The police stopped, and everyone in the room fell into stunned silence.
Williamโs brows furrowed. His gaze became tense as he looked at Tyler.
โMr. Hunt, this is a family matter for the Lloyds. It wouldnโt be appropriate for an outsider like you to get involved,โ he said.
Tyler slowly rose from his chair and leaned casually against the edge of the conference table. His gaze lifted slightly. The natural force of his presence was impossible to ignore.
At Williamโs words, he let out a deep, hoarse chuckle. His fingers tapped rhythmically against the table. His expression remained cool and unbothered.
โIf thatโs the case, Mr. Lewis, then what are you doing here? Are you trying to win your ex-wife back?โ
William was at a complete loss for words. His face turned red from shame and frustration.
Samantha chimed in nervously, โMr. Hunt, we understand you may have some personal ties to the Lloyd family, and perhaps youโre here to help Rachel. But the law makes it very clear: sheโs not Mr. Lloydโs biological daughter. Technically speaking, she has no legal claim to the inheritance.โ
Tyler raised an eyebrow and shot back with a question that stunned everyone present. โWho told you sheโs not related to the Lloyd family?โ
Everyone froze.
At this moment, Yvette finally couldnโt hold back.
โMr. Hunt, you must be joking!โ she blurted out. โRachel is only an adopted daughter. Thereโs no way she could be Dadโs biological child. Even if youโre trying to help her, you canโt just tell lies like that. And weโve said it alreadyโif she really needed money, we wouldโve helped her out of respect for our past as a family.โ
Tyler calmly pulled out his phone and made a call. โYale, come in.โ
Moments later, Yale entered the room with a document in hand. He handed it to Tyler, who unsealed the envelope and pulled out a sheet of paper.
โTake a look for yourselves.โ
Rachel stood nearby. She couldnโt quite make out the text from where she was, but there was something oddly familiar about the document.
The others all leaned in to read. There was an uproar.
โWhat is this? No way!โ
โThis has to be fake! This is insane!โ
Yvette and Sasha, sensing something was wrong from the commotion, stepped forward anxiously.
Yvette snatched the document from the table; as her eyes scanned the contents, her expression went rigid. The next second, she flung the paper away like it burned her.
โNo, this is impossible! That canโt be real! You mustโve forged it!โ
Sasha noticed her daughterโs panic and quickly bent down to pick up the document. After reading it, she too paled in horror.
โTโThis canโt be true! Thereโs no way Rachel is Jimโs real daughter! This has to be fake! You forged it!โ
Gone was Sashaโs elegant poise. She now looked as pale as a ghost and was shaken to the core.
Tyler gave the table a light tap with his knuckles. โWhat, a daughter born out of wedlock doesnโt count as one now?โ
Even Rachel was stunned. She hesitantly stepped toward Tyler, her expression full of disbelief and unease.
โMr. Hunt, what is this? Am I my fatherโs illegitimate daughter?โ
Tylerโs gaze settled on her. Rachel tilted her head slightly to meet his eyes. She looked like a deer caught in headlights. The moment their eyes locked, it felt electric.
โYes. Your father never told Melanie. He was afraid she couldnโt handle it. Years ago, on a business trip, he got drunk and had a one-night stand with a local interpreter. Your true mother, terrified, never told him the truth. Instead, she secretly switched you and Yvette.โ
