Chapter 487 +15 BONUS
โYeah. I want to hear just how twisted he supposedly is,โ Tyler said as he lay on his side, propping up his head.
Rachel looked at his posture. He didnโt look like someone getting ready to sleep at all. It was obvious he planned to keep her up all night talking.
He wasnโt seriously expecting her to tell stories all night, was he?
Rachel wasnโt stupid. She tested the waters with a question. โAre you planning to sleep soon?โ
โDonโt mind me,โ Tyler replied. โJust tell your story.โ
Rachel knew Tyler was sharp. A direct approach might make her seem overly defensive, so she decided to follow his lead instead.
โBut donโt you already know Williamโs uncle? Youโve met him, right? Shouldnโt you be the one telling me about him?โ
Tyler gazed at her calmly. โYouโve probably heard people say heโs elusive. Have you ever seen me with him?โ
Rachel thought about it carefully. She really hadnโt.
She didnโt dare make things up in front of Tyler. He might be speaking casually, but who knew what his actual relationship with Williamโs uncle was? If he went around repeating what she said, sheโd be digging her own grave.
โWe were just speculating for fun. Maybe itโs better if you donโt listen to this kind of thing.โ
โItโs fine. I want to hear it.โ
He sounded like he didnโt care, but his tone carried a subtle pressure.
Rachel had spent enough time around Tyler to get a read on how he operated. She decided to give a fair warning first.
โYouโre the one who asked, okay? This isnโt me gossiping on my own. Donโt go around repeating this later.โ
Tyler replied coolly, โMm.โ
Rachel had no choice but to continue with what she remembered.
โPeople say Williamโs uncle never appears in public. Everyone thinks heโs this mysterious guy who comes and goes without ever being seen.
โSome say heโs a deformed psycho or something. I even heard heโs really antisocial and hates interacting with people. Isnโt that textbook shut-in behavior?
โWhen I was a kid, our neighbor was like that. They had a child, but we never saw them. The family wasnโt poor either, so itโs not like they couldnโt afford school or something.
โBut late at night, you could hear the kid crying, and the whole neighborhood thought the place was haunted.
โThen one day, a friend we were playing with kicked a ball over their wall and climbed in to get it. He accidentally saw the kid. He had two heads. Like, literally, two heads sharing one body.โ
Rachel still remembered it vividly. That moment from her childhood gave her chills even now.
Tyler listened with mild interest.
โItโs probably a genetic issue. Iโve seen news stories like that. Some women get pregnant with twins, but due to poor nutrition and genetic mutation, the twins donโt split properly. You get one body with two heads. They can technically live together like that, though itโs a bit tricky. As they grow, one may start rejecting the other.โ
Rachel blinked.
โWait, so Iโm just asking out of curiosity, but if they ever got into an argument, wouldnโt they just be yelling at each other with no way to walk away?โ
That line made Tyler laugh. His raspy chuckle rang out in the quiet room. It was surprisingly pleasant to the ear.
Rachel suddenly had a thought.
Aside from his annoying mouth, this man really was perfect in every other way. He looked like something painstakingly sculpted by the heavens themselves.
She didnโt even think what she had said was that funny, but Tyler was laughing so hard that his entire body was shaking as he leaned into her. His chest vibrated with each breath, and the strands of his hair brushed lightly against the skin on her wrist.
It tickled.
