Chapter 265: Xavierโ€™s Warning

+8 Pearls

He slumped into his seat with an air of lazy indifference, his handsome face expressionless. His long legs were crossed at the ankles, the fabric of his tailored pants smooth and immaculate.

Xavier watched the stage sway as he took a leisurely sip of his drink. โ€œWhatโ€™s with the sudden invitation?โ€

Fraser shot him a look. โ€œNo women tonight? Thatโ€™s not like you.โ€

Xavier grinned. โ€œI have my eye on someone. Until I win her, Iโ€™ll keep my hands to myself.โ€

Fraser picked up a glass of strong liquor from the table and downed it in one gulp, offering a terse assessment, โ€œRare.โ€

Xavier raised an eyebrow. โ€œArenโ€™t you curious who it is?โ€

Fraser lifted his lids indifferently. โ€œNot interested.โ€

Xavier was speechless.

โ€œItโ€™s Summerโ€ฆโ€ Before he could finish, Xavier felt the weight of a sharp, icy stare land on him.

He chuckled awkwardly. โ€œEasy there, Mr. Graham. I wasnโ€™t finished. Itโ€™s Summerโ€™s friend, Yvette.โ€

โ€œThat actress?โ€

โ€œActress!โ€ Xavier scoffed. โ€œSheโ€™s a star! The most beautiful one at that.โ€

Fraser had no interest and returned to his drink. Then his hand stopped in mid-air. โ€œDonโ€™t go after her.โ€

โ€œWhy not?โ€

โ€œSince when did Fraser have a say in whom I dated?โ€

Fraser narrowed his eyes, deadly serious. โ€œIf you pursue her and then dump her, Summer will make my life hell.โ€

Xavier froze.

The prejudice is unreal.

โ€œWhat if Iโ€™m serious this time?โ€

Fraser gave him a side-eye. โ€œYou!โ€

I admitted that Iโ€™d had a few girlfriends before. But each relationship had been genuine; since when was monogamy the only measure of sincerity?

Knowing that Fraser wouldnโ€™t understand, Xavier changed the subject. โ€œSo, what did you want to talk about?โ€

Fraser swirled the glass of imported wine in his hand, his deep voice tinged with frustration.

โ€œI confessed to Summer. I even proposed. Why wonโ€™t she accept?โ€

Xavier studied him. โ€œWerenโ€™t you two broken up before?โ€

Fraser hummed noncommittally.

โ€œMost women wouldnโ€™t jump right into marriage without getting back together first. Mr. Graham, do you mind if I ask how you and Summer got started in the first place?โ€

Fraser tapped his fingers slowly on the table. โ€œStarted?โ€

โ€œWait. I know. I flew a damn plane to deliver medicine for you, then waited five damn hours.โ€
