Chapter 94
Clara frowned up at me, and I couldn't help but admire how cute she was. "Do you really have to go?" she asked. I chuckled, kissing her lips. "Yes, my love, but I promise I'll be back tonight, and I intend to keep that promise," I murmured, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Be careful, okay? If you come back injured this time, I won't take care of you," she murmured, and I chuckled, knowing it was a lie.
"Steven and Gwen, make sure my wife has all her guards with her today, and that she goes out. Understood?" I ordered sternly. They bowed their heads. They still held some hostility toward me, but they'd warmed up to Clara, and that's all that mattered.
"You worry too much," Clara pointed out. I kissed her again. "When it comes to you, I have to, because you're always getting yourself into trouble. Don't go jumping into any rivers this time," I murmured. She rolled her eyes.
"I don't regret my actions," she murmured, and I chuckled. I saw my parents and Amelia approaching and sighed. Here comes the lecture.
"You're leaving," my father stated. I gave him a curt nod. "If you're here to lecture me, then make sure you teach them a good lesson. No one should be allowed to mess with your family," he said. I stared at him in shock. Clara wrapped her arms around me tightly, snapping me out of my trance, and I hugged her back just as tightly.
"I'll be cheering you on from here," she murmured. I chuckled. Even though I wouldn't need it, she was too cute to refute. After ensuring she'd be okay while I was gone, Luca got into the car with me, and the others followed.
"Tell me their current situation," I asked Luca as we drove out of the pack. He didn't reply. I turned to him; he was staring out the window, looking distant. "Luca," I called, louder this time. He turned, clearing his throat apologetically. "I'm sorry, did you say something, Alpha?" he asked. I frowned. "Is something bothering you? You've been acting gloomy since this morning," I pointed out. He shook his head, flashing a smile. "I was just daydreaming a little, nothing's wrong," he said. I sighed. "Then focus, Luca. I asked what their current situation is." He checked his phone. "Like you predicted, they're on the run," Luca said. I smirked. The south didn't know who they were messing with. I'd been lenient before, but not anymore. It was time to unleash my ruthless side and end this quickly so I could go home and cuddle with my wife.
Author's POV:
"Do we really have to run? Why can't we just fight him, Father?" Alpha Richard turned to his son, sighing. "Because no one has ever won against me, and I'm not willing to risk anything to find out if we can win. Get your things and go to your mother; I'll be right there," he murmured, urging his son to leave.
Alpha Richard gathered essentials, left the house, and went to meet my family. He couldn't help but relive the night he'd killed his dearest friend, all because the Death Viper had tricked him. He wouldn't deny he'd fueled this revenge, but he knew it wouldn't do them any good. Not only was the Death Viper strong, but the entire north could bring the east, west, and south down if they wanted to; that's why they were the strongest. The east had urged them on, lying about support, but refused them refuge. He couldn't blame them; the south had suffered greatly from previous attacks by the Death Viper and could barely defend themselves. Joining the east would only make them a liability.
"Alpha Richard," He turned to see Alpha Mason approaching with his family. "Everyone's ready to leave," Alpha Mason reported. Richard sighed, glancing back at his house before turning to his family. "Let's go."
Before they could move, a knife flew, hitting Mason in the heart. He fell. Richard's mother held her son as they turned to see Alpha Damon and his men, covered in blood, approaching. Their hearts pounded; they were unarmed and at Damon's mercy.
"Tsk tsk, you tried to run after almost getting my wife killed? I tried to be lenient last time, but it seems you don't like me being nice. By the way, I already killed everyone on my way here, which is why I'm covered in blood. Looks good on me, doesn't it?" Damon said with a manic smile. Richard's heart dropped. His wife fell to her knees, crying.
"Please have mercy on the children, they had nothing to do with this," she pleaded. Richard clenched his fist. Why did Damon always win? Why did they have to cower? He was just a regular wolf. "I would have, but you dared to come for my wife again. I'm done being nice. Slaughter them all and crush their bones. I want them exhumed from existence, as if they never existed."
