Tylerโs fingers froze on the table as he cast Yale a glance. โDo you think I care about my reputation?โ
Yale nodded. โI spoke too much.โ
Tylerโs eyes turned dark as he turned his attention to the comments online. โAny clues on Rachelโs whereabouts?โ
Yale shook his head. โNot yet. The man who tried to kill her disappeared into thin air, too.โ
From the corner of his eye, Tyler saw the contract he had signed with Rachel. He remembered how resolutely she had signed it and given him her word.
Yet now, she had vanished into thin air.
He ran a finger over Rachelโs signature on the paper and mumbled to himself, โI like seeing things through to their end, especially if itโs on paper. Youโll have to fulfil your obligations for the entire period you signed for, Rachel.โ
Realization dawned upon Yale. โIโll send more men to search for her, but what should we do about the comments online?โ Tyler leaned back into his office chair and pulled out a cigarette from his pocket, putting it to his lips.
โDoesnโt William love a good exposรฉ? Weโll expose his affair with Samantha, and Iโll see how that measures up to his exposรฉ of Rachel.โ
Yale said with a frown, โDo we...do we really need to do that? If things blow up and affect William negatively, Iโm afraid it may be difficult to explain things to your father.โ
โIโll bear the consequences for that. Just do as I say,โ Tyler said firmly.
Yale was worried about Tyler getting into trouble with his father. The last time Tyler had a car chase with Howard for Rachelโs sake, he almost got Howard hurt, and his father punished him by making him kneel for an entire night and beating him to a pulp.
Tyler was way too stubborn to wince, bearing all the pain from the punishment without so much as a sound.
He had barely recovered from his wounds from that incident. If Williamโs scandal broke out, Tyler would only add to his wounds.
Yale knew Tylerโs temperament well. No one could stop him from doing whatever he set his mind to.
โYes, sir.โ
Yale opened the door to leave, only to see an old man of about seventy standing outside the door. Time had left its mark on his wrinkled face, but it wasnโt enough to cover up the natural air of authority he had about him.
Yale stammered, โMrโฆMr. Hunt.โ
โWhere is Tyler?โ the man demanded.
Yale turned around and stuttered, โHeโsโฆheโs inside.โ
He quickly turned his body sideways.
Thomas Hunt walked in, his appearance making Tyler furrow his brows. He quickly recovered and smirked, โWhat brought you all the way here?โ
Thomas' face was dark with displeasure as he scoffed, โThe nerve of you to ask that! Did you or did you not interfere with the Lewis' family affairs?โ
Tyler leaned back into his chair, his jawline hard and chiseled. He smirked and remarked with a devil-may-care attitude, โDid William come crying to you?โ
Thomas sat opposite Tyler, exuding an imposing aura that belonged exclusively to an autocrat.
โHe didnโt need to complain to me. Youโre the only one in Yurelia City who dares to pit against him.โ Tyler crossed his legs and leaned back lazily, a smug smile stretching across his face.
โOh, what an honor indeed. Can you even blame me? Especially when all his attention is on that woman he has outside of his marriage.โ
โShut up! No matter what, you canโt go against your family. Whatโs more, what age are we living in now? Itโs natural for men to have other women outside of their marriage! Thatโs not a big deal..."
