Chapter 264: Fraserโs Marriage Proposal
Tonight, I had already promised Fox that the Stromart Group had found a suitable successor and had taken care of everything. I wasnโt afraid of people pointing fingers at her. It was just that I didnโt want my child to be born under such scrutiny.
Now that I heard Fraser mention marriage, it was as if my heart remained completely untouched. Summer raised her eyes and stared at him intently. "Fraser, you really don't have to marry me just because of this child. I can take care of this myself. You don't owe me anything. This child is my decision to keep."
Fraser frowned deeply. "Who told you I'm doing this for the child?" She thinks I want to marry her because of the pregnancy. What a joke. I had never cared about children or anything like that. The only reason it mattered was because it was Nummerโs.
Fraser lowered his gaze, his dark eyes fixed intently on her face. Her delicate features were as exquisite as ever, but now they carried a sense of distance. "Summer, a child alone would never be enough to make me decide to get married. Can't it just be because I love you?"
Summer kept her eyes downcast. "You've said before that you like my body. I remember."
Fraser felt a headache coming on. Damn my past self for saying such nonsense. Now she was holding it against me. Fraser reached out with his long fingers to gently stroke her hair, his deep voice carrying a hint of helplessness. "I take thoseโฆ I love you. Nothing else matters."
Summerโs entire body instantly stiffened. "Summer." A call came from the villa at that moment. Summer turned her head and seemed to see Juliaโs figure appearing. She took a quick step back and took off Fraserโs suit jacket to give it back to him. "I have to go back now."
"Just like that?" Fraser said, upset.
"My mother is calling me."

Fraser lowered his eyes to look at her and said softly, "At least let my account out from the blacklist before you go."
Summer continued to look anxiously at the mansion. She didnโt want Julia to discover them. "You are so capable. Even without my contact information, you managed to summon me tonight."
"That's different."
I couldnโt possibly have to go through Mike every time I wanted to talk to her. How ridiculous would that be?

As Julia walked out into the front yard of the mansion, Summer became even more flustered and pulled her hand out of his grasp. "Fraser, whatever reasons you have for wanting to marry me, it doesnโt matter. What matters is that I donโt want anything to do with your Graham family anymore."
After saying that, Summer turned and walked quickly back to the mansion. Fraser watched as Summer turned and walked away, out of his sight. He took a cigarette case from his pocket, lit a cigarette, and took a deep drag. The smoke curled upward in the darkness, obscuring his expression. Only when the ember glowed brightly for a moment was his face faintly visible. After a while, Fraser tossed the cigarette to the ground and crushed it under his shoe, grinding out the last glowing sparks. He took out his cell phone and made a call. "Come out. Let's drink and talk."
Summer hurried back inside. Julia looked past Summer with meaningful eyes. "Why were you out so late?"
Summer seemed slightly uncomfortable. "The moon was out tonight, so I went for a walk.โ
Julia didnโt press further. โI just called your aunt. Since weโre going to be moving there in a few months, I asked her to help us find a house first.โ
Noticing Summerโs distracted silence, Julia asked, โSummer, whatโs wrong?โ
Summer pulled the shawl around her shoulders and looked at Julia. โMom, when a man wants to marry a woman when sheโs pregnant, is it because he loves her or just because of the child?โ
Ever since Julia had gone and begged Helen herself and been thoroughly humiliated, she understood completely that the old woman was domineering, stubborn, and closed-minded. Even if Summer married into that family one day, she would never have a good life. So Julia had long since given up on that hope.
Julia composed herself and said, โFrom what I know about men, the manโs just cherishing this child. Summer, as someone who has been through this, men will say all kinds of sweet words at the beginning, but after marriage itโs always the same. Isnโt Jasper the perfect example?โ
Summer made a small sound of acknowledgement. โNow that weโve made our decision, I think you should focus on getting things done at the Stewart Group.โ
Summer pressed her lips together. โAlright.โ
