Her Exit 384

Listen to this chapter:

โ€œYou were nothing more than a mid-level director at Lewis Enterprise back in the day. I even heard you were involved in a major scandal five years ago. How could someone like you possibly lead Lloyd Enterprise?โ€ one shareholder said derisively.

At that, Rachel smirked.

Slowly and deliberately, she replied, โ€œWell, does securing the overseas project that used to be under Mr. Lewis count for anything?โ€

At that, the corners of Tylerโ€™s mouth lifted. He had clearly underestimated her.

The shareholders seemed taken aback.

โ€œNo way! Is she talking about that major overseas project Mr. Lewis was working on before?โ€

โ€œThat canโ€™t be right. Lloyd Enterprise had tried everything and still failed to secure it. That dealโ€™s notoriously difficult to close!โ€

โ€œI heard tons of companies were vying for it. Mr. Hunt had already cornered most of the market overseas. If not, it wouldโ€™ve gone to Lloyd Enterprise long ago.โ€

โ€œExactly! Other than Lloyd Enterprise, only Lewis Enterprise really stood a chance. I remember hearing they were just a step away from closing it.โ€

โ€œListen to her brag. She was working alone. Lloyd Enterprise didnโ€™t even assign anyone to help. How could she possibly land that deal by herself?โ€

โ€œSeriously, sheโ€™s just a young woman. Does she really think sheโ€™s invincible or something? What a joke.โ€

Yvette and Sasha exchanged glances. They were waiting for Rachel to embarrass herself.

At this moment, Tyler started to speak.

โ€œFunny. I heard Mr. Lewis dropped that deal after Mrs. Lewis made some disastrous investment moves. On top of that, Lewis Enterprise has been caught up in so many scandals lately that their partners are demanding compensation.โ€

The very next second, Rachel tossed a signed contract onto the conference table. โ€œEverythingโ€™s here in black and white. Unless youโ€™re all blind, you should be able to read whatโ€™s on this.โ€

The shareholders rushed to grab the document and skimmed through the pages.

โ€œItโ€™s real! Thereโ€™s the company seal and everything. Itโ€™s officially signed. How did this stay under the radar?โ€

โ€œThis deal alone could carry our earnings for the next six months. That project is a gold mine!โ€

โ€œIncredible! I was seriously worried about our numbers with Mr. Lloyd in the hospital, but this changes everything!โ€

Watching their shameless expressions change so quickly, Rachel couldnโ€™t help but let out a chuckle.

โ€œYou all sure have a talent for switching sides seamlessly. Maybe when you retire, you should consider a career in acting.โ€

The shareholders looked embarrassed.

โ€œMs. Lloyd, even if we acknowledge your competence, that doesnโ€™t change the fact that youโ€™re not Mr. Lloydโ€™s biological daughter. Even if he wanted to transfer his shares to you, without legal confirmation, it doesnโ€™t hold weight.โ€

They werenโ€™t wrong. Everyone in the room knew Rachelโ€™s position was still shaky. If Yvette decided to sue, it could drag out for ages.

โ€œExactly, Ms. Lloyd. We really do appreciate what youโ€™ve done with this deal, and of course, youโ€™ll get your share of the profits. But before the police get here, my advice? Leave now.โ€

Rachel let out a chuckle.

โ€œSo thatโ€™s the plan now? Take the win and cut me loose? Well, what if I refuse?โ€

Her stubborn streak was impossible to break.

The shareholders looked at each other.

โ€œThen this becomes a family matter. Youโ€™ll have to settle it in court.โ€

Rachel pursed her lips, refusing to move even an inch.

Just then, the police arrived. After asking a few questions, they proceeded to escort Rachel away. She was just about to be taken away when a deep voice echoed through the air.

โ€œHold on.โ€
