Listen to this chapter:

Cecilia seldom talked about her own problems. Talking about them only made her sadder, and Rachel never probed much about them.

Tears started falling down Ceciliaโ€™s cheeks as she spoke.

Rachel grabbed a napkin and wiped Ceciliaโ€™s tears away, the guilt in her heart reaching its peak.

โ€œIโ€™m sorry for reminding you of your past.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s fine, Iโ€™ve gotten used to it,โ€ Cecilia said through her sobs.

Then, she composed herself and went on, โ€œCome to think of it, if you bring me into the company, will your stepmother and sister say anything? If itโ€™s only going to cause you trouble, Iโ€™m not going. Iโ€™ve considered my options. I can also set up a stall to earn some money.โ€

Rachel refused to agree to that, shutting down the ludicrous idea.

โ€œWhat in the world are you thinking about? You are such a capable worker! You wouldโ€™ve risen through the ranks in the company if you werenโ€™t bogged down by issues at home.โ€

Rachel knew how capable Cecilia was, having worked with her for so many years.

Cecilia pursed her lips, a look of helplessness in her eyes as she sighed inwardly. โ€œWhat can I do? Thatโ€™s my destiny.โ€

Rachel spoke her mind. โ€œHave you considered this? Given your current situation, with your child and your frail mother-in-law so dependent on you right now, you really canโ€™t do much.โ€

โ€œDo you have something in mind?โ€

โ€œWhy donโ€™t you send your mother-in-law back home and pay someone you know to take care of her? Your child will be going to kindergarten soon. Iโ€™ll hire someone to help you fetch your child to and from school and stay with your child till you reach home.โ€

Ceciliaโ€™s heart was filled with gratitude over Rachelโ€™s willingness to help her.

โ€œRachel, I donโ€™t know what to say to thank you. I must have done something amazing in my past life to meet someone as amazing as you are in this lifetime. Youโ€™re my savior, truly!โ€

Cecilia looked as though she was about to bow down to Rachel, who immediately reached out to stop her.

โ€œPlease donโ€™t, it feels like youโ€™re paying me your last respects.โ€

Cecilia wiped the tears from her face. โ€œIโ€™ll do your every bidding from now on, okay?โ€

Rachel looked at the combination of snot and tears on Ceciliaโ€™s face and chuckled. โ€œAlright now, letโ€™s not talk about this anymore.โ€

Cecilia wiped her face with a napkin. โ€œBack to what I was talking to you about, you really need to hurry up with your project. Any later, and weโ€™ll get ourselves in trouble.โ€

Rachelโ€™s eyes gleamed with astuteness and discernment.

โ€œDonโ€™t worry. We can afford to wait till tomorrow. Iโ€™ve sent someone to tamper with Williamโ€™s laptop. He wouldnโ€™t be able to explain himself no matter how hard he tries.โ€

Cecilia nodded pensively. โ€œHe deserves it for being so horrid and using even your sick father to spare him. Iโ€™m a little worried about you, though. If William found out that you were behind all this, heโ€™ll bear a grudge against you. What should we do?โ€

Back then, William almost caused Rachel to be in a vegetative state. Cecilia shuddered to think what might happen to Rachel if he turned utterly vicious toward her.

Rachel put her hands over Ceciliaโ€™s reassuringly. โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Iโ€™m bent on taking my revenge. Iโ€™ve divorced him and taken care of my dad as well. Thereโ€™s nothing else I have to fear.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s true. With Mr. Hunt backing you up, there really is nothing...โ€

โ€œGet the news out there, and get ready for some excitement ahead.โ€
