need. Youโre too weak; you should just rest.โ
He started to protest, but Sienna glared at him. โIโm not doing this for you; itโs for Joyceโbeing a parent means putting Joyce first.โ Josiah was speechless.
By afternoon, Sienna packed her things, glanced at Josiah, and said calmly, โIโm leaving.โ
Josiah nodded with a smile. โOkay, Zach has arranged the car. You can wait downstairs.โ
โI got it.โ
As soon as Sienna left, Josiah promptly got out of bed. Downstairs, she found the car Zach had described. She asked, โExcuse me, did Zach send you?โ
โYes, please get in,โ the driver replied. He wore a black hoodie, baseball cap, and mask, his voice muffled.
Sienna got in. As the car drove away, she looked into the driverโs eyes through the rearview mirror, feeling a sudden chill. Unsure, she asked, โJosiahโฆ?โ Those eyes widened in the mirror.
โYou recognized me?โ Josiah asked, removing his disguise and grinning. โCanโt hide my good looks, can I?โ
Siennaโs face darkened. โDo you think Iโm joking with you?โ
Seeing her displeasure, Josiah admitted, โDonโt get mad. Iโm genuinely fine now. The doctor said Iโm weaker than before, but Iโm doing better than most.โ
Sienna turned away, refusing to speak. Why bother? she thought. They went to a traditional healer for Siennaโs medicine, then returned to Sunshine Neighborhood, Sienna ignoring Josiah completely.
Josiah felt scared. Near Sunshine Neighborhood, he pulled over. โSienna, hold on a second.โ
She watched him run to the roadside, returning with candied fruit. Back in the car, he handed some to Sienna. โI wanted to get you hawthorn candies, but they were sold out. I thought youโd like these too.โ
Sienna laughed. Whatโs this about? Is he treating me like a child?
โCome on, eat up. I bought two, one for you, and one for Joyce,โ Josiah said.
Sienna hesitated. Josiah added, โIf you donโt eat it, Joyce will want both, and sheโs too young to eat that much.โ
Sienna accepted, biting into it forcefully. Josiah chuckled and drove back. Once parked, he said, โIโll walk you to the door.โ
Sienna declined. Josiah interrupted, eyes fixed on her lips. โSienna, youโve got some sugar there.โ
She raised her hand to touch her face. Josiah lifted his hand toward her cheek, then changed his mind, supporting her chin and leaning down, gently kissing the sugar from the corner of her mouth.
Josiah murmured, โSo sweet. I mean the candy and you.โ
Nearby, a young voice chirped, โMommy? Mr. Flynn? Are you kissing?โ
