Chapter 38

โ€œGet out of the way!โ€ Josiah was about to push past Henry when he noticed the girl had turned to look at him. She lifted her hand and touched her mask.

Josiah froze. Was she about to take it off?

But she didnโ€™t. Instead, she gave a playful laughโ€” โ€œHahaโ€ฆโ€โ€”and darted away.

Josiah stood there, amused and exasperated. Was she teasing him? He had to admit, she was good at it! A simple gesture had ignited his curiosity, easing his anxiety.

Interesting. Maybe he should wait a bit longer. He was keen to discover what kind of face was hidden behind that maskโ€”whether it was worth his time and money.

โ€œMr. Flynn!โ€ Seeing Josiahโ€™s dazed expression, Henry raised his hand and waved it before him. โ€œAre you okay? Did you have too much to drink? Do you need my help?โ€

โ€œEnough,โ€ Josiah snapped back to reality, patting Henry on the shoulder. โ€œStop with the formalities. Iโ€™m giving her a chance. Since she doesnโ€™t want to, Iโ€™ll just wait a bit longer.โ€

โ€œGot it!โ€ Henry chimed in, his tone overly flattering. โ€œYou really are understanding.โ€

Once Josiah left, Henry immediately sought out Sienna. โ€œSienna, you saw that guy, right? Thatโ€™s your sponsor!โ€

Henry chattered on, โ€œI told you, heโ€™s not just anyone. Heโ€™s rich and handsome! With him backing you up, whatโ€™s there to worry about?โ€

There were things he couldnโ€™t say just yet. The final reward for the Dance Queen Competition was a toast, but what came after that?

Many girls in Jelacrity found powerful figures, but Sienna didnโ€™t have such a plan yet. She smiled while internally sighing, realizing Henry was likely to be disappointed.

During the day, Sienna arrived at the sanatorium. Miranda still couldnโ€™t bathe, so Sienna came daily to help her wash and change her clothes. Although the caregivers could manage, Miranda felt much more comfortable and relaxed with Siennaโ€™s help.

โ€œThanks for your hard work, Sienna,โ€ Miranda said, putting on a fresh outfit, looking bright and refreshed. She patted Siennaโ€™s hand. โ€œLook at you, your face looks so tired and thin.โ€

โ€œNo, itโ€™s not that,โ€ Sienna shook her head with a smile. โ€œIโ€™ve always been this skinny.โ€

As they spoke, she picked up the dirty clothes to take them to the caregivers. โ€œIโ€™ll give these to the staff.โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ Miranda replied.

Just as Sienna stepped outside, her phone rang on the bedside table. Miranda glanced at it, noticing the name flashing: Mr. Hardin.

โ€œMr. Hardin? Could it be Gilbert Hardin? Heโ€™s that famous attorney in Jelacrity and also the legal consultant for the Flynn Group. How does Sienna know him? Gilbert doesnโ€™t take on just any case. Is Sienna in some kind of trouble? Why doesnโ€™t she tell me anything?โ€ Miranda thought, puzzled.

At the same time, Miranda couldnโ€™t understand why Sienna, who had no family and relied on the Flynn family, would have serious problems. With so many questions swirling, Miranda made a quick decision, picked up the phone, and answered.

โ€œHello, Sienna. I wanted to ask when you would have some time. The divorce agreement has been sitting with me for a while now. The asset transfers and future support arrangements all need your signature to proceed,โ€ Gilbert said.

Miranda listened quietly, her expression darkening.

โ€œHello, Sienna, are you there?โ€ Gilbert asked.

Without a word, Miranda decisively hung up the phone. Then, she picked up her own phone and dialed Josiahโ€™s number.
