Cecilia seldom talked about her own problems. Talking about them only made her sadder, and Rachel never probed much about them.
Tears started falling down Ceciliaโs cheeks as she spoke.
Rachel grabbed a napkin and wiped Ceciliaโs tears away, the guilt in her heart reaching its peak.
โIโm sorry for reminding you of your past.โ
โItโs fine, Iโve gotten used to it,โ Cecilia said through her sobs.
Then, she composed herself and went on, โCome to think of it, if you bring me into the company, will your stepmother and sister say anything? If itโs only going to cause you trouble, Iโm not going. Iโve considered my options. I can also set up a stall to earn some money.โ
Rachel refused to agree to that, shutting down the ludicrous idea.
โWhat in the world are you thinking about? You are such a capable worker! You wouldโve risen through the ranks in the company if you werenโt bogged down by issues at home.โ
Rachel knew how capable Cecilia was, having worked with her for so many years.
Cecilia pursed her lips, a look of helplessness in her eyes as she sighed inwardly. โWhat can I do? Thatโs my destiny.โ
Rachel spoke her mind. โHave you considered this? Given your current situation, with your child and your frail mother-in-law so dependent on you right now, you really canโt do much.โ
โDo you have something in mind?โ
โWhy donโt you send your mother-in-law back home and pay someone you know to take care of her? Your child will be going to kindergarten soon. Iโll hire someone to help you fetch your child to and from school and stay with your child till you reach home.โ
Ceciliaโs heart was filled with gratitude over Rachelโs willingness to help her.
โRachel, I donโt know what to say to thank you. I must have done something amazing in my past life to meet someone as amazing as you are in this lifetime. Youโre my savior, truly!โ
Cecilia looked as though she was about to bow down to Rachel, who immediately reached out to stop her.
โPlease donโt, it feels like youโre paying me your last respects.โ
Cecilia wiped the tears from her face. โIโll do your every bidding from now on, okay?โ
Rachel looked at the combination of snot and tears on Ceciliaโs face and chuckled. โAlright now, letโs not talk about this anymore.โ
Cecilia wiped her face with a napkin. โBack to what I was talking to you about, you really need to hurry up with your project. Any later, and weโll get ourselves in trouble.โ
Rachelโs eyes gleamed with astuteness and discernment.
โDonโt worry. We can afford to wait till tomorrow. Iโve sent someone to tamper with Williamโs laptop. He wouldnโt be able to explain himself no matter how hard he tries.โ
Cecilia nodded pensively. โHe deserves it for being so horrid and using even your sick father to spare him. Iโm a little worried about you, though. If William found out that you were behind all this, heโll bear a grudge against you. What should we do?โ
Back then, William almost caused Rachel to be in a vegetative state. Cecilia shuddered to think what might happen to Rachel if he turned utterly vicious toward her.
Rachel put her hands over Ceciliaโs reassuringly. โDonโt worry, Iโm bent on taking my revenge. Iโve divorced him and taken care of my dad as well. Thereโs nothing else I have to fear.โ
โThatโs true. With Mr. Hunt backing you up, there really is nothing...โ
โGet the news out there, and get ready for some excitement ahead.โ
