Listen to this chapter:

William glanced coldly at Cassandra. โ€œDo you think Iโ€™ll joke about something like this?โ€

Cassandra fell silent.

Very soon, the divorce papers Rachel served William were posted online. It was soon accompanied by photos of her with Howard and Tyler.

There was a swift change in public opinion; all who were berating William suddenly shifted to speak up for him.

[I knew things werenโ€™t so straightforward with people from wealthy families. See? William Lewis is the man we thought he was all along.]

[Didnโ€™t expect this woman to be so promiscuous. Itโ€™s enough that she had a fling with Howard Ziegler, but Tyler Hunt too?] [Isnโ€™t Tyler Hunt with the other daughter of the Lloyd family?]

[Damn! Are things this complicated? Whatโ€™s with Rachel Lloyd? She probably ran away from the hospital of her own accord.] [Exactly! How could an entire person just vanish into thin air?]

[She probably eloped with another man. Could be Howard Ziegler, since Mr. Hunt is still around.]

[Yes, yes! I heard that Mr. Ziegler hasnโ€™t been around recently. I wonder where he went? Rachel Lloyd probably ran off with another man.]

Criticisms targeted at Rachel filled the internet.

Even the police concluded that Rachel demonstrated signs of leaving based on the divorce papers she drew up a long time ago.

No one pointed to the case as a case of premeditated murder when it was raised. It was simply a case of a missing person.

The police soon called off their interrogation of William.

Tyler was seated at his office desk, scrolling through the news. His face turned darker as his finger rotated the scroll wheel on his computer mouse.

Yale opened the door to Tylerโ€™s office.

โ€œMr. Hunt, things are looking up for Lewis Enterprise. Everyone is criticizing Ms. Lloyd on the internet, and her reputation is probably ruined, whether sheโ€™s alive or not."

โ€œEveryone is claiming that Ms. Lloyd ran away with Howard Ziegler. Should we publicize his whereabouts and clear Ms. Lloydโ€™s name?โ€

โ€œNo need,โ€ Tyler said with a raised hand. โ€œItโ€™s pointless even if you mention Howardโ€™s name. Even if you clear their suspicions toward Howard Ziegler, these netizens will just bring up thousands of other men.โ€

Yale sighed. โ€œMr. Lewis is vicious. He doesnโ€™t even know whether his wife is dead or alive, but he went ahead to capitalize on whatever remains of her. I wonder what Ms. Lloyd thinks of William making use of the divorce papers she left him with.โ€

Tyler rubbed his chin, his eyes dark. The dim light above him cast a shadow, wrapping him in a dark aura.

His fingers tapped lightly against the table.

โ€œDidnโ€™t expect Rachel to be so good at hiding her true feelings. She bore with William for so long, only to pull the rug out from under him so suddenly.โ€

Chapter 318

He turned to ask Yale, โ€œHow are things on Williamโ€™s end?โ€

โ€œI heard heโ€™s been wasting away at bars at night, drinking himself silly and calling out for Ms. Lloyd.โ€

Tyler scoffed. โ€œHow pretentious! He didnโ€™t treasure her when she was around and even tried using a woman for his selfish benefit. The nerve of him to call her name!โ€

โ€œWhat should we do?โ€ Yale asked respectfully. โ€œIf we donโ€™t quell public opinion right now, your name might get dragged through the mud, too.โ€
