Chapter 118: Damon

A smile played on my lips as Clara recounted her day. She was unbelievably cute. "It seems your day wasn't as boring as you said," I remarked, kissing her before pulling her closer.

"Yeah, I guess. What about you? How was your day?" she asked. I sighed, playing with her hair. "Stressful. My father's pushing the Alpha King's responsibilities onto me," I explained. She looked up.

"Since our relationship isn't based on a contract anymore, why not accept the Alpha King title? It would relieve your father, letting him spend more time with your mother," she suggested. I'd been considering it for a while. Becoming Alpha King had been a childhood dream. Initially, I craved the power, the superiority. But after meeting Clara, everything changed. As I gazed at her, I couldn't help but smile. She'd changed me profoundly, unknowingly.

"What is it? Do I look funny?" she asked. I shook my head, gently pinching her nose. "You're so beautiful, I just want to eat your face," I replied, peppering her face with kisses. She squealed, playfully pushing me away. "Stop, we're having a serious conversation," she said, resting her head on my chest.

"I'll think about it after our vacation," I replied. She looked up, pouting. "You don't sound enthusiastic. This was the main reason we met," she pointed out. I nodded.

"Yes, but being Alpha King means I'll be busier, and I want to spend time with you. I barely see you during the day, and it's taking its toll," I said. She giggled, her cheeks flushing. "Who knew the big, bad Alpha could be so desperately in love?" she teased. I sighed. "I think you've cast a spell on me, Clara, but I don't mind because I love being in love with you," I responded, kissing her cheek.

"I love you," she said. The look in her eyes nearly stopped my heart. I'm sure mine mirrored hers.

"How about you show me how much you love me by getting on your knees and…," I began softly, caressing her face, but she frowned. "You're so vulgar, leave me alone," she said, trying to move away. I held her tighter, peppering her face with kisses as she giggled. Nights like these were unforgettable.

The next morning, Clara watched me get dressed. I had an unexpected meeting with the board, so I had to leave. "I'll be back early, I promise," I said, kissing her. She gazed at me with puppy-dog eyes, and I almost gave in. "Don't look at me like that," I said. She sighed. "What am I supposed to do while you're gone?" she whined. I chuckled. "What you always do. Read a book, or spend time with Delilah?" I suggested.

She scoffed. "She's been so busy with Luca these days that…" Clara stopped abruptly, her eyes widening. The meaning of her words hit me, instantly souring my mood.

"What do you mean, busy with Luca?" I asked softly. She stood, grabbing my hand. "Calm down, Damon. It's not like that," she said. I scoffed. "Not like what exactly? What are you hiding from me, Clara?!" I yelled. "Don't yell at me," she warned. I took a breath. "Clara, what's going on between Luca and Delilah? I'm your husband; you shouldn't be hiding things from me," I said, pouting. "It's not my secret to tell," she replied. I detached myself from her. "Fine. I'll find out myself," I said, running to Delilah's house as Clara called after me. "Damon, stop!"

I halted, my eyes widening at the sight of Luca and Delilah kissing on her doorstep. A growl escaped my throat. They turned, fear and shock evident in their eyes. Luca stepped forward. Before he could speak, I punched him, then pounced. "Damon, no!" Delilah screamed, wisely staying back. "You bastard!" I screamed, punching him repeatedly. Dimitri intervened, pulling me off Luca, but I punched him too before returning to Luca. I was about to strike again when Clara threw herself onto my back. "That's enough!" she screamed. My fist paused mid-air. "That's enough, Damon, you're going to kill him," she murmured. I looked down; she was right. Luca looked near death.

"How dare you?" I glared at Luca.

"It was me! I pressured him! Please leave us alone!" Delilah cried, tears streaming down her face.

"If you keep sleeping with my sister, you'd better get ready to say goodbye to your position," I muttered, ignoring Delilah as I climbed off Luca. "Damon…"

"I don't want to hear it, Clara," I interjected. I clenched my fist as Delilah rushed to Luca, cradling his head. "You cannot control my life or his, Damon! I won't let you!" she screamed, glaring at me.

"Fine. But he won't remain my Beta if he's sleeping with you, Delilah. He has to choose. You or me. Make a choice, or I will."
