Her Exit 58

Listen to this chapter:

Samanthaโ€™s face burned as she pursed her lips and cast William a cautious look.

โ€œMr. Lewis, I had intended to start work today. I didnโ€™t know how things turned out this wayโ€ฆ You said Rachel would help me out.โ€

With that, Samantha turned to look piteously at Rachel, signing indignantly at her.

โ€œRachel, I know you started on Project Oasis earlier. Why didnโ€™t you tell me about it? Or are you still angry at me? I already said that if you want the project, I can let you have it. In fact, I can let you have it right now.โ€

Rachel was tickled pink by the act that Samantha was putting on.

โ€œMs. Judd, you earned this project by merit. I take my defeats in stride, so donโ€™t worry about that. Do a good job on this project, and itโ€™ll be beneficial for your performance review, too. Donโ€™t let Mr. Lewis down.โ€

Rachelโ€™s gaze landed on William as she spoke, and his face turned stormy.

Williamโ€™s gaze swept across the shareholders in the room.

โ€œThereโ€™s no point in finding out whoโ€™s responsible. Whatโ€™s more important now is to find a solution. LS Enterprise has gotten hold of the rights to manage Project Oasis, which means we need to work with them. Dragging this project out isnโ€™t going to do our company any good.โ€

To that, the shareholders sneered.

โ€œMr. Lewis, youโ€™re oversimplifying things. You know clearly our relationship with LS Enterprise over the past few years. Weโ€™ve been at loggerheads with each other, for goodnessโ€™ sake!โ€

โ€œMr. Hunt has been on a roll, snagging major deals non-stop and taking away even projects that we were supposed to have in the bag. We barely managed to score Project Oasis. If even this deal falls apart, weโ€™ll have nothing left.โ€

โ€œExactly, Mr. Lewis. Come up with a solution for this. If it werenโ€™t for Ms. Judd delaying the start of the project, this wouldnโ€™t have happened. I already said that her proposal was no match for Ms. Lloydโ€™s. We can see for ourselves the good work Ms. Lloyd has done for the company over the years.โ€

โ€œHow could you hand such an important project over to a new director? Ridiculous!โ€

Rachel remained as calm as a cucumber, but she could feel her nails digging into the flesh of her palm.

As it turned out, the shareholders did not approve of Samanthaโ€™s proposal for Project Oasis. William had been the sole decision-maker.

William, for his part, had thought that the project would proceed with no hiccup. He had never expected something like this to happen. Despite all his calculations and planning, he never imagined Tyler would seize the management rights of Project Oasis right under his nose.

Samantha gripped the edge of the table tightly, looking just like a convicted criminal. Once again, she turned to look at Rachel.

โ€œRachel, youโ€™ve been getting very close with Mr. Hunt as of late. Didnโ€™t you notice that he had his eyes on Project Oasis?โ€

The shareholders immediately turned their attention to Rachel.

โ€œWhat? Ms. Lloyd has been getting close to Mr. Hunt of LS Enterprise? Whatโ€™s going on?โ€

โ€œMr. Lewis, do you know about that?โ€

The shareholdersโ€™ questions stunned William, who remained silent.

The tables had turned. Everyoneโ€™s attention was on Rachel, waiting for an answer from her.

Samanthaโ€™s words had pushed Rachel to the edge.

Everyone knew that Lewis Enterprise and LS Enterprise were fierce rivals. Any employee getting too close to someone from LS Enterprise would immediately be under suspicion, not to mention the CEOโ€™s wife.
