Listen to this chapter:

Cecilia originally thought Rachel had spent the past five years on a journey of healing. After all, the pain William and Samantha caused her had been overwhelming.

But now, it seemed that those years werenโ€™t just about healing. Rachel mustโ€™ve gone through a lot more than anyone realized.

Rachel didnโ€™t explain much to Cecilia. After all, some things were better left unsaid, especially to someone not directly involved.

โ€œFound it on the road,โ€ she replied casually.

โ€œHuh? What kind of luck is that? That card is insanely prestigious, not to mention globally limited. The person who lost it must be freaking out!โ€

Cecilia was clearly shocked by the answer, but she still believed Rachel.

Rachel made up a story on the spot. โ€œMaybe theyโ€™re just too rich. Probably have a bunch of them and didnโ€™t even notice one was missing.โ€

โ€œTrue, but to be that rich, thatโ€™s next level. Imagine casually losing a globally limited card like itโ€™s nothing.โ€

Tyler leaned against the car door. He picked up on Rachelโ€™s comment. โ€œYeah. Just how rich do you have to be to misplace a Centurion Card?โ€

Rachel narrowed her eyes slightly and glanced at Tylerโ€™s probing eyes. Just that one glance made her feel unnerved. She felt exposed.

Rachel quickly averted her gaze, but the sensation of his gaze lingered like needles on her skin. Trying to shake it off, she changed the subject.

She took out one of the dining vouchers and handed it to Cecilia. โ€œHere. When the kids are on break, take them out for something nice.โ€

โ€œRachel, youโ€ฆโ€ Cecilia was caught off guard by the gesture. She hesitated for a moment before trying to return it. โ€œYouโ€™ve already done so much for me. I canโ€™t keep taking things from you.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s fine. I have more, anyway. No reason to let it go to waste.โ€

Rachel shoved it into Ceciliaโ€™s hands before the latter could refuse again.

After Yale dropped Cecilia off at her place, Rachel was about to step out of the car as well. She hadnโ€™t even fully extended her leg when Tyler grabbed her by the collar.

โ€œWhere do you think youโ€™re going?โ€

Rachel froze. Every time he manhandled her like this, she felt like a cat being picked up by the scruff of its neck.

Could this man just treat her with a shred of dignity?

Then again, this was Tyler Hunt. He was always domineering and always in control. Reflecting on his behavior was beneath him; blaming others came far more naturally.

Rachel turned and said, โ€œIโ€™m going to Ceciliaโ€™s. Thereโ€™s something I need to talk to her about.โ€

Tyler glanced at his watch. โ€œThe doctor just called. Your father has regained consciousness. Arenโ€™t you going to see him?โ€

Rachel narrowed her eyes. Tyler had fooled her more than once, so her first instinct was to doubt.

โ€œThe doctor called you first? Not me? Donโ€™t you think thatโ€™s a little strange?โ€

Tyler let go and replied indifferently, โ€œDonโ€™t believe me? Then goโ€ฆโ€

Judging by his stern expression, it didnโ€™t look like he was lying.

Cecilia saw Rachelโ€™s hesitation and encouraged her gently, โ€œRachel, you had a huge victory at Lloyd Enterprise today. You helped your father keep his shares and his company. Whether heโ€™s awake or not, you should go share the good news.โ€

Rachel thought about it and nodded. โ€œYouโ€™re right. Okay, you head home and get some rest.โ€

โ€œOkay.โ€

After watching Cecilia go inside, Rachel closed the gate door. She was just about to turn her head, only to almost collide with Tyler, who had appeared close without her noticing.

Their eyes met. Her heart skipped a beat.

โ€œWโ€“What are you doing?โ€

โ€œWhere did you get that Centurion Card?โ€
