Chapter 62

“Get out!” Josiah’s demeanor shifted instantly as he shouted with disgust. “If you don’t leave, I can’t promise I won’t resort to force against a woman!”

The girl swallowed hard. “You’re tough! Just wait and see!” She didn’t dare fight him, scrambling up and running away, looking quite disheveled.

Josiah looked down at Sienna in his arms, her complexion still pale. “How are you feeling?”

Sienna opened her mouth but couldn’t make a sound. Her throat felt as if it were being cut and burned. Tears welled up in her eyes.

Josiah’s face darkened, veins popping on his forehead. He gently scooped her up, whispering, “Don’t worry, we’re going to the hospital. You’ll be…”

Leaning against him, Sienna felt disoriented. She thought she must be confused, or out of her mind. She saw worry and concern on Josiah’s face. She must be mistaken.

When they arrived at the hospital, Sienna underwent a detailed examination.

“How did this happen?” the doctor asked, frowning at the scans. “The vocal cords and cartilage are injured.” He gave Josiah a suspicious look, wondering if domestic violence was involved. Josiah was annoyed. “Just tell me if it’s serious.”

“It’s not too bad,” the doctor said. “I’ll prescribe some medication. You’ll need both oral and topical treatments. Also, be careful with your diet. Speaking is not possible for now, so take it slow and let it heal.”

Josiah’s eyes narrowed, anger boiling inside. That girl from the Ryan family had really gone too far.

“Here’s the prescription. Go get the medication.”

“Okay,” Josiah took the prescription, glanced at Sienna, and said, “Go get the medicine. Sit here and wait for me.” Just as he was about to turn, he remembered that she had disappeared last time he went to pay.

So he reminded her, “Don’t even think about sneaking off, got it?”

Sienna nodded, assuring him she would stay.

Only then did Josiah turn and go to the payment counter. After a while, he returned with the medicine.

The doctor took out the topical medicine and applied it to Sienna. “Just like this. Change it every two days.”

“Okay, understood,” Josiah glanced at Sienna and nodded. “Alright, we can go now.”

Sienna propped herself up and tried to get up. But as soon as she strained herself, a wave of suffocating pain washed over her chest. She hadn’t recovered.

Josiah glanced back, his eyebrows tightly knitted, and snapped irritably, “Why are you so bothersome! Seriously, is there anything you can do besides causing me trouble?”
