Chapter 330

โ€œAndy,โ€ Josiah murmured softly.

โ€œYeah,โ€ Howard nodded. During the days Josiah was unconscious, Howard certainly wasn't idle. The person who tampered with Josiah's car wasโ€ฆ However, before Howard could act against Lorenzo, Andy had already sent him abroad.

โ€œWhatโ€™s Andyโ€™s plan? What does he intend to do?โ€ Josiah furrowed his brow, puzzled.

โ€œIโ€™m not sure,โ€ Howard shook his head, mirroring Josiahโ€™s confusion. After a brief silence, he sighed. โ€œThe Evans family now only has Logan left. Andyโ€™s son, alive and well in Jacarity, is the only one remaining.โ€

Howard walked out just as Sienna finished a call. He nodded calmly. โ€œSienna, thank you for your hard work these days.โ€

Sienna smiled, neither effusive nor dismissive. From inside, Josiahโ€™s voice called, โ€œSiennaโ€ฆโ€

Howard frowned. โ€œPlease take care of Josiah for me. Iโ€™ve got to go.โ€

โ€œTake care, Howard.โ€ After seeing him off, Sienna slowly opened the door to the inner room. Josiah looked at her with a slight grievance. โ€œSienna, didnโ€™t you hear me calling? I thought youโ€™d left.โ€

Sienna replied, โ€œWhy were you calling me?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m thirsty. I need some water,โ€ Josiah said.

โ€œAlright,โ€ Sienna nodded pleasantly and fetched him some water. โ€œJust a sec.โ€ She returned, handing him the glass. โ€œHere you go.โ€

โ€œMy hands feel weak,โ€ Josiah pouted, unable to lift his hand.

Sienna paused, studying him. โ€œAre you pretending? You seemed pretty strong when you were chasing me.โ€

โ€œWasnโ€™t I just agitated?โ€ Josiah argued defensively. โ€œDidnโ€™t the doctor say Iโ€™m still weak and need rest?โ€ He pointed to his head. โ€œI did have brain surgery!โ€

Feeling wronged, he complained, โ€œWasnโ€™t it a minor surgery?โ€ His short hair, shaved off because of the surgery, didnโ€™t diminish his good looks. Noticing the bandage, Sienna relented, holding the cup to his lips. โ€œHave a drink.โ€

Josiah was satisfied and took a couple of sips. โ€œThe water tastes sweeter when you give it to me.โ€ Sienna quickly pressed the cup to his lips. โ€œDrink up.โ€ Josiah nearly choked, blinking innocently.

That afternoon, Josiah had a follow-up check for his brain CT and MRI, but the results wouldn't be available for a couple of days. The night passed without incident. The next morning, Josiah attended his early treatment.

Sienna discussed with Josiah. โ€œYou seem pretty stable. I was thinking of going out this afternoon and returning tomorrow.โ€

Josiahโ€™s eyes darkened. โ€œYouโ€™re leaving? Iโ€™m not better yet.โ€

Siennaโ€™s eyelashes fluttered. โ€œI havenโ€™t been back to Sunshine Neighborhood for days, Joyce misses me. Besides, todayโ€™s my follow-up at the medical center.โ€

โ€œOkay, right,โ€ Josiah conceded. โ€œThen wait for me to finish my treatment, Iโ€™ll go with you.โ€

Sienna frowned. โ€œNo need. Youโ€™re too weak; you should just rest.โ€

He started to protest, but Sienna glared at him. โ€œIโ€™m not doing this for you; itโ€™s for Joyceโ€”being a parent means putting Joyce first.โ€ Josiah was speechless.

By afternoon, Sienna packed her things, glanced at Josiah, and said calmly, โ€œIโ€™m leaving.โ€

Josiah nodded with a smile. โ€œOkay, Zach has arranged the car. You can wait downstairs.โ€

โ€œI got it.โ€

As soon as Sienna left, Josiah promptly got out of bed. Downstairs, she found the car Zach had described. She asked, โ€œExcuse me, did Zach send you?โ€

โ€œYes, please get in,โ€ the driver replied. He wore a black hoodie, baseball cap, and mask, his voice muffled.

Sienna got in. As the car drove away, she looked into the driverโ€™s eyes through the rearview mirror, feeling a sudden chill. Unsure, she asked, โ€œJosiahโ€ฆ?โ€ Those eyes widened in the mirror.

โ€œYou recognized me?โ€ Josiah asked, removing his disguise and grinning. โ€œCanโ€™t hide my good looks, can I?โ€

Siennaโ€™s face darkened. โ€œDo you think Iโ€™m joking with you?โ€

Seeing her displeasure, Josiah admitted, โ€œDonโ€™t get mad. Iโ€™m genuinely fine now. The doctor said Iโ€™m weaker than before, but Iโ€™m doing better than most.โ€

Sienna turned away, refusing to speak. Why bother? she thought. They went to a traditional healer for Siennaโ€™s medicine, then returned to Sunshine Neighborhood, Sienna ignoring Josiah completely.

Josiah felt scared. Near Sunshine Neighborhood, he pulled over. โ€œSienna, hold on a second.โ€

She watched him run to the roadside, returning with candied fruit. Back in the car, he handed some to Sienna. โ€œI wanted to get you hawthorn candies, but they were sold out. I thought youโ€™d like these too.โ€

Sienna laughed. Whatโ€™s this about? Is he treating me like a child?

โ€œCome on, eat up. I bought two, one for you, and one for Joyce,โ€ Josiah said.

Sienna hesitated. Josiah added, โ€œIf you donโ€™t eat it, Joyce will want both, and sheโ€™s too young to eat that much.โ€

Sienna accepted, biting into it forcefully. Josiah chuckled and drove back. Once parked, he said, โ€œIโ€™ll walk you to the door.โ€

Sienna declined. Josiah interrupted, eyes fixed on her lips. โ€œSienna, youโ€™ve got some sugar there.โ€

She raised her hand to touch her face. Josiah lifted his hand toward her cheek, then changed his mind, supporting her chin and leaning down, gently kissing the sugar from the corner of her mouth.

Josiah murmured, โ€œSo sweet. I mean the candy and you.โ€

Nearby, a young voice chirped, โ€œMommy? Mr. Flynn? Are you kissing?โ€
