Chapter 331

It was Joyce. Sienna broke into a cold sweat, abruptly pushing Josiah away and glaring at him. Josiah chuckled awkwardly. He hadn't meant to. They both turned to look at Joyce.

"Yikes!" Joyce raised her hand to her eyes, beaming. "Joyce is still a kid; kids can't watch grown-ups kiss!" She peeked through her fingers.

Tara, fighting back a laugh, reached for Joyce's hand. "Joyce, don't be naughty. Mom and Josiah might get embarrassed."

Sienna bit her lip, her face paling as she frowned at Josiah. "Aren't you leaving?"

"Um, yeah, I'm going," Josiah quickly nodded, fearing her anger.

Just as he started to leave, Joyce stretched out her arms. "Josiah, hug!"

Josiah hesitated. Could I hug her? he wondered.

Joyce pouted. "I want a hug!"

"Okay," Josiah finally conceded, unable to refuse his daughter. He scooped her up.

He looked at Sienna with a complacent smile. "I'm just dropping you guys off before I go."

Sienna glanced at them; how could she refuse? Joyce clung to him tightly.

"Josiah, Mommy said yes!" Joyce happily nestled against his shoulder, whispering. It was a whisper, but others could still hear her clearly. "Are Josiah and Mommy going to get married?"

Josiah raised an eyebrow. "Does Joyce know what 'married' means?"

"Yep," she nodded seriously. "Getting married means Josiah will be my daddy! Only daddies and mommies can kiss, right?"

Her innocent understanding was simple and pure. Josiah struggled to find the right words, glancing at Sienna. Mimicking Joyce's soft voice, he asked, "So, Joyce, do you want Mommy and me to get married?"

"Uh-huh!" Joyce nodded vigorously, wrapping her arms around his neck and leaning in. "I like you and want you to be my daddy."

Upon hearing those words, Josiah stiffened slightly, a mix of bitterness and sweetness welling in his heart. Joyce, I am your dad, he thought. He swallowed hard, hugging her tightly. "Josiah really likes Joyce and wants to be your dad," he whispered softly.

"Yeah, Josiah kissed Mom," Joyce replied innocently.

Nearby, Tara stifled a giggle, glancing at Sienna. Sienna's brows furrowed. The conversation felt like a heavy stone hitting her heart, stirring up emotions like wild waves.

Two days later, Josiah's medical results came back.

"From the scans, Josiah seems to be doing much better," the doctor explained. "A few more days of treatment, and we can stop the IV. After that, Josiah can choose to stay in the hospital or recover at home. Just remember not to overdo it. Wait a month before thinking about work, and make sure to have monthly check-ups for the next six months to avoid complications."

At last, the heavy burden on the Flynn family was lifted.

Josiah gave Howard a proud smile. "The doctor says I need to rest, so I'm leaving the company in your hands, Howard. You better take care of your little brotherโ€”I can't afford to wear myself out."

"Heh," Howard scoffed, rolling his eyes.

Howard could tell Josiah was relishing this small revenge. After all, Howard had endlessly complained about Josiah bothering him with company issues.

Miranda threw her hands up, amused. "Seriously? How old are you two? Still acting like kids."

Miranda felt satisfied. Unlike other families, her grandsons had always supported each other.

Josiah completed his discharge paperwork. Zach handled the details while Sienna and the nurse packed his things. Zaid waited downstairs. Because of his injury, the Flynn family hadn't celebrated Christmas Day properly. They would have to make up for it.

When Zach returned, Sienna helped Josiah put on his jacket.

"Sienna," Josiah looked down at her, knowing they wouldn't be together the next day. "I'll come over early the day after tomorrow to have breakfast with you and Joyce. I'll bring her a bunny plush toy," he said. He wanted to bring them both to the Flynn residence, but Sienna wouldn't agree, so he decided to wait.

As Sienna fastened the last button, she thought about Joyce's excited expression and nodded. "Okay, I'll tell her."

The nursing home buzzed with energy the next day. The nurse linked arms with Rosie, guiding her through the courtyard. "Ms. Miller, the courtyard is all decoratedโ€”just imagine how beautiful it will look tonight!" Remembering Rosie couldn't see, she quickly apologized.

"It's okay," Rosie chuckled. "I'm not that fragile. You don't need to be so careful, Amy."

"Yes. Let's keep walking. More people have moved in recently, so it's even livelier around here!"

Rosie noticed the increased conversation.

"Hi there! Can you tell me where this place leads?" a familiar voice cut through the air.

Rosie recognized it instantly. Daniel! What is he doing here? Has he come to harm me? she thought. Her face turned pale, and she trembled uncontrollably. Run! she thought.

Releasing Amy's arm, she dashed away.

"Ms. Miller!" The caregiver froze. "Where are you going?"

Rosie was oblivious, sprinting away.

"Ms. Miller!" The caregiver, panicking, chased after her. She stumbled and fell.

"Ahโ€ฆ" the caregiver yelled, wincing in pain. Pushing herself up, she looked around, but Rosie had vanished. Anxiety washed over her.

"Ms. Miller!" Her voice trembled as she gasped for breath. She grabbed her phone and dialed urgently. "Quick! Ms. Miller has gone out of control. Notify the director! We have to find herโ€”she can't get hurt!"

"Yes," came the swift reply. This was the Flynn family's nursing home, and the staff had been briefed. Everyone knew Ms. Miller was Howard's precious one. In no time, the entire nursing home was in a flurry of activity.

"Ms. Miller!"

Meanwhile, Daniel, visiting a friend, heard the cries. Rosieโ€ฆ Could it be her? he thought. No, it couldn't be. I must be overthinking.

He grabbed a nearby nurse. "Excuse me, who are you looking for?"

The nurse, preoccupied, responded absentmindedly. "Rosie."

Daniel froze. Could it really be her? There she is! I have been searching for her for so long and never expected to find her here!
