Chapter 120 - DAMON

I glanced at Clara, seated on the couch in my study. She’d insisted on staying to watch over me, just in case Luca or Delilah came to talk. She didn't trust me to remain reasonable. "How are you so sure they're coming?" I asked, turning to her. She lifted her eyes from her book. "I'm not sure, but just in case. I'm not letting you lose your cool again," she said. I chuckled, pushed back my chair, stood, and walked toward her. I took the book from her; she glared. "I was reading that," she said. I chuckled, leaned down, and kissed the tip of her nose. "I can't work properly because of your sexy ass," I muttered. She squealed as I peppered her neck and face with kisses.

I stopped abruptly, catching Luca and Delilah's scent. "They're coming," I announced, straightening and returning to my seat.

Delilah walked in, Luca behind her. "Damon, we need to talk," Delilah said. I looked at Luca. His face was still bruised, though mostly healed. Had I punched him that hard? "What about? I'm busy," I said. Clara cleared her throat. Turning to her, I saw her glaring, and sighed. "What is it?" I asked, turning back to Delilah.

"Your actions haven't been fair, Damon. You can't give Luca such a ridiculous ultimatum. Why are you doing this?" Delilah asked. I tilted my head. "Well, you weren't the one I gave the ultimatum, were you?" I countered. She bristled. "So what's it going to be, Luca? My sister or your position?" I interrupted, turning to Luca, who hadn't spoken since arriving.

"But Damon…" Delilah began.

"It's okay, Delilah," Luca interjected, smiling at her before moving closer to my desk. We stared at each other for a moment before he bowed his head. "Giving up Delilah was never an option. I'd rather lose my position than lose her, Alpha," he said. Delilah gasped, grabbing his hand.

"But Luca…"

"It's okay. Having you is more than enough for me," he replied, kissing her forehead. I frowned. It felt strange seeing them like this, though I'd always suspected it, I'd never considered it seriously. I turned to Clara; she was frowning, so I smiled to reassure her.

"And when you find your fated mate, what then?" I asked, turning back to them. They seemed shocked. "What? Cat got your tongue?" I asked, earning another glare from Clara.

"The love Luca and I share is so much stronger than a mate bond," Delilah said. I scoffed. "And how would you know that, when you haven't found your mate?" I asked. She frowned.

"I would know because I've met my mate, but I rejected her," Luca said. The room fell silent.

"When?" I asked, incredulous.

"She was at the retreat you sent me to last year. She was Alpha Magnus's daughter. I was already madly in love with Delilah, but I knew you wouldn't accept our relationship, so I tried my best to fall for my mate. Of course, the mate bond was there, but at night, it was Delilah I thought of. So I rejected her to save her from heartbreak, to give her a second chance with another mate, if the Moon Goddess was kind enough."

To say I was shocked is an understatement. Even though Clara and I had a rocky start, I couldn't imagine life without her. For him to reject his fated mate for my sister…

"I didn't know that. You didn't tell me," Delilah murmured, tears in her eyes.

"I didn't think there was any need. Besides, it was a long time ago," Luca replied, wiping away her tears.

"What if you find a mate, Delilah?" I asked. She didn't bother turning to me. "I'll reject him. I can't love anyone more than I love Luca, and if you want to come between us, we'll gladly get out of your hair," she said, turning to me. I rolled my eyes. Why did she have to be so dramatic?

"It was fun being your right-hand man and friend, Damon," Luca said, bowing his head. I scoffed. "What? So our friendship meant nothing to you? You didn't even try to fight for your position?" I muttered. His eyes widened. "But…"

"Whatever. I don't want to ever see you two making out in front of me, okay? And if Delilah distracts you from your work, I won't be happy, okay?" I said. They stared at me, confused.

"I don't understand what's going on," Luca said. Clara slid over, placing a hand on my shoulder.

"What my darling husband is trying to say is that he approves of your relationship, and you don't have to stop being his Beta because of it," she said. The surprised look on Delilah and Luca's faces brought a smile to my face.

I grimaced as Delilah squealed, jumping into Luca's arms. Clara wrapped her arms around me and kissed my cheek. "I'm so proud of you, Damon," she murmured. I grinned. "How about you show me how proud you are in the bedroom tonight?" I asked. She rolled her eyes. "When will you stop thinking with your dick?" she asked. I tilted my head. "With you? Never."

NOTE: Now that that’s over, who’s ready for the drama?
