Chapter 197
Rachelโs old friends rarely came back to visit. These past few years, all her energy had been poured into William and work, so much so that she no longer had a life of her own.
If she wanted to go out for a drink, the only person she could really call was Cecilia.
But thinking of Ceciliaโs current situation, Rachel could only force a bitter smile. With all the drama going on in Ceciliaโs family, there was no way sheโd have the time or energy to come out drinking.
At this point, the only person left she could go to was Tyler.
Tyler raised an eyebrow with a faint smirk. โDidnโt think you had it in you, Rachel.โ
โItโs just a drink. Itโs not like Iโm marching into a burning building.โ
Just then, Tim came back with two bottles of water.
Tyler took them and opened the car door before giving him an order. โYou can head back.โ
โMr. Hunt, where are you headed? I can take you.โ
โItโs fine. Iโll call when Iโm done.โ
Tim nodded. โUnderstood.โ
After he left, Tyler handed Rachel one of the bottles. โItโs late. His wifeโs on the night shift. He has to go home and take care of his child.โ
Rachel was a little surprised. Was Tyler really that considerate? Then again, come to think of it, he was hard to define.
One could say he was a good guy, but he had watched Howard bully her without lifting a finger. Yet tonight, heโd come to her rescue.
There was no clear line between good and bad with Tyler. He drifted somewhere in between.
Feeling curious, Rachel asked, โSo do you always let him go home at this hour?โ
โSometimes. If I need him, he works.โ
Tyler opened the driverโs door and slid into the seat. He then turned to Rachel. โSit up front.โ
Rachel looked puzzled. โWhy? Iโm fine back here.โ
โI donโt like talking to empty space. And I donโt think you want me turning around while Iโm driving, right?โ
The moment he said it, Rachel pictured him twisting his body while behind the wheel. One mistake, and theyโd both be dead. Reluctantly, she got out and moved to the front.
They drove off. But instead of heading to a bar, Tyler stopped at a shopping mall.
He got out, turned back to her, and said, โGet out.โ
Rachel hadnโt even figured out what was happening. Tyler was already walking toward the entrance.
It wasnโt until then that she noticed it was a clothing mall. Despite how late it was, one of the stores was still lit inside.
She looked down at herself. She was barely dressed, and what little she had left was messed up. Going anywhere public like this was slightly inappropriate.
She followed Tyler inside.
The sales associate inside looked like she had just been dragged out of bed. She straightened up the moment she saw Tyler and plastered on a professional-looking smile.
โMr. Hunt.โ
Tyler shifted slightly to the side to reveal Rachel behind him. โPick something out for her.โ
The sales associate gave Rachel a once-over with a strange look before smiling again.
โMiss, please follow me.โ
None of them noticed a pair of eyes watching from outside the entrance. The person quickly raised their phone and took a photo.
