Chapter 78
Back at the intersection at Lyceum Street, Sienna saw a familiar black Bentley. It was hard to ignore such a luxurious car, especially with Zaid leaning against the door, as if waiting for her.
Zaid waved and exclaimed, โMs. Shaw!โ
Sienna, puzzled, walked over. โZaid, whatโs wrong? Is Miranda looking for me?โ
โNo,โ Zaid said, pointing to the car with a complicated expression.
Just then, the car window rolled down, revealing Josiahโs handsome face. His eyes narrowed as he spoke in a cold tone, โGet in.โ
Feeling frightened, Sienna clung to Zaid. โZaid, heโs calling you.โ
Zaid smiled wryly. โMs. Shaw, please donโt joke. After all, thereโs no need for Josiah to wait for an old man in the middle of the night.โ Sienna frowned and reluctantly opened the back door, bending to get in. She sat upright, placing her hands on her knees, barely daring to breathe.
โWhere have you been? Why are you just coming back now?โ Josiah lifted his watch, feigning a glance at it. โThe show ended at eleven, and itโs past midnight now.โ
She thought he knew everything. Sienna turned to him. โDonโt you already know?โ
โI want you to tell me.โ Suddenly, Josiah called out, his long fingers reaching up to grasp her chin. He leaned closer, his face inches from hers. In a low voice, he asked, โWhere have you been? Who were you with? What did you do?โ
Sienna froze, unable to move. Josiahโs striking appearance was accentuated by the soft light outlining his silhouette; a man who could charm anyone without uttering a word. She had, of course, been one of those captivated.
Sienna took a deep breath. โI ate pizza with Cedric.โ
โPizza!โ Josiah raised an eyebrow, his expression unreadable as his fingers rubbed her chin. โWhat topping? How did it taste?โ
Sienna thought, What kind of question is that? Surprised, she nodded blankly. โCheese pizza. Not bad.โ
As she finished speaking, a heavy silence fell over the car. The tension lingered for about ten seconds, making Sienna uncomfortable. She tried to push him away. โIf thereโs nothing else, Iโll just leave.โ
Suddenly, her shoulder was grabbed firmly as Josiah pushed her back into the seat. Sienna screamed in pain.
A coldness gleamed in Josiahโs eyes, a smirk playing on his thin lips. โSienna, the divorce application is void. Come back to me.โ
Sienna was shocked and terrified. She had never experienced such pain. Her body trembled uncontrollably, and she clenched her hands, trying to lessen the fear.
โWhat did you say?โ Sienna thought sheโd misheard.
โDidnโt you hear me clearly? Fine, Iโll say it again.โ Josiah looked at her with a half-smile. โArenโt you just looking for a man? Someone who can take care of you. So why donโt you come back to me?โ
Josiah shifted from holding her chin to gently touching her face. โItโs late. Tomorrow, weโll tell Miranda about this.โ
His voice softened as he continued, โMiranda has always wanted us to be together. Sheโll be happy to know thatโโ
โJosiah,โ Sienna interrupted, growing more frightened. Her face was pale in the dim light. โStop it. Just stop it.โ
Heโs so strange, Sienna thought. He kissed me out of nowhere and wants me back. I donโt know why he did this. Whether heโs crazy or has some evil plan, we are done.
Sienna curved her lips into a smile. โI disagree. I wonโt come back to you.โ Actually, thatโs not quite right. After all, Iโve never really been by his side.
โWhat did you say?โ Josiah paused, a smile playing on his lips. โSay it again.โ
She knew heโd heard her. Sienna clenched her fists. โStop messing around. Look, Iโm Sienna. You hate me, left me abroad, and abandoned me.โ
โCome back to me. I need you.โ
โIโve changed my mind.โ Josiah looked down at her, his gaze intense.
Sienna was at a loss, staring at the man so close to her, his overwhelming presence making her afraid and shiver.
What was he saying? Sienna thought angrily. Did he know heโs an asshole? Iโm not someone he can want one moment and discard the next.
However, Sienna didnโt bother arguing. The words they hadnโt said four years ago didnโt need to be said now.
โNo,โ she shook her head stiffly. โI donโt want to.โ
No? Why not? Josiah thought. Iโve tried my best to be nice to her.
After being rejected again, Josiahโs patience was wearing thin. He narrowed his eyes, his gaze turning frosty. โWhen Iโm being nice, youโd better appreciate it and not act too high-handed.โ
Sienna sneered; even when asking for something, he still acted superior. She felt unfairly treated. Iโm notโฆ Sienna felt her blood freezing as she shook her head firmly. I donโt really understand you. You love Yvette, so you should say this to her, not me.
As soon as she finished speaking, Josiahโs already icy face darkened further. Everyone in Jelacrity knew Yvette was Josiahโs unrequited love, his lifeโs regret. Nobody would mention it to him. Besides, Yvette was Howardโs wife. Unfortunately, Sienna had struck a nerve.
Seeing Josiahโs upset, Sienna pressed on. โIf you like her so much, why donโt you go after her? Howard couldnโt wake up anyway. As long as you love each otherโฆโ
Josiah said coldly, โSienna, donโt think that just because I spoil you now, you can say whatever you want.โ
Spoil me? That was the funniest joke! Sienna thought.
Sienna closed her eyes, feeling as if invisible daggers were stabbing her heart. I genuinely hope your years of waiting will pay off, and you will win the beautyโs heart.
โSienna.โ Finally, her words enraged Josiah. His fingers left her face, clenching into a fist. He was so angry he wanted to punch something.
