Chapter 397
Wasnโt that a globally limited-edition Centurion Card?
Liana had worked at this restaurant for years and had never seen a Centurion Card before.
The card wasnโt something just any rich or powerful person could get their hands on. To own one, the power and connections behind you had to be unimaginably strong. Even the prestigious Lewis family didnโt have one.
Who exactly was this woman? How on earth did she get that card?
Rachel noticed Liana frozen in place. She tapped her fingers lightly on the counter to snap her back to reality.
โDidnโt you want me to pay?โ
There was no way Liana dared to go through with the charge now. If she did, she might never find another job in Yurelia City.
Her expression changed instantly; she forced a smile and began apologizing profusely.
โIโm so sorry, Ms. Lloyd. This was entirely my fault. I wasnโt being responsible. I didnโt take my job seriously enough. Please, Iโm begging you, forgive me. You have to understand, people like me working these kinds of jobs, itโs not easy. And today was especially overwhelming. There were so many customersโฆโ
Rachelโs expression remained cold. โAnd what does that have to do with me? This is your job. You make a mistake at work, and now the customer has to clean up after you?โ
Lianaโs face flushed red. She bit her lip hard. โIโI didnโt mean it like that. Youโre obviously wealthy. Why make things harder for people like us? If you could just let it go, I might be able to keep this job.โ
Rachel let out a cold chuckle. โSo now, youโre implying Iโm the reason youโre about to lose it?โ
Liana remained silent, but the resentment on her face couldnโt be more obvious.
Not far away, Yale had been watching the whole scene unfold. He turned to Tyler, who had been leaning against a wall, silently watching as if enjoying a show.
โMr. Hunt, when did you lend Ms. Lloyd your card?โ
Tyler glanced at Yale. โWho said it was my card? Mineโs right here with me.โ
Yale was in shock. โWhat? Thatโs not your card? Then how did Ms. Lloyd get that?โ
โNo idea,โ Tyler said with clear amusement.
He was still looking at Rachel. Right now, she looked like she was glowing.
Arms crossed and smiling, he couldnโt help but think that Rachel was getting more and more interesting. Yesโthis was what Melanieโs daughter should be like.
Yale noticed that the situation was spiraling out of control.
โMr. Hunt, youโre really not going to step in?โ
โSheโs handling it just fine.โ
Tyler wasnโt in a rush. In fact, this was exactly what he wanted. He wanted to test just how much Rachel was still hiding from him.
Where had she really been for the past five years? What had she gone through to become this version of herself?
Wilson had already figured out that he couldnโt afford to offend Rachel, especially after a waiter whispered that she had arrived with Tyler.
That Centurion Card alone was enough to send ripples through the restaurant. Add Tyler Hunt to the equation, and the situation was nuclear.
Acting quickly, Wilson returned the card to Rachel.
โMs. Lloyd, thereโs no need to pay. This was entirely our restaurantโs mistake. Even if you hadnโt said a word, she wouldโve been dismissed regardless. A mistake this serious would be terrible for our reputation.โ
Satisfied, Rachel didnโt press any further. โIf thereโs nothing else, weโll be leaving.โ
Wilson, ever the tactful one, quickly pulled out a few vouchers from the drawer.
โThese are complimentary meal passes. You, your friends, or family are welcome to dine here up to three times, on the house. Any dishes you like.โ
Rachel accepted them. โThank you.โ
She parted the crowd and was met with Tylerโs gaze. There was no emotion on her face. He had clearly seen everything. There was no point in hiding it now.
The group quickly made their way outside.
Cecilia clung to Rachelโs arm. Her eyes were wide with curiosity.
โRachel, whereโd you get that Centurion Card? Iโve heard of it before. That thingโs legendary!โ
