Chapter 83
After years of not driving, Sienna drove extremely cautiously, moving at a snail's pace. Josiah didn't rush her; he leaned back in his seat with his eyes closed, seemingly asleep.
Fortunately, it was a smooth and uneventful journey, and they arrived safely at the Flynn residence. Sienna parked the car in front of the main building, still gripping the steering wheel tightly, her body tense and unrelaxed.
She turned to look at Josiah beside her. In a low voice, she said, "Josiah, we're here. Wake up."
"Hmm?" Josiah groggily opened his eyes, immediately noticing her tense expression.
"Jeez," he chuckled. "Why so nervous? It's just driving."
Sienna, tense the entire journey, couldn't hold it in any longer. "I told you I don't like it! Don't make me drive!"
Josiah was taken aback, his eyes lighting up. He burst into loud laughter.
Sienna glared, her cheeks flushed with anger. Must have been blind to ever like someone so terrible, she thought.
"Are you angry?" Josiah tried to stifle his laughter, fearing Sienna might start "baring her teeth." But while he could control his laughter, he couldn't stop the excitement in his heart. "Sienna, I want to kiss you."
Sienna's mind went blank. He had already leaned in, cupping her face, and kissed her. His lips firmly sealed hers. The warm breath, combined with a crisp hint of red wine, filled her senses.
In less than a second, Sienna's eyes widened. Embarrassed and angry, she started hitting Josiah hard. "Let go...umph." But opening her mouth gave him the chance to deepen the kiss. She was no match for his strength.
It's crazy! He's really lost it! What does he think he is, treating me like this so casually? Before, I was the one chasing him, humbling myselfโit was my own choice! Sienna thought. But now? I've been avoiding him, yet he still does whatever he wants.
Sienna was filled with hatred, so much so that she felt like dragging him down with her. Maybe I could just bite him to death? she wondered.
However, before she could act, Josiah suddenly let go, his head drooping, leaning against her neck, and thenโฆ stayed still.
"What's going on?" Sienna whispered, "Josiah?"
Josiah didn't respond.
"Hey! What's wrong with you?"
Still no response. Could it be that he fell asleep? Sienna thought.
Sienna tried to move him, but he was too heavy. Her efforts were useless.
Just then, Zaid came out from inside. "Oh, you're finally back. If you didn't come back soon, I was about to go find you."
"Zaid," Sienna said, "Look at him, he seems drunk and has fallen asleep."
Zaid came over to check. "Looks like Mr. Flynn fell asleep for real. Better get him inside. I'll handle it."
"Thank you, Zaid," Sienna said.
"It's no trouble, it's my duty!"
Zaid supported Josiah, half-carrying and half-dragging him into the main building. Sienna followed, worried that if Josiah tripped, it would be blamed on her.
Thankfully, nothing happened. As she was about to leave, Miranda emerged from the room.
Miranda was delighted. "Sienna? You're here?"
"Miranda," Sienna explained, "I was just bringing Josiah back because he had too much to drink."
A glint of cunning flashed in Miranda's eyes. "Really? Looks like my little grandson told me the truth; he's already making his move on Sienna."
Miranda took Sienna's hand. "It's late. Don't go back tonight. Have breakfast with me in the morning, okay?"
"Miranda," Sienna hesitated.
"Be good. Are you not going to listen to Grandma anymore?"
"No, it's not that," Sienna thought and decided to stay. Besides, Josiah hadn't agreed to let me dance at Maze yet.
"Okay," Sienna nodded.
The next day, Sienna woke early. Miranda, being older, also rose early.
"Morning, Sienna," Miranda said, tending to her flowers. "Breakfast isn't ready yet, come keep me company for a chat."
"Sure, Miranda," Sienna sat on a small chair.
Miranda put down her shears and sat beside Sienna, giving her a thorough look. "Sienna, you've grown into a lovely young woman. It's no wonder the men like you; even Grandma likes you."
"Miranda," Sienna's eyes widened. "What are you talking about?"
What did she mean by 'the boys like her'? Sienna wondered.
"Oh, are you getting shy now?" Miranda chuckled. "Hint: Cedric, a man..."
"Miranda," Sienna chuckled helplessly. She still remembers this?
"Let's not talk about Cedric," Miranda said, her smile fading. "Today, I want to talk about someone else."
"What? Who else?" Sienna was puzzled.
Miranda sighed, gritting her teeth. For my grandson's sake, I'm willing to swallow my pride!
"Besides Cedric, Grandma has another candidate in mind. I think he's more suitable for you," she said.
Another matchmaking attempt. More suitable? I couldn't even measure up to Cedric, let alone someone supposedly better. Sienna couldn't figure out who Miranda meant.
"Miranda, I really..."
"Let me finish," Miranda said, sensing a refusal. "This person is Josiah."
Sienna was stunned. She never thought Miranda would plead on Josiah's behalf.
"Oh dear," Miranda kept sighing. "I know it's shameless of me to say this. Before, he was the one who didn't want you, and now he's the one who wants you backโฆ"
Miranda rubbed her temples. That troublesome kid, always causing me so much trouble! she thought.
"But, Sienna, he came to Grandma and said he wants to win you back and live happily together. As his grandma, how could I turn him down, right?"
Miranda glanced at Sienna's expression. "From what he said, it seems like he's serious this time. Besides, Sienna, you've liked him for so many years, haven't you? If you get back together, it would be like your wish coming true, wouldn't it?"
