Three months later… My hands were shaking so badly I nearly dropped the plastic stick I was clutching. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from those two pink lines that had just appeared.
“Fuck,” I whispered, gripping the edge of the bathroom sink.
I refused to believe it. This had to be wrong. With trembling fingers, I ripped open the second test from the package, desperately following the instructions again. The three-minute wait felt like hours as I paced the small bathroom, chewing my fingernails raw.
When I finally forced myself to look, the result was unmistakable. Positive, clear as day. I was pregnant with Sebastian’s baby.
I slid down against the cold tile wall, wrapping my arms around my knees. The past few months had been absolute hell. I’d become an outcast from both Packs, my name mud throughout the entire werewolf community. Everyone knew what happened between Sebastian and me, but no one believed I’d been drunk. In their eyes, I was just the wolfless slut who’d seduced my sister’s boyfriend.
I was shunned at Pack gatherings and ostracized at school. My mother and father barely spoke to me anymore. Aurora had completely cut ties, saying I was dead to her. As for Roman, I might as well not exist in his world. And Sebastian? I hadn’t seen him since that night.
Over these weeks, my heart had broken again and again, with no breathing room to recover from the constant pain and rejection. If I thought my life was shit before, it had become a hundred times worse.
I felt utterly alone, and now I was pregnant. Would they demand I terminate it? I wouldn’t be surprised. They were still trying to get Sebastian and Aurora back together, even though Aurora had broken up with him after the incident.
Looking around my room, I quickly made my decision. I couldn’t stay here anymore. It wasn’t healthy for me or my pup. I placed my hand on my stomach, silently promising to give him or her all the love I never received.
Roman and Sebastian were both at home, so both families went out for brunch. I wasn’t invited, of course. They didn’t want me anywhere near Sebastian. Honestly, they didn’t want to see me at all.
I quickly started packing only the essentials. I had some money saved from my part-time job. Enough to start a new life. I could continue working until I was about eight months pregnant, which would allow me to save more since my father had cut me off financially.
Just as I was almost done, my bedroom door opened, and my mother walked in. Shit, I hadn’t expected them to return so quickly.
“What are you doing?” she asked, looking at my suitcase. Her voice held no emotion, like she was talking to a stranger.
“Isn’t it obvious? I’m leaving… There’s no point staying in a place where I’m hated,” I answered, turning to zip up my suitcase.
She said something, but I wasn’t paying attention. I needed to get out of here. The farther away from these people, the better.
“What is this, Thea?” The tone in her voice made me turn around.
I froze when I saw my pregnancy test in her hand. Damn it, how could I have been careless enough to leave it on my dresser?
“It’s nothing, it’s my friend’s,” I tried to brush it off.
“You don’t have friends… Oh my God, is this why you’re running away? As if destroying Sebastian and Aurora’s relationship wasn’t bad enough, now you want to trap him with a baby?” She began pacing around the room.
“How do you know it’s his? You all think I’m a slut, so it could be anyone’s.” I stomped my foot in frustration, and she looked at me with an unreadable expression.
I just wanted to leave. I wanted to get away from all of them. Was that so hard?
“I’m not letting you leave unless we confirm you’re carrying Sebastian’s heir.”
Before I could do anything, she rushed out the door and locked me in my room.
I looked toward the window and saw the bars they’d installed after discovering I’d snuck out that night. A few minutes later, my phone started ringing with Sebastian’s name flashing. I ignored it.
Positive – 2
I guessed my mother had already told him; otherwise, why would he call a woman he believed had taken advantage of him while drunk?
There was no way out except through the window. I grabbed a chair and smashed the glass. I pushed at the wooden boards used to block the window until they loosened. I shoved my suitcase out the window, and it fell to the ground.
Like I said, my room was in the farthest part of the house, so the commotion wouldn’t alert anyone. I climbed down slowly, carefully avoiding the broken glass. When I made it down, I breathed a sigh of relief.
I picked up my suitcase and looked down at my phone to call a taxi when I bumped into someone. I looked up and cowered when my eyes met Sebastian’s icy green ones.
“Were you really planning to run away with my pup?” he asked, his tone edged with danger.
I held up my hands, releasing the suitcase at the same time.
“I already told my mother the baby isn’t yours,” I lied, taking a step back.
I would never let my pup grow up in such a toxic environment, a place where everyone hated his or her mother.
“You dare lie to me.” He growled low. “You were a fucking virgin. You might have fooled your mother, but I know that pup is mine.”
I was momentarily shocked that he knew I was a virgin. We were both drunk, especially him.
“How did you know?” I asked quietly.
“There was blood on the sheets we slept on.”
I didn’t care about his answer. “It doesn’t matter. The baby could still be anyone’s. I might have slept with countless males afterward.”
His eyes narrowed, anger storming in them.
I looked away, and that’s when I saw my taxi arriving.
“I’m sorry I messed up your relationship with Aurora, but I need to leave. My life isn’t here anymore. I sincerely hope you two can reconcile and eventually get back together.” I tried to move past him, but he grabbed my hand, stopping me.
He took some money from his pocket and gave it to the driver, apologizing for the inconvenience.
“Sebastian, let me go.” I tugged at my hand, but he still wouldn’t release it.
“No, we’re getting married right now. I’ve already got a minister waiting at your parents’ house,” he said, pulling me toward the house.
“I will not marry you!” I argued. Was he insane? Why would he want to marry a woman he hated?
“Yes, we will, and that’s final.” His grip on my hand tightened.
Fear and panic began rising within me. This wasn’t what I wanted.
“We don’t have to do this. Think about it, you can tell everyone the baby isn’t yours, and I’ll leave and never come back. No one will know, and after some time, Aurora will take you back. If she finds out I’m not only pregnant with your pup but also married to you, you’ll destroy any chance of reuniting with her.” I pleaded with him, hoping he would understand. “Please let me go, and you’ll never have to see me again. You can continue with your life like I don’t exist.”
He stopped walking, and I thought I’d convinced him.
“No!” he said firmly, “I might hate you, but I won’t allow my pup to grow up without a father.”
With that, he pulled me into the house where the minister, Roman, and my parents were waiting.
About thirty minutes later, we were married. As soon as the ceremony ended, Sebastian left immediately, leaving me with my family. I couldn’t even call them family anymore because they looked at me like I was the enemy.
Shortly after, I was left alone. I placed my hand on my belly and smiled. Maybe this was a blessing in disguise, I fooled myself.
It was then that I made a promise to my pup that he or she would be born into a loving home. I would make Sebastian fall in love with me so my child wouldn’t grow up in a broken home. Little did I know that after that promise, Sebastian would destroy me in more ways than one.
