Chapter 237

They flattered Kimberly excessively, believing she would become the president's wife. I pursed my lips, remaining silent. The rumors weren't baseless; their widespread nature suggested Reynaldo's considerate behavior toward Kimberly was genuine. Reflecting on his attitude towards me, bitterness and sorrow welled within my heart.

Melany, seemingly remembering something, glanced at me, smiling in surprise. "Yes, I'm sorry, I forgot you used to be Mr. Humphrey's ex-wife. What I just said, don't take it seriously; it's all hearsay, you know." She returned to her desk, astonished, and resumed working on the report.

I lowered my gaze and self-mockingly tugged at my lips. What's the big deal about being sad? I already knew Reynaldo liked Kimberly. There's nothing to feel down about. I returned to my workstation, ready to find something to do. Yet, Reynaldo's pained expression unconsciously resurfaced in my mind. Is that man okay?

Chapter 237

Previously, at the construction site, they said the boss often suffered from stomach problemsโ€”that boss being him. So, he couldn't really have had a stomach problem, right? No, during our three years of marriage, he never had a stomachache. How long has it been since our divorce that he developed this stomach ailment?

Remembering his agonizing expression, I unconsciously scratched the table. His stomach problem seemed serious. What should I do? Is there any medicine nearby? I couldn't help but glance toward the president's office, feeling annoyed and conflicted. Last time at the construction site, someone else hurriedly bought medicine for him. With his personality, he definitely didn't carry stomach medicine. What should I do? Should I go buy medicine for him?

I took a deep breath, silently warning myself not to meddle. It's just a stomachache; he won't die. I opened my mailbox, pulling out a script I'd written for fun, trying to distract myself.

But that man's painful appearance kept flashing in my mind.

I irritably closed the document and stood up. I was frustrated. I'd seen him in such a sickly state. I really owe him! I thought with a heavy heart, then picked up my phone and went out to buy him stomach medicine. There was a pharmacy downstairs. I bought the medicine and hurried back to the company.

When I reached the president's office, I knocked. The door was opened by Leticia Dalton, the secretary team leader. She frowned, glancing at me disdainfully, then turned to Kimberly, complimenting her. "Kimberly, it has to be you. You're truly Mr. Humphrey's lucky star. You cured Mr. Humphrey's stomachache as soon as you arrived, unlike some people who only cause trouble for Mr. Humphrey.โ€ The "certain people" clearly referred to me. I remained silent, instinctively tightening my grip on the medicine.

Kimberly smiled shyly. "I was very aware of his condition, and he didn't take regular stomach medicine, only the one I bought for him. So, I always carried this stomach medicine with me.โ€

"Who does Mr. Humphrey like if not you, Kimberly, who is attentive and considerate?"

Reynaldo walked out of the lounge. He looked as if he'd just washed his face, with water droplets on his handsome face and wet hair. However, his complexion had improved significantly. Kimberly quickly got up, helping him sit, asking with concern, "Reynaldo, are you feeling better?"

Reynaldo nodded faintly, saying nothing. Kimberly sighed, feigning concern. "Luckily, I came early today. I also brought the stomach medicine you often take with me. Otherwise, I really wouldn't know what to do."
