Chapter 267

Tyler nodded.

โ€œSo,โ€ he concluded, his voice slow, โ€œdo you mean to say that itโ€™sโ€ฆmy fault?โ€

The night was quiet, save for the wind rustling the leaves on the trees, giving off an eerie vibe.

A chill went down Samanthaโ€™s spine.

She tried to explain herself to Tyler, her voice trembling, โ€œThatโ€ฆ.thatโ€™s not what I mean, Mr. Hunt! I was indeed rash to visit here so suddenly. Iโ€™m very sorry!โ€

Tyler waved his hand. A wicked smirk curled on his lips, and he looked like the devil in the flesh. โ€œIโ€™m not one to take back my words.โ€

With that, he picked up his phone and called the police.

โ€œHello, is this the police station? I have with me two people who trespassed on private property and even called a bunch of reporters to my house. Their actions have severely compromised my reputation, personal safety, and security. Please send some officers here right away, thank you.โ€

Never in Williamโ€™s wildest dreams did he imagine that Tyler would call the police. He pinched Samanthaโ€™s arm before turning to look at Tyler.

โ€œIs there a need to make a mountain out of a molehill over all this?โ€ he exclaimed anxiously.

Tyler pursed his lips, clearly not intending to sweep this under the rug. โ€œI warned you before. You canโ€™t blame me for not heeding it.โ€

Samanthaโ€™s face changed, frightened by the prospect of being sent to the police station in the middle of the night.

โ€œWilliam, letโ€™s leave now!โ€ she exclaimed, panicking.

If they left now, the police wouldnโ€™t find anyone upon arriving.

William shared her thoughts; he was about to make a dash for it with Samantha in tow when they saw the dog standing before them.

Ray blocked their way at the entrance, his usual mild-mannered demeanor all but gone as he snarled at Samantha.

Frightened, Samantha retreated.

Tyler sat on the bedside, leisurely crossing his legs. โ€œYou two had better stay here and not try anything funny. My dog wouldnโ€™t know any better.โ€

Samanthaโ€™s face turned ashen, and she didnโ€™t dare to move an inch.

Ten minutes later, the sirens of police cars rang in the air. William and Samantha were soon taken away for trespassing on private property.

Silence descended upon the house once more.

Yvette approached Tyler apprehensively. โ€œMr. Hunt, why donโ€™tโ€ฆ Why donโ€™t you let me stay here with you tonight?โ€

Right after she spoke, Ray barked at her twice.

Tyler smirked as he said coldly, โ€œIโ€™m sorry about that. My dog gets jealous very easily. He doesnโ€™t like strangers in the house.โ€

โ€œThen why can my sister be here?โ€ Yvette asked.

She didnโ€™t dare to speak too presumptuously, as she hadnโ€™t yet figured out Tylerโ€™s attitude toward Rachel. If she went overboard and upset Tyler, it would only affect her negatively.

Tyler shrugged, looking as though he were an uninvolved party.

โ€œYouโ€™ll have to ask the dog directly. He probably prefers your sister.โ€

He made it sound as though Rachelโ€™s appearance here had nothing to do with him, but everything to do with the dog instead. Ray stared at Tyler, his eyes rolling to the back of his head. No one knew if Ray really understood what Tyler just said.

Yvette clenched her fists as she slowly inched toward Ray, a look of determination in her eyes.

Tylerโ€™s lips twitched.

Yvette cheered herself on. If she could stay the night here, life would take a turn for the better from now on.

Even if her relationship with Tyler was only in name, others would see her in a different light. No one would dare say that she was living in Rachelโ€™s shadow, an illegitimate child picked up from nowhere.

Yvette wanted everyone to know that she was the only legitimate daughter of the Lloyd family.
