Chapter 189
Who wouldโve thought William didnโt even plan on getting a divorce?
William rubbed his temples in frustration. โI havenโt thought that far ahead yet. Weโll deal with it when the time comes. Donโt worry, Samantha wonโt pressure me. She already told me that being with me is enough for her. She doesnโt care about status. She said whatever I decide, sheโll go along with it.โ
Cassandra nodded, pondering the situation. โBut that can only work for now. Thereโs no way this setup will last. If Rachel finds out about Samantha, with that temper of hers, sheโll cause an uproar. You canโt be fooled by how calm Rachel seems. She may not fight or argue on the surface, but if she ever discovers whatโs going on between you and Samantha, sheโll turn the entire household upside down.โ
The more Cassandra spoke, the more irritated William became.
โMom, can you not create unnecessary drama?โ
โThen why wonโt you divorce Rachel?โ
William rubbed his chin. His expression was tense. Feeling stifled, he yanked at his tie in agitation.
โRachel lost her hearing because of me. Mom, donโt bring up her deafness in front of her again. If she hadnโt stepped in front of me that day, Iโd be the one who became deaf.โ
Cassandra scoffed. โAnd what if she only did that to get close to you? Maybe she just saw a chance and took it.โ
She was getting more pleased with herself by the minute.
โYou think I forgot how many women were chasing after you back then? Our family never lacked options. And let me remind you, whether or not you end up divorcing Rachel, she cannot get involved with Tyler. That would be a complete disgrace to the Lewis family!โ
At the mention of Rachel and Tyler, Williamโs expression darkened even further. โI already warned her.โ
Truth be told, he hadnโt paid much attention even when the two of them started interacting.
While Cassandra and William were downstairs planning how to keep Rachel away from Tyler, upstairs, Samantha had already arrived at Rachelโs bedroom door. Without so much as knocking, she pushed it open.
โRachel, there you are!โ
Rachel was startled by Samanthaโs entrance. She looked up, saw Samantha leaning casually against the doorframe, and frowned.
โMs. Judd, as a guest, do you not know how to knock before entering someoneโs room?โ
Samantha faked a smile as she looked at Rachel. โI figured even if I knocked, you wouldnโt hear it, Rachel.โ
Rachel pursed her lips. โAnd if your boss couldnโt hear you knocking, would you still just walk in unannounced?โ
Samanthaโs smile faltered. She bit her lip, clearly reluctant, but in the end gave a few half-hearted knocks on the door.
Rachel gave a satisfied smile. โSo, Ms. Judd, what brings you here?โ
โOh, nothing much,โ Samantha said breezily. โI just wanted to show you this bracelet and see if it suits me. Itโs such a fine piece of emerald, and Iโm still young. Iโm not sure I can pull it off.โ
As she spoke, she raised her wrist to reveal the bracelet. Rachel instantly recognized it as Cassandraโs favorite emerald bracelet.
It was an heirloom that was traditionally passed to the daughter-in-law in the Lewis family.
Back when Rachel had married into the Lewis family, Cassandra had refused to pass it to her because she didnโt like her. Now, she had given it to Samantha, a woman visiting their home for the first time.
Rachel sneered on the inside.
She couldnโt force something that wasnโt meant to be.
