Chapter 84
โMiranda,โ Siennaโs face showed no happiness. Shaking her head, she said, โIโฆ donโt like him anymore.โ
Miranda was taken aback. It wasnโt the first time sheโd heard this; Sienna had mentioned it when requesting a divorce at the rehab center. However, Miranda sensed underlying concerns. โSienna, are you worried?โ
Miranda asked, โAre you worried heโll ignore you like before? He wonโt. This time is different; itโs his decision, not Grandmaโs. Heโs determined; once he decides something, nothing changes his mind.โ
Sienna believed those words. When Howard had his accident, Josiah had sworn at Howardโs bedside that Yvette would be his responsibility. He did just that, yet Sienna still couldn't agree.
โMiranda, this isnโt what Iโm worried about,โ Sienna shook her head.
โThen what are you worried about?โ Miranda asked.
โMiranda,โ Sienna curled her lips bitterly. Sheโd already said this, but she had no choice but to repeat it. โI really donโt like him anymore.โ
Miranda was stunned, momentarily speechless. If it were just once or twice, one might assume Sienna was being vain, afraid of rejection, and saying things she didn't mean. But nowโฆ
Josiah had already shown he wanted to cancel the divorce. If she still had feelings, she should just go through with it and play the role of Mrs. Flynn, shouldnโt she? Miranda thought.
Unbelieving, Miranda asked, โSienna, are you sure?โ
โYes, I am,โ Sienna nodded.
โHow could it be?โ Miranda was puzzled. โYouโve liked him since you were fifteen.โ Everyone in the Flynn family knew of Siennaโs long-held affection for Josiah.
โYeah,โ Sienna chuckled, shaking her head gently. โBut, Miranda, no matter how much I liked him, it all faded away during those four years.โ
Hearing this, Miranda gasped. But Sienna laughed. โLooking back, maybe I didnโt really like him. I was too young and naive. You always mentioned wanting me as your granddaughter-in-law, so I naturally thought I liked him.โ
โSiennaโฆโ Miranda paled, realizing Sienna was denying all her past feelings.
โSo, Miranda,โ Sienna took a deep breath, pressing her lips together. โDivorce is the only path for us, and itโs the right one.โ
With the conversation reaching this point, further discussion seemed pointless. Miranda conceded, โI understand what youโre saying.โ She gently smoothed Siennaโs hair. โDonโt worry. Even though Grandma spoke in his favor, thatโs all there is to it.โ
Sienna was surprised. โMiranda?โ
โWhy are you looking at me like that?โ Miranda smiled softly and pinched her cheek. โAs your grandma, I hope your future life will go well and smoothly. I mean it.โ
Siennaโs nose tingled with emotion. โThank you, Miranda.โ
โSilly child, whatโs there to thank?โ Miranda released her. โGo check the kitchen to see if breakfast is ready.โ
โOkay, sure,โ Sienna stood and headed to the kitchen.
As Sienna left, Mirandaโs face grew serious. โYou can come out now.โ
The balcony curtain was quickly pulled aside as Josiah stepped out. He had been awake for a while. Miranda and Josiah had agreed that Miranda would mediate, but she was only willing to help him this once. She feared things might get complicated later, so she decided to let him hear it for himself; good or bad, he would have to accept it.
Miranda looked at her grandson. โDid you hear everything?โ
โYeah,โ Josiahโs handsome face remained expressionless.
Miranda sighed deeply. โItโs good youโve heard it. Just let it go, alright?โ
โMiranda,โ Josiahโs hand clenched; his brows furrowed. โI canโt let it go.โ
โWhat?โ Miranda was stunned, glaring at her grandson. โWhat are you planning to do? We agreed on this! Besides, you heard what Sienna said; she doesnโt like you anymore! Forcing things never works out well, donโt you know?โ
Back then, he reluctantly married Sienna. And what happened? Were they happy? Miranda thought.
Mentioning the past, Josiahโs expression grew somber, a chilling aura surrounding him. Miranda pulled him, shaking her head. โListen to Grandma; this wonโt work! Donโt push her.โ
Seeing Miranda so tense, Josiah laughed. โMiranda, why are you worried I wonโt hurt her?โ How could I bear to hurt the woman I want? he thought.
โThatโs good,โ Miranda sighed in relief. โSienna is a good girl. The more I see her, the more I like her.โ
Josiah curled his lips and nodded. โYeah, she is.โ
Breakfast was served, but Miranda was absent. โWhereโs Miranda?โ Sienna had to give Josiah his portion first.
Josiah pulled out a chair, sat down, and took a sip of coffee. โMiranda said she wasnโt feeling well and went back upstairs. Linda will bring her breakfast later.โ
โOh,โ Sienna nodded, puzzled. โMiranda seemed okay just now. Maybe sheโs still weak from her recent illness.โ
The two sat facing each other. Sienna had something on her mind, wondering how to talk to him.
โUmโฆโ As soon as she opened her mouth, Josiah reached out an arm.
โWhat?โ Sienna blinked, confused.
A low chuckle came from Josiah. โCanโt see it! Isnโt this how you like to eat it? Open your mouth.โ
Sienna looked down at what Josiah heldโa baguette dipped in creamy mushroom soup. Her heart skipped a beat. โYes, I did like eating it this way back when I was with the Flynn family,โ Sienna was dazed. How does he even know?
โCome on, open your mouth.โ Seeing her hesitate, Josiah frowned and urged. โMy arm is getting sore.โ
โUhโฆโ Sienna really couldnโt let him feed her, so she waved her hand. โNo need, Iโll do it myselfโฆโ
โHurry up,โ Josiahโs expression turned stern. โJust do what I say!โ
Hearing the commotion from the kitchen, Linda shook her head. Mr. Flynn, youโre all grown up, yet you still donโt know how to chase a girl! Being so gruff, which girl would like that?
Left with no other choice, Sienna clenched her hands and opened her mouth. It was such a big piece that it filled her mouth completely.
โToo much?โ Josiah noticed and humbly said, โGot it. Iโll make it smaller next time.โ While watching Siennaโs mouth, he thought, Her mouth is really small; that saying about cherry-like lips must be about Sienna.
Sienna finally managed to chew and swallow. โJosiah, about my return to Mazeโฆโ
โAh, open your mouth.โ The second piece of bread was brought to her lips. Josiah looked at her and said, โThis time I cut it into smaller pieces.โ
Reluctantly, Sienna opened her mouth again.
โSienna, I will treat you well from now on,โ Josiah said sincerely.
