Chapter 107

Damon

I was so afraid to leave Clara's side that I clung to her all night and didn't sleep a wink. Something must be wrong with me. Why had I even asked her that? Even though Clara could be hot-headed, she would never try to kill anyone. Even if she had, I didn't ask to scold her or protect Alicia; I just wanted to know. If she was so bothered by Alicia's presence, Alicia had to leave. My relationship with Clara was already shaky, and I couldn't afford to let Alicia ruin what I was working so hard on.

"Damon, can you let go? I need to pee," I suddenly heard Clara say. She slowly turned to me, ensuring I'd heard her, and I couldn't resist kissing her.

I didn't know why I kept getting this wrong, why I kept making her sad. I was seriously trying my best to be better, to show her how much I loved and cared for her.

"Be patient with me, Clara, please?" I murmured against her lips, and she frowned.

"Can you just let me pee? I don't want to pee on the bed!" she whined, and I sighed before releasing her.

She hurried to the bathroom, and I slowly sat up, waiting for her. I wasn't good at this whole "couples talk" thing, but Clara and I needed to have this conversation.

A few seconds later, she emerged from the bathroom and stood by the door, staring at me cautiously.

"Can we talk, please?" I murmured, and she frowned.

"If you want to talk about Alicia and how I poisoned her, then"

"No, Clara, I'm sorry I even asked you that question. Can we just talk, please?" I asked, and she stared at me for a while before sighing.

"Fine, but be quick; I have to give your mother her medicine," she muttered, walking to the bed and sitting beside me.

We were both quiet for a while until I took her hand and squeezed it gently.

"Do you want me to send Alicia away?" I asked, and she huffed before turning away.

"If you want me to, I'm not going to ask you to," she murmured, and I sighed before gently turning her face back toward me so I could look into her eyes.

"Can you please explain how you feel? I won't know unless you tell me. You're my wife; you should be able to tell me anything," I murmured, and she sighed.

"It's not about me telling you how I feel; are you going to listen? Are you going to validate my feelings?" she asked, and I frowned.

"Of course, I am," I said, and she scoffed, about to turn away, but my hold on her face was firm.

"Listen to me, Clara. You matter most to me in this world, and I'm dead serious. I will always listen to you and validate your feelings, so please, talk to me," I murmured. She pouted, and I could see tears welling up in her eyes.

"I don't want you being close to her, I don't want you talking to her, I don't want you laughing with her; I just want you to be mine. You can't be friends with her, and I know that's selfish of me, since she probably knows more than I do, but I'm selfish when it comes to you. I don't want you being close to her," she revealed, crying harder with each word.

I immediately pulled her onto my lap and hugged her tightly.

"Do you know how I feel when I see her with you? I know the two of you have history together, and it hurts more than anything to see you laugh and be so friendly with her. You belong to me; you should only laugh and be friendly with me," she murmured, and I chuckled before peppering her face with kisses.

"Yes, I belong to you and only you, so your wish is my command. I'll smile, laugh, and be friendly with only you, so don't cry anymore. I want you to smile," I murmured, kissing away her tears, and she sighed.

"If I see you smile at her, I will be very angry," she said, and I grinned.

"I promise I will not even look in her direction again. I love you," I murmured, kissing her lips, and she immediately leaned into me.

She stayed like that for a while until she said she had to give my mother her medicine.

After a hot shower and sex, we bathed, got dressed, and went to my parents' mansion. Exclusive © material by NovelDrama.Org.

To say I was shocked to see Alicia there is an understatement. I had left her at the hospital yesterday.

As soon as she saw me, her eyes widened, and she ran toward me with her arms outstretched.

"Damon!" she called, but I stepped aside, not even glancing at her as I turned to Clara.

"Shall we go see my mother now?" I asked, and she smiled and nodded. I smiled back at her, took her hand, and led her to my mother's room after she greeted my father.

She was in a very good mood, beaming with happiness as she gave my mother her medicine and even laughed at my mother's dry jokes. I was glad she was in a good mood.

After she finished treating my mother, we said our goodbyes and left the room, only to find Alicia waiting for us in the hallway.

I glanced at Clara and was about to walk past Alicia when she jumped in front of me with her arms outstretched.

"Why are you ignoring me? Did I do something wrong? Is it because I said I got sick after Clara gave me a cookie? I didn't mean anything by it, so please, please stop ignoring me," Alicia pleaded, and I glared down at her.

"Get out of my way," I muttered through clenched teeth, but when she didn't move, I pushed her aside. She dramatically fell to the floor, clutching herself in pain.

Clara stared at me wide-eyed, probably expecting me to help Alicia, but I just tightened my grip on Clara's hand and pulled her away while Alicia screamed for me.

As we walked out of the house, she wrapped her arms around me and snuggled into my chest.

"I love you," she murmured, and I smiled.

"I'll say it back when you're panting and shaking on top of me."
