Chapter 1330
Less than an hour later, Reynaldo hurried back.
When he pushed open the door, he was covered in dust and dirt, and his body was filled with the cold air brought in from outside.
He looked at me intently, with furrowed brows and a slight rise and fall of his chest.
I greeted him with a smile and hugged him, "See, I didnโt lie to you, really waited for you at home."
Reynaldo raised his hand and firmly wrapped it around my shoulder.
He asked me nervously, "You really didnโt agree to Matthewโs conditions?"
โOf course not, if I had agreed to him, could I still be standing in front of you now?โ
Reynaldo didnโt say anything, he just held me tightly.
I patted his back gently and whispered, โThere, there, donโt worry. No matter why Kimberly withdrew the lawsuit, itโs a good thing for us, isnโt it?โ
โI thoughtโฆโ he took a deep breath and said, โthat you were going to leave with Matthew.โ
โNo way!โ
โEsmeralda, you promised me, you must never ever leave me.โ
I had a way to deal with Matthew, really, donโt overthink it, donโt be fooled by what Matthew said last time.
I was able to keep myself safe and rescue Johnathan.
โSo Esmeralda, donโt agree to his demands for the sake of these things, I beg you, donโt agree to him.โ
Reynaldoโs voice was full of fear and panic.
This was the first time I had seen him look so uneasy.
Pushing down the bitterness rising in my heart, I whispered to him, โDonโt worry, I really didnโt agree to his request.โ
Reynaldo didnโt say anything else, but he kept holding me tightly.
I nestled quietly in his arms, only hoping, โtime passes slowly, slower.โ
Since the case of Johnathan had been resolved, the fierce battle that night seemed unnecessary.
So that night, Reynaldo did not go out; he just stayed at home with me.
Around nine oโclock in the evening, I was lying in bed scrolling through my phone when Reynaldo suddenly answered a call. It seemed to be from Braylon.
I donโt know what was said to him on the other end of the phone, but suddenly he looked at me heavily, which made my heart skip a beat.
After he finished the call, I asked him anxiously, โWhatโs wrong? Did something happen?โ
โMatthew and Moshe had just left Freybourne.โ
I was taken aback. It seemed that Matthewโs words could be trusted after all.
Reynaldo looked at me with an increasingly intense gaze.
I felt a little nervous when he looked at me, and couldnโt help but laugh and say, โWhatโs wrong? Why are you looking at me like that? Matthew leaving Freybourne, isnโt that a good thing?โ
โWhy did he suddenly leave Freybourne?โ
Reynaldo walked over and asked me in a low voice.
I understood that he was still worried about โany dealingsโ between Matthew and me.
I smiled and said, โI donโt know, maybe they saw how powerful you are, got scared, and ran away with their tails between their legs. After all, Matthew was originally your subordinate.โ
โDo you think itโs possible?โ
Reynaldo got into bed, leaned against me, held me tightly in his arms, and furrowed his brow tightly.
โAnd he even got Kimberly to drop the lawsuit. If he hadnโt gotten what he wanted, he wouldnโt have done it at all."
โOh, so what do you want to say?โ I wrapped my arms around his waist, pretending to be speechless as I looked at him. โMatthew spared Johnathan from the plague and left Freybourne. Isnโt that a good thing? Why do you think so much?โ
