Arsen was briefly stunned on the other end of the call. He knew that William only appeared to have moved on over the years. The truth was that he hadnโt.
Even if Rachel really had come back, it was too late.
โIโll keep digging. But Mr. Lewis, you should head to the company first. The shareholders are already making a fuss.โ
โI got it.โ
Just thinking about all the problems waiting to be dealt with made Williamโs irritation spike again. He clenched his fists and slammed them against the steering wheel.
Human or ghost, he would get to the bottom of this.
He soon arrived at the Lewis Enterprise building. He didnโt know that across the street, on the twenty-second floor, someone was staring at him.
Yale walked over and placed a file on Tylerโs desk. โMr. Hunt, hereโs the information you asked for, but itโs incomplete. I suspect Ms. Lloyd has someone helping her cover her tracks.โ
Tyler looked away, idly brushing his fingers across his watch, a cigarette between his lips. โI bet sheโs the one who leaked the videos. I really underestimated her. Looks like sheโs been planning something big for a while. Now itโs just a matter of when she decides to show herself.โ
Yale caught the undertone in Tylerโs voice. โI found out that Ms. Lloyd met with Cecilia at the hospital earlier today. Iโm guessing Cecilia told her everything that happened while she was gone.โ
Tyler narrowed his eyes slightly and smiled a little. โNo wonder she finally made a move. Thatโs more like Melanieโs daughter.โ
He had always felt that Rachelโs previously meek and submissive demeanor didnโt fit her.
โMaybe this is the real her,โ he added.
Yale blinked. โYouโre saying everything before was just an act?โ
Tyler recalled her calm reaction five years ago when she discovered William and Samanthaโs betrayal, and compared it to her clear-headed, strategic responses now. She hadnโt broken down or retaliated wildly; sheโd simply vanished. In reality, sheโd been plotting patiently and silently for a long time.
He was even more curious now. When had she started preparing for this?
His eyes gleamed, and his expression was indifferent yet amused. He leaned casually against the desk with his arms folded across his chest.
โWeโll find out soon enough,โ he murmured.
Yale was a little worried. โBut Mr. Hunt, Ms. Lloyd doesnโt have any support in Yurelia City now. How could she possibly go up against Mr. Lewis? Shouldnโt you step in?โ
Tyler raised his brows slightly. โIf she gets cornered or steps on the wrong toes, sheโll come to me on her own.โ
He wanted her to come to him willingly.
Yale immediately understood and couldnโt help but sigh. Tyler really was sly.
Getting back to business, Yale continued, โRight, about Ms. Lloydโs whereabouts, honestly, we havenโt been able to dig up anything useful. We have no clue where she went or what sheโs been doing these past five years.
โBut we did uncover one thing. The person who drugged her five years ago was Yvette. She hired someone to inject Rachel while she was still in a coma. But whatโs strange is, the person she hired also disappeared.โ
Tyler frowned slightly. There were still gaps in the story of that day.
But he was certain of one thing: Whoever had tried to harm Rachel back then, she had found out. And as for where that person had ended up, only Rachel would know.
He waved his hand. โThat doesnโt matter anymore. What does matter is where has she been all these years?โ
Tyler had spent the last few years scouring the country. He hadnโt found a single trace of her.
Yale was equally puzzled. โExactly. Itโs not just us. Even Mr. Lewis has been looking. But with the two most powerful forces in Yurelia City both coming up empty, how could she possiblyโฆโ
